You dont have to gamble on the winner. Buy a basket. I mean, NVDA? PLTR? investing on the "build-out" of ai is a soft secondary play. If AI is so good it justifies buildout then just long AI. It's much easier. There's so many more variables to doing tangentially related infrastructure plays than *just* AI.
>not as much build-out
>not significant demand to move revenues up meaningfully
>macro-economic factors hurt infrastructure
>AI eats shit
it's too odd to do it this way. It's like me buying berkshire because they own some caterpillar stock and caterpillar will get more business from the rebuilding of ukraine.

There are other factors, too. They are still pushing for EVs, which need lithium for batteries and electronics need REEs in general, with some countries starting to opt for resource protectionism. Even during the covid days, the 5-10 demand/supply outlook for copper and silver and uranium wont keep pace with projected growth.

So really, its more of a materials and PM play based on inevitability, but it overlaps strongly with the AI/tech boom
>>
>>60883514
what about electricity generation, transmission, switching, land leases, that are needed for all data centers even if they are not AI focused.
>>
>>60883596
Why?
>>
Buy GOOG
Sell SBSW
>>
>>60883605
>electricity
Thats where the uranium comes in. MSFT didnt help fund the restart of Three Mile Island for fun. SMRs as a tech have also become viable. No longer do you have 70s style cooling towers, you have molten salts and reactors that fit in a 60 foot shipping container and can be assembled in parallel like giant batteries, picture disaster relief and portable power.

My point is nuclear is the future of energy generation in the US; oil is still very important for eg diesel and industrial use, that isnt going away either, even if full EVs catch on.

If youre talking utilities proper, yes, power companies and also water is a good place to be. If we head in a recession, its a good defensive cornerstone for your portfolio

If a nuke plant is operating, or recently shut down and can be reactivated in a reasonable amount of time, but gas generation is the bridge to supply the immediate demand for all the data centers being built now and planned to be build the next few years. Its going to take 10 years or more to build and start a new nuke plant, the NRC just is not going to cooperate and there are always massive delays and cost overruns. And, dont forget all the DEI engineers and plant operators who are going for fuck everything up

The reason we have so many bobos in this board is because they invest in dogshit like metals and 'value stocks' while everyone around them gets richer with blue chips and crypto.

I'm looking at a 30Y mortgage. The bank is offering a payment plan where I only pay interest for 20 years and after that the principal at a far greater rate than if I took the regular payment plan. However I ran the numbers and if I split the difference between the smaller payment for 20 years and the regular payment plan and put that in a broad market index I'd come out on top with say 7% annualized gains. What's the catch here? After 20 years I could lump sum even the larger principal, given inflation and career advancement the larger principal wouldn't matter as much too.
>>
>>60884195
>be jewish
>create bitcoin, and thus cryptocurrency out of thin air
it may be finite, but it holds no intrinsic value because it has no use. what does bitcoin do? what can you do with bitcoin? you will never be able to give a fulfilling answer.

gold? you can use it in medical procedures, in food, jewelry, electronics

cryptobros are at the peak of mt. stupidity, caught in a bubble ought to destroy its inhabitants. you were caught in a lie.
>>
>>60884195
My shit is also more finite than gold since eventually I'll die and stop producing it. A thing being finite doesn't magically give it value if that thing is essentially worthless.

If you honestly believe that golds price is because of its industrial uses you are unbelievably retarded. The only reason gold has value is because humanity has agreed it has value. Same with diamonds, only fans whores and athletes. Things have the value society gives to them alongside supply and demand.

Crypto is an inflation hedge you can take anywhere with you and not need vaults to store it. It does golds job 1000 times better.
>>
>>60884223
the reason you may find crypto to be a better suit for hedging "inflation" (lol), is because it specifically caters to gullible idiots like yourself.

Summary

30-year British gilt yield at highest since 1998
French 30-year OAT yield highest since 2011
Pound and yen both under pressure
European stocks, U.S. futures both slide
Gold hits record high before retreating

LONDON/SINGAPORE, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Long-dated bond yields in Europe hit multi-year highs on Tuesday as investors grow increasingly worried about the state of finances in countries around the world, while stocks slid, the dollar gained, and gold touched a fresh record high.
As markets suffered a sharp September back-to-school shock, the Japanese yen also tumbled after a close aide to Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said on Tuesday he would resign from his post.

The Reuters Daily Briefing newsletter provides all the news you need to start your day. Sign up here.
Later in the day, U.S. business activity data will be the first in a raft of important economic figures to come this week.
Britain's 30-year bond yield rose nearly 6 basis points to 5.697%, its highest since 1998, France's rose a similar amount to 4.513%, its highest since 2009, and Germany's was at its highest since 2011 at 3.41%. "

>"A €2 Trillion Dutch Pension Headache Is Coming for European Bonds"

>"The storm is centered on a long-planned reform of the Dutch pension system, the European Union’s biggest. It’s already pushing up yields on longer-dated bonds and traders are positioning for volatility in the euro swaps market, which the funds use for hedging. Things could become more extreme at the turn of the year, when a large tranche of funds are set to transition, due to lower liquidity at that time."

>"Japanese entities have achieved a historic milestone by surpassing the 1000 billion USD mark in the issuance of dollar and euro-denominated bonds. This significant development underscores the growing confidence of international investors in Japan's financial stability and economic prospects. The surge in bond issuance reflects a strategic move by Japanese entities to diversify their funding sources and tap into the global capital markets. This shift is likely driven by the favorable interest rate environment and the strong demand for high-quality assets, which Japan's bonds represent."

Lmao the ignorance. At best you have Switzerland that has a 401k equivalent amounting to less than a third of the retirement contributions. And it's not an EU country anyway. Pensions systems between the US vs EU and Japan are vastly different.
There's a reason the EU doesn't see a wave of suicides and olf farts offing themselves whenever there's a recession.
Their pensions systems are not better in the long term, but they absorb systemic shocks better as they're decoupled from stocks and bonds. They're not decoupled from the labor market on the other hand, so a recession still has some effects.
