>>60933418I didn't say "never exit." I said "never have a stop loss." If a better opportunity pops up, by all means, free up your capital and switch over. But a stop loss is a complete and utter fucking nonsense concept, as dumb as day trading. When you set a stop loss you are literally saying "If le price hits X dollars then suddenly I'm a psychic and know 100% for sure it will hit Y dollars.">>60933420A huge proportion of sudden moves get instantaneously undone in the other direction within an hour after open. If there's a rash move like gapping down, it's more important that ever to sit on your hands until there's clarity. And there's no such thing as a "trend," at least not in the sense you're insinuating. Indexes have a statistical trend upward, but everything else can turn on a dime.
>>60933426Okay, but I'm not wrong. It's mathematically more important to avoid losses than to chase wins, and I've said this many times in smg>$100 -> $110 is a 10% gain>$110 -> $100 is a 9% loss>$100 -> $90 is a 10% loss>$90 -> $100 is an 11% winStops help you from digging yourself into a hole. >>60933638HA
>>60933634Your instinct was good, your mistake was trusting your timing in full. The solution to this, from experience, is to decide on a move and open a position with 30-70% of the total, conditioned on how sure you are your timing is right. Never go higher than 70%, the remaining is a hedge on your decision.
>>60933661I'll do that next time if this retard pump doesn't give me a heart attack.

>>60933661>>60933667Treat trading like a marathon. It's not a singular event that will make or break you; if a position can give you 10x, it can also leave you with 10% of your money.Like, pro traders will assign some amount of risk if they lose, typically 1-2% per trade. Scale it based on ATR.So if you have a $5,000 account, 2% losses would be $100. Using /smg/'s favorite meme as an example, HGRAF closed yesterday at $1.20 and has an ATR of $0.23. You'd assign 1.5x or 2.0x ATR as your stop loss, say 2x = $0.46. You would long (or short) whatever amount of shares to make that $0.46 equal $100, in this case 217 shares. You can even do what >>60933661 says and split it - for example 1% risk now and 1% risk later, so 108 shares per lot (of course after price moves and hits one SL, your risk becomes different)In either case, come up with some rules and trade it consistently. Trading is very much about creating a process and sticking to it
Well looks like no trades today for me, unless we crash into the close.
>>60933701Also, don't look at individual trades when you win or lose, look at them in batches of like 5 or 10 or 20 trades as a unit.If you make any mistakes (eg deviating from your system or trading emotionally), write it down and keep a journal. Never make the same mistake twice. Once you become consistent and avoid being stupid, your gains also become consistent
what just happened?

>>60933667Always cut your losses as soon as possible. Save yourself the emotional turbluence, and just make the next decision with more clarity. Statistically, next week is looking bearish but the chance of unexpected pumping is on the table given the broad momentum. Track NVDA, everything is glued to it, if it dips below 175.50 we should start a downturn, even if temporary.

I see tech pumping and wonder, are all these people, retail, money managers and others, genuinely retarded or do they just see something I don't? Is everyone caught in a bubble, doomed to lose their savings, or am I just too stupid to see the opportunity?
>>60933060I'm going all in on APPL, GOOG and MSFT. 50k in each

Fitch just downgraded France to A+, guess euro is going to 1.15 on monday?
What if someone only invested in tobacco multinational conglomerates? They have a good dividend and make billions of dollars every year.Their market is literally an addiction, how can they go bankrupt.
This fucking country man.
>>60934175zoom zooms don't go much for 'bacco anymore, since it's a shit addiction, makes you smell, and is expensive (especially outside of the US due to HUGE taxes being applied to them). I like the MO divvy but I don't see it keeping my initial investment for many years.
>>60934176that was the one on the spent casing btwimagine dying to that bulletabsolutely humiliating
>>60934130I've never heard anything good about private equity. Apparently it's not even considered a good investment vehicle. It seems to be a parasite that makes every facet of our economy worse in order to benefit no one. Even the vampires collecting executive paychecks at these firms could no doubt make just as much money at a hedge fund or an investment bank.
>>60934178The complete opposite, here in Italy nearly every single man and woman starts smoking at the age of 10 minimum.Nearly every single person in my university smokes, the entrance looks like a fucking foundry.

I think the solution to my problem of not making enough money on trading is to take larger bets
seems like so many of you are buying into the rate expecting the moon mission to continue. Is anyone actually bearish about it?
Week 2 of the Dell projection is over. Thursday, the weekly high was hit at $128.76, 24 cents under projection. Very similar to the week 1 high, where we were 2 dollars above the projected price. A weekly low of 118 was hit on Tuesday of this week, but it quickly recovered. This low was 8% below the projected high price for the week. Projected price for next week (week 3) is $132, which seems possible if a double rate cut rally occurs.
>>60934193>>60934199US definitely has a larger economy and market share worldwide. MO and other people sell vapes as well (which are arguably worse than tobacco, the flavorants aren't regulated as much and can cause problems when heated).
>>60934191but that wont satisfy the craving to do evil things
>>60934258Closing price of $125.04 is similar to the previous Friday close. Currently there appears to be a lot of resistance at the $128 level. If it can break through that, the $132 to $135 level is feasible.
>>60934280>buy successful company>deliberately bankrupt it>extract profit through transaction fees and debt>produce nothing of value and make the world worse off than it was beforewhy is this allowed
>>60934280parasites
>>60934303If you think of a company as a piggy bank with a series of locks it makes far more sense. By transferring debt from other companies to the new acquisition they are able to clean up the balance sheet of the other companies and the debt goes bye bye in bankruptcy. If they do this while raising bonuses and dividends they are able to drain the piggy bank so when the bankruptcy happens the company has no assets to pay anyone. Companies don't spend billions buying Kmart...lol unless they have a plan for making every dollar back and then some.
To take +20% profits, or not to take +20% profits?Hmmm.
>buy TSLL at 12>sell at 10>goes to 17 after>buy NVDA at 180>sell at 168>goes back to near 180 againHOW THE FUCK DO I UN-JUST MYSELF
>>60934340You should have taken profits Thursday. Friday was an obvious profit taking day.
>Fed Governor Cook declared her Atlanta property as ‘vacation home,’ documents show: Reuters>A loan estimate for an Atlanta home purchased by Lisa Cook, the Federal Reserve governor accused of mortgage fraud by the Trump administration, shows that Cook had declared the property as a “vacation home,” according to a document reviewed by Reuters.>The document, dated May 28, 2021, was issued to Cook by her credit union in the weeks before she completed the purchase and shows that she had told the lender that the Atlanta property wouldn’t be her primary residence. The document appears to counter other documentation that Cook’s critics have cited in support of their claims that she committed mortgage fraud by reporting two different homes as her primary residence, two independent real-estate experts said.Wow you mean Bill Pulte is full of shit? You dont say

>>60934359>a bunch of people that specialize in finding and exploiting loopholes in laws ruthlessly making money with their discoveries.Reminds me of an incident that happened in Australia a while back. Companies found a loophole in the tax code that let them offload all their tax debt to shell companies, then drain all the shell's assets and dissolve it without paying any tax. This was such an egregious abuse of the law that the Australian government criminalized it retroactively and reinstated all the debts that had been dissolved.Retroactive laws aren't allowed in the US but I think we should be at least as ruthless in closing these sorts of loopholes.
