>15 dollar growth in one year
>It's not even really started yet
That's the crazy thing, we're not at a true phsyical shortage yet. Coin stores still have SOME stock (my LCS was actually low due to doing a coin show), online marketplaces are doing deals to try to take advantage of sellers now so for all intents and purposes this is a 15 dollar increase with a seller's market that's flooded.
Now squeeze it.

A squeezed year could literally be twice as big easily, I don't expect less than 15 dollars growth a year, I'm thinking more like double-triple next year. The growth from 25 to 40 is about the same proportionally as the growth from 50 (EOY price maybe) to 80. A repeat of this year's growth literally takes the price to 80 in one year, and we're in a seller's market.

Silver has 5 more trading days until the end of the quarter. The quarterly all-time high is $37.60, with further resistance at $39.95.

Silver is in position to make a new quarterly all-time high. Closing above $39.95, adds significance.

Welfare should be private and voluntary. The government has no business robbing people at gunpoint to give half the money to bureaucrats who then give the other half to groups they wish to support.

>We are literally subsidizing our own replacements
This isn't even my primary problem with government spending, it's that at the end of the day the math doesn't work - there is no efficient use of large sums of money by corporations, let alone the government.
>OK, we have 1 trillion dollars, split it fairly between these 10 entities
>10 entities all have different needs and motivations and amounts of people working for them
>There's no guarantee of which one will give the better payoff
>I know, let's ask some politician guy to split it up by writing a 10,000 page bill
>A couple hundred people in the most powerful country in the world end up directing where several trillion dollars go per year
Anything over 1 trillion in spending is clown world. It's simply not possible to use that amount of money efficiently and without corruption no matter what happens. When money was not free and printable they had reasonable constraints.

They hide all this by tracking % GDP instead of the actual raw spending, too, like that's any valid form of measuring anything.
>Oh, essential services? Hmmm, 10% of GDP sounds good!
>This worked in 1900
>Look at this today
>10% of GDP is now a sum 1,000 times bigger, but they still spend the same amount
I'm just sick of it, there's a certain percentage of GDP they're aiming for when the reality is nothing actually needs to be scaled up like that, they aren't offering us more vital infrastructure, you couldn't spend 10% of our GDP per year on infrastructure we actually needed, even. You could in the 1900's when our GDP was that much lower, not today. It just means waste.

>Interesting way to put across the argument that all tax increases are corruption.
Humans are inherently corruptable, some cultures are low trust, high corruption index, high time preference, high in-group preference and clannish, but the seeds of corruption are in every society and culture.

Creating a system where accountability is distributed (it was decided that...) and funding is essentially unlimited if can be generated by printing press at the expense of stealing the savings of the working classes, will ALWAYS result in eventual collapse.

Sometimes it takes more than one lifetime to manifest. A clear turning point for the USA was 1913. It took several generations to get to this point where the looming disaster in inevitable.

Taxes are irrelevant when a government can engage in unlimited defict spending, as spending will always outstrip taxpayers ability to pay.

Well that's how they make a profit. LCS dealers don't sell at spot. It's just a bit more noticeable at the moment because they can get the FOMO tards to pay more
>>
>>60986852
I saw some youtube dealer saying he has a guy that gives him ASE's for a dollar over spot, so he only pays spot for them.
They generally do just have better deals on literally anything than retail does, and much of the time they're mega-jews with how they price things. This is why you get the cheapest thing possible at closest to spot possible with the highest liquidity every time.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they tried to jew people on reselling dimes because they're "hard to count" or something, so I only bother stacking halfs and above.

That's because the metal is fucking useless. It's not a real precious metal because it oxidizes in air, it's not a commodity metal because there isn't enough of it to make stuff out of, it's physical properties are barely above copper while costing 10x more. The only thing it's good for is speculation bubbles and roping in retards into your market manipulation just like bitcoin.

The only practical use for it where it can't be replaced by another metal is making the best mirrors because of it's high reflectivity and even then aluminum is good enough for most uses.

I spend too much time cleaning after other people in the factory and he thinks I'm being disrespectful by not doing it fast enough. This has been an ongoing issue for over 5 years.

A bunch of the guys there leave food all over the floor, full trashcans, parts on the floor, wrong machine operating sheets, wipe boogers on stuff, etc.

If I'm assigned to a job I clean it before I start working because it disgusts me. Issue is I've been getting moved around to perform 3 - 4 different machines a day and now I'm wasting time cleaning up after everybody's messes and actually doing quality control.

He thinks it should be done in 5 minutes but I take my time and spend 30 minutes doing it.

