Why do people hold when it's dropping instead of selling and buying back when it's lower? I understand if it's an unexpected event, but Trump telegraphed this months ago, and it was obvious that tariffs would crash the market. Anyone here still holding? If so, why?

It's dropping because of that people *are* selling.
The price is going down as buyers are looking for lower prices than current value.
People hold because they don't want to sell and then the price to go back up, which means they've lost out.

Imagine you have money in this. Do you really want to sell? What if you sell now and that was the low point, and now to get back in you need to buy at a higher price.

Then there's issues of taxes and fees, then there's matter of options where people are locked in, waiting for expirations and need to ride it out etc.

Because nobody knows where the bottom is???

I'm just too lazy to do that with more than 20 positions in altcrap.

Because where I buy will be the exact bottom

People are selling idiot that's why it's dumping

But everyone knew what Trump was going to do, and therefore everyone knew it was going to drop. You don't have to hit the exact top or bottom. Why not at least save yourself from 5%, 10% of the downside? Just doesn't make sense to hold.

Lots of things get "telegraphed" and the market just defiantly thinks it's a bluff, or downplays it, or generally never fucking cares, and mumutards just keep buying. This tariff stuff was the same. Not selling when they should have is standard mumu bravado and arrogance in the face of bad things and ominous warnings. And now they get to suffer for their hubris. I am beaming from ear to ear today.
