So Trump platform just announced formation of a new, state backed enterprise with plans for a $500 billion dollar seed: Stargate.

SoftBank is being listed as one of the main "lead partners" with a primary role of "financial responsibility".

SoftBank is a global technology conglomerate with a diversified portfolio spanning telecommunications, media, internet services, finance, and cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics. The company operates through several arms, most notably SoftBank Vision Fund, one of the world’s largest technology investment funds. SoftBank is well-positioned in the global technology ecosystem, with strong ties to Silicon Valley and a reputation for large-scale investments in transformative tech companies.

Outside of obvious allocation to Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle, how are you positioning yourself?

He’s using OpenAI? Why though?
>>

why in the world is Oracle involved in this shit? That's the last company I would think of when it comes to AI. Even IBM would have been a better pick.

Also didn't they wanna safe money? Why put 500 billion into an already completely inflated and useless bubble? Do you really think AI is their last hope? Then they are fucking doomed. Nothing will come out of AI, it's absolute vapor ware with no big use case.
>>

current AI is overrated and we'll soon hit the ceiling of what's possible on silicone

You two sound retarded. People used to talk like you idiots about the internet. They shut the fuck up about it now though

Do you understand the transformer architecture? If you do understand, please explain to me, how this could ever lead to anything meaningful. It's just a glorified chatbot. I look at it like at a lossy compression algorithm of the internet, why would I use it and not just use the internet directly. Because people like how it's interactive and easier to use? Maybe. But then it's also wrong most of the time and there is absolutely nothing they can do to prevent that. The technology is inherently flawed and limited.

AI is fucking garbage its just a fast action markov chain. Its absolute dogshit.

Intel?

Arent there rumors about it being aquired by musk and co, maybe they want it to completely turn it around and focus on AI

He’s naming the AI program after portals to other worlds?
We’re so fucked

It’s pretty amazing actually. AI is only just starting and it’s already impressive at many tasks
It’s much better with English than you are

Why is it called stargate?

Because it's a gateway to the stars, D'UH!

Is naming serious state-sponsored project "-gate" after 1974 really the best idea?

>why in the world is Oracle involved in this shit?
This has been the play of big tech since it's inception which began with IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and Oracle. Oracle started as a CIA program, their goal was to retain as much data as they possible could in the Oracle system. This would (in theory) allow them to have more intel than anyone on earth. They used Ellison's public company as a front to accomplish this. The other tech companies were responsible for creating the hardware to build the devices that would transmit/contain this data.

Google and the social media companies were the next iteration, Google was supposed to harvest that data and create AI systems that could effectively browse it and make inferences based off of it. They were supposed to be creating a super intelligence that would be utilized to create a one-world government. Whoever gets to AGI first will have (what they think) would be world domination, since it would put whatever country owns it at the top.

>Why put 500 billion into an already completely inflated and useless bubble?
Well it's not useless, because it's the closest thing we have to creating intelligence. Once its more refined it has real use cases, just not nearly on the scale that's been promised, like maybe 1/1000th of what was expected. They've realized the inherent unprofitability of it and that's why the government is stepping in. They can no longer finance this giant CIA op through the public, it needs to go back to its home for now.

Personally, I think actual AI will have to use a combination of biological and silicon systems to achieve anything close to actual AGI.

pls don't think I'm retarded because of grammar and spelling errors, I'm at work right now

current AI gen has absolutely nothign to do with intelligence, it has an intelligence of zero. It's a huge distraction from actual AGI research. I'm not big into AGI and don't know about all the projects and whatever, but it's stuff like Watson and DeepMind and those. They all suck, but this is at least researching how to create a real AI. What chatGPT is doing is just a waste of time and money. It might trick lazy people into thinking they can get a shortcut in life, but it's just a mirage and if anything will make everything so much worse in the near future.

Idk about Oracle and CIA, all I can tell you is that Oracle is an absolute dinosaur in the industry and didn't create or invent anything meaningful in decades. The only reason they still exist is because of their licensing madness where other huge dinosaur companies are basically stuck with them. Their technology is stuck in the 80s and their mindset too. Nobody in their right mind would use Oracle these days, if they aren't already vendor locked in. Same goes for IBM, but they don't even have a product. I have no idea how they are still existing.

Packard Bell is a sleeping giant and have been secretly working with black ops over the last 2 years to create the infrastructure needed to roll out the upcoming flood of AI technology. Anyone who hasn’t been accumulating their stock is about to fucking rope
>>
What is the money being used for? LLMs can’t evolve into AGI.
>>
>>59671751
interestingly enough, their stock has been rising over the years. But I don't know why, I never liked them. Feels like cheap shit. I dislike their consumer and their business / server products with a passion. Everytime I see some business fag with such a notebook I think they are working for a shit company that can't afford lenovo.

>>59671812
It's probably just dumb money, desperately trying to create growth by inovation in the next big thing AI. I really can't wait to see this buble burst and completely wreck everything. I wanna see wall street morons that kept preeching these buzzwords, jumping out of their windows. Might take a decade to manifest, but it will happen for sure.
