The market had months to price it in.
>>60110768With Trump no one believes anything he says until he actually does it. Therefore nothing is ever 'priced in'.
ESL's were working with a very literal interpretation of reciprocal
>>60110768No one ever could have expected it to be as retarded as it was. He also flip flopped a good 10 times with the Canada and Mexico tariffs so the credibility wasn’t there
>>60110797This. Even now it's hard to be sure how serious Trump is. Will he pullback? Will he add even more tariffs tomorrow? Impossible to know.
>>60110813>>60058487
>>60110813technically they don't go into effect until 4/5/25. so he still has time to flip flop like an orange nigger retard.
When I heard reciprocal tariffs I thought it meant, "Country X has a tariff of Y on us, so we are going to tariff them at Y." Instead it meant, "We are going to calculate trade deficit/their exports, claim that that is Y tariff and tariff them at Y."So no, plenty of people did not anticipate it being this stupid.
>>60110768See this
>>60110768So what is gonna happen to stores like dollar tree and dollar general? Close down?
>>60112485What will happen to Japanese stores in the US?
>>60112492I was surprised to see DOL.TO (Dollarama) spike up. It's the same thing, but Canadian (no China tariffs)
>>60112411Congratulations. You are retarded. >Ah yes by the rigged rules of the WTO, a reciprocal tariff means that if I have a 10% tariff on cotton goods, you will only tariff me 10% on cotton goods in return>Never mind your cheap labor advantage, the lax environmental regulations allowing overuse of industrial fertilizer, the fact that you ship goods on vessels staffed with third world sailors, or the government subsidies your country gives to cotton growers>No, only a 10% tariff is allowed in return
>>60110768Where is Russia?
>>60110768Because of pic related. His billionaire friends called him he will probably put tariffs on hold for another month.
>>60110768people expected reciprocal tariffs relative to the tariffs imposednot relative to the trade deficit
>>60112744the US doesn't trade with russia
>>60112744stop noticing things
>>60112411No one anticipated a calculation like that. Not even Trump suggested such a thing in his various speeches before or after the election. The market expected and priced in flat reciprocal tariffs as a worst case scenario. This is significantly worse than that.
>>60112485Why is japan tariffing America 2.4%? That's arrogant
>>60112485Glad I locked in a brand spanking new Japanese car, before trump was sworn in.I bet I can sell it break even, by the end of trump’s 3rd term.
>>60112868huh? we had like 4 billion worth of trade with russia just last year
>>60112744Remember the sanctions?
>>60117228I bought a new computer. I did see something about semiconductors being exempt though, so it might not be the deal I thought it was. Long NVDA maybe.
>>60110768>adds tarrifs to an island populated by penguins What do Penguins export to USA?
>>60117262Apparently machinery and electronics.
Markets can price good newsMarkets can price bad news Markets can price in a retard who says stupid shit every other week with no direction
>>60117301Damn. The markets are fucking brutal.
>>60112738>Comparative advantage is cheatingScrub.
