I would, but I only have 2 months of cash and I'm unemployed. I'm literally all in on PM's. I've been thinking about selling everything not bolted down for more silver lately.

"My wife left, don't need 2 forks, 1 will do!"
>>
Thoughts on bullion jewelry? Is that even a thing? My understanding is gold sells by weight regardless of purity, so it doesn't need to be 22-24k, 18k is fine or 14 if it's heavy
>>
>>60157559
They feel part way between a coin and bullion. I like the slightly softer milling and the fact that they weigh more than 1oz is also neat.
>>
>>60157737
I do occasionally opportunistically buy some gold jewelry for the bullion value. Usually only wearable pieces though. You're also correct on your assumption (just don't buy new)

Should I buy all gold tomorrow or half gold and half S&P?

No need unless it’s got numismatic value to preserve. Silver is silver, gold is gold.
>>
>>60157826
I never buy new, but I still have yet to get any 22-24k pieces. I wish I got them a year or two ago when it was 2100-2400 but I didn't have the money and I wasn't as experienced with jewelry. I have a lot more jewelry now, very heavy and a very heavy 18k chain and some very heavy 14k chains but the color of 22+ is what I want but it's hard to cough up 3.8k+ for thai baht. That's why I wound up looking for used pieces and getting them close to spot. Let a few used 23-24k chains go by because I want something heavier than 10-17 grams but maybe I'll bite the bullet just to have one of them
>>
>>60157887
No stocks. Hold of frendo. Too volatile and will be for a few days more at least. Dont go to the stock exchange tomorrow, stay home, sleep in even. Personally i have 2 silver coins under my pillow. No more no less.
>>
>>60157887
S&P most likely hasn't bottomed out yet. I would hold off on that. I guess if you must buy something, gold or silver

>>60157958
if you ever end up in taiwan, you can get new jewelry there for not much over spot. Other than that, you'd have to go somewhere with a lot of asians to find 22k+ gold.
>>
>>
>>60157994
I just browse a few resale sites every day and sometimes you find a listing that's old when the price is up and you can get it close to spot if not exactly spot. I did that for a big 10k bangle. 540 dollars for a 520 dollar spot value item that's gone up to 580~

>>60158860
They never outright banned it. Jewelry and artistic works made of gold were fine, and individuals could own up to 5 ounces of gold coin per person, so a family of 5 could have 25 oz. All in all even with the ban only about 20-25% of gold coins were actually turned in.

This is ignoring the fact that the ban was because we were on a gold standard back then. In order to print more money the government needed more gold. We don’t have to do that now.

About to dump money on 100g of gold. Quick questions from a noob:
-has gold reached the margin call selloff bottom or is it about to SHTF when markets open?
-1g*100/5g*20/20g*5/50g*2/100g*1 bar? Price and liquidity-wise
-is the cheapest 100g .999 bar as good as the more expensive ones? 100g Valcambi Suisse goes for 9153 EUR, PAMP Fortuna goes for 9187 (35 EUR diff), and they are now out of stock for PAMP Lunar, Metalor and Argor-Heraeus bars.

As Dave Silver said, timing the tops, waiting for dips to buy, trying to play the markets is amateur games.
Just buy as much silver as you possibly can while its still manipulated. Instead trying to to "time the markets" spend your efforts on trying to liquidate unnecessary assets, trying to cut your spending, making more fiat, finding better deals, scouring online marketplaces for sweetest deals etc etc.

People might not realize it yet, but they will come to understand that in reality every toz under triple digits is a big cheapie.

true. best way I've found to do it is take the top off, flip the whole tube, then lift it off.

excited to buy full tubes tho, just working with what i can rn because i already bought a chain and a 1/4 oz last month.

alright i should’ve opened them upside down slowly, the foam actually helps im retarded i dinged one or two up a bit unnecessarily but i think it’s completely unavoidable unless you treat them like newborns

>>
>>60172291
based newstacker. keep your eye open for deals, you can frequently catch a few ounces close to spot to fill up your tube eventually.
>>
>>60172423
new to bullion but i have 11k in gold chains i got for very low premiums and some at or under spot by looking for old listings when the prices went up before they updated them
prized chain is a 53 gram 18k Japanese curb that’s appreciated around 400 dollars since like a year ago
>>
>>60172405
You can also load the tubes upside down by stacking your coins and dropping the tube over them.
>>
>>60172495
I’ll try that when I get another 10 ounces even though they will be random dates but these 10 are all crisp near mint 2011s
I never got the appeal from videos and talk alone because my first two eagles were 2024 ones but the 2011s are extremely high sheen polish and sharp to the skin like a knife, it’s very pleasing compared to the 2024 i use as a pendant for a big 45 gram sterling anchor chain
>>
>>60172423
also i gotta say even half a tube feels really nice. the weight and color and artistry is alluring. i could’ve gotten a full 20 ounces last month but i opted for a 1/4 gold eagle right before prices went up again

>>
>>60161971
Size is a minor consideration. My priority is to buy at best price per weight. Very often a dealer will have some fractional coin priced as a deal, and their unit price is very often lower than larger versions of the same coin. Case in point:
https://www.bgasc.com/product/great-britain-gold-sovereign-coin-ry
0.2354 ozt for $709 comes out to about 3,012/ozt. Find an ounce for that price. It's not easy.

After the spot price dropped from 34 to under 30 dollars the premiums on the cheapest toz in the shop I buy from dropped from 36.4 to 36.2...
The price of spot (paper silver) to physical is completely disconnected and will only continue to grow.
You can still get spot if you look in the right places and right amounts but even thats getting increasing rare.

They’re very matte and dull, like a Libertad. Contrast with a new Britannia, shiny as a mirror.
>>
>>60176088
Well we already know silver has a relatively small supply. But will this further affect it in the future?
>>
>>60176088
Costco limits gold and silver purchases to manage inventory, prevent hoarding, and ensure all members have a chance to buy. They do it with some food items too. It's not uncommon.

Well truly nobody can know for sure.
We can only observe as more and more cracks appear and become slowly more visible.
What we know for sure are:
Almost a decade long industrial deficits, billions worth of uncovered short positions, indefinite stands for delivieries from largest bullion dealers and ever increasing record buying from russia, India and china, Silver is becoming only harder to find, recycling is nonexistent and Major mines are shitting down.

if you got lots of money, get both at like 1:10 ratio
if you're relatively poor and just starting, get as much silver as you can... 5 or 10oz bars.
jewelry not recommended unless you come across a really good deal.

It might seem like a scam, but I buy Britannias with the security features so they seem legit. Is it normal for shops to do this? I kinda feel like I'm ripping them off.
