I believe its going to be Navarro. He's the easiest to remove as he's just the "senior counselor for trade and manufacturing", whereas someone like Bessent is the treasury secretary. Right before the tariffs hit they were talking about China's potential response on NPR, and they had some audio of a guy who runs a political podcast in China. It was doing the documentary thing where they play the original audio for 3 seconds before the dub over translation starts, so it was just a guy talking in mandarin at light speed very intensely before a voice over goes "As Napoleon said, never interrupt your opponent when he is making a mistake."

It's frustrating to know that most people I talk to are focused on the immediate "now, now, now!" of returning manufacturing to the United States and trying to strongarm world trade. But my question is, who the fuck are we going to sell our products to if that does come to pass? What the fuck are we going to make that's going to make people buy what we have? How are we going to win against the sweatshops in SE Asia? I highly doubt the average American is going to settle for those conditions.
>>

they are priced in desu, why do you think the market and crypto pumps on the slightest good news? hell even with the tariff flip flops bitcoin never dropped below 75k
>>
>>60270006
a lot of people think america is mostly self-sufficient and only really needs canada/mexico for trade, so the answer is the manufacturers in america would sell to the biggest 1st world consumer market, america, and they would have preferential advantage over imports due to trade policies
>>
>>60270006

It means assests could get dumped if hedge funds margin calls get of hand while investors money out of the funds.
Hedge funds are leveraged heavy. If the market dumps they lose big. If they lose big enough they are forced to liquidate at a loss. If this were to happen in a large event hedge funds could collapse bring the market down with them.
Look into basis trades. These are the hedge funds ticking time bombs.

Its kinda true but kinda not.
Everybody was benefitting from the status quo for a long time. America got cheap dogshit plastic and chinks could pretend to be clueless rice farmers while growing their influence. But that specifically made it a threat to america. What Trump is doing shouldve happened ages ago in a less extreme way. But americans were too greedy.

Notice how he says obsessed with hegemony? Almost like he wants America to give it up. I doubt he would be willing to do that if sides were reversed.

Here in India right after the Ukraine - Russia full scale war started in 2022, we had a bunch of anti-American pro-zigger sentiment. You literally had Indian guys on social media with the "Z" logo watermarked on their pfp. It was some insanely cringe stuff and thats even by Indian standards knowing we're the phull sapport country. Ball lifting is in our blood.

Anyways that was back in 2022 but then anti-American sentiment died down by 23/24. Now in 2025 with Trump in office we were supposed to like him because our incumbents like Trump but the market volatility is making Indian media rag on Trump.

It's not unexpected at all and the only reason the market is still alive is because there still is trust in the American economy and Donald showing restraint.
The market is entirely forward sentiment based on expectations of growth in value
Since the 7 companies that account for a third of SP500's market cap are overexposed to the tariff shit and risk a massive increase in costs relative to turnover, which will in turn have a diminishing effect on their earnings-per-share and thus decrease their expected value.
So if 33% - and that is excluding the other 90% of the SP500 somewhat to very impacted by tariffs - goes down, then that automatically weighs down the index.