Told him if he actually did his job this wouldn't be happening in the first place (also said this to the CEO).

Basically, I'm surrounded by lazy, dirty retards and I'm getting bitched at for actually following quality control and our safety/cleanliness program.

He's pissed because I told him I'm not angry, I'm apathetic and completely checked out from this place.

Plus, they started punishing my good work by raising my quota and lowering my commission on the parts I made. Then they completely switched to a non-incentive system, so now it doesn't even matter how hard you work because you're getting paid the same no matter what.
>>
>>60987559
Sounds like it's time to look around for a new job.
>>
>>60987569

I know. I've been looking.

I live in the rural midwest and I'm not seeing any jobs that pay what I'm making now. Have honestly thought about getting an $18/hr Walmart job because at least it's air-conditioned and our local Walmart is actually really clean. And I'm tired of factory work.
>>
>>60987342
This is the most shocking part, it's not even being treated as a precious metal. People basically have the same reaction when you show them silver or gold, and it all comes down to personal preference in the end, but one is still treated as precious and the other isn't.
Despite having much more out there it's got 1/10th the market cap of gold, really there will come a time when everyone realizes how massively retarded they were for not buying a silver dime when they were three dollars.

Even with the massive price increases you can buy half dollars for 16 bucks, and people don't immediately recognize how absurd it is that a large precious metal coin can be had for 1.2 hours work at a McJob. People in the past used to work entire days, or a week, for that amount of silver.
>>
>>60987477
>The only thing it's good for is speculation bubbles and roping in retards into your market manipulation just like bitcoin.
Retail doesn't effect the price. It's industrial demand which rises year after year.

the problem is that it remains possible under current conditions that gold is overvalued rather than silver being undervalued. Or that their values have nothing to do with each other.

the paradigms under which gold and silver have historically been valued no longer exist. They might come back or they might not. But right this moment they don't apply. If they did apply nobody here would be able to afford to hold any of it. Back when it was currency it was far too precious for the average person to afford to hoard it.

so we've got a situation where it's suddenly more affordable than it has ever been in the history of humanity, and you guys are betting it will go back to its previous scarcity leaving you wealthy. This might happen, or it might not, but it's easy to understand why the average person on the street assumes we're never going back.

ITT: retards who didn't even bother to look up the silver markets history

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Thursday

People did the exact same shit in 2011 when silver went to $44 an ounce and then got rugpulled. We still haven't recovered. Don't get me wrong, you can make money during the massive manipulation if it happens, but it will come crashing back down again because silvers real value is pretty low.
>>
>>60987632
>It's possible gold is overvalued
It's not though, if this were true central banks and foreign countries and chinamen wouldn't be buying it up, and third worlders also wouldn't be hoarding it
That's the reality of it, it was properly valued at a low value when fiat's domination was strong and the USA was unshakeable. With banks buying it it's delusional to think that gold is somehow overvalued, or that silver would not be pegged to it, for that matter. You can argue it's overvalued once it's not being bought up in massive quantities by major governments.
>Why would the two be related?
Always have been, always will be. If gold is too high compared to silver you'll have billionaires slurping up the silver because they recognize that silver and gold go together and they have the opportunity for a profit.
>It might go back to its previous scarcity, it might not
It's guaranteed with industrial demand and lack of new mines.

The average person is retarded.
>>
>>60987672
>It's not though, if this were true central banks and foreign countries and chinamen wouldn't be buying it up, and third worlders also wouldn't be hoarding it
good point

what I mean is it's possible that the entire value of gold is psychological and that the psychology could suddenly change.

this doesn't appear to be happening, but it has happened to other things in the past (tulips, aluminum) and it COULD happen to gold as well. It just doesn't seem likely.

but we're certainly at a point where most people in the US at least don't see gold as valuable or worth hoarding.
>>
>>60987696
>most people in the US at least don't see gold as valuable or worth hoarding
They do, they just can't afford it.
>>
>>60987702
maybe. They can easily afford silver and don't want it even though their grandparents generally couldn't afford it.

things that were desirable 50 years ago are losing their appeal at this time.
>>
>>60987696
>The entire value of gold is psychological and the psychological value could change suddenly
This would require us to completely throw out the ideas of "banking" and "reserve currency" and basically everything else you could think of that shows a store of wealth.
There's a reason precious metals are chosen as stores of wealth
>Easily verifiable, recognizable, and historically desirable
People recognize their value easily and their unique properties make it so even a layman could ID them with a 1 hour youtube video. People have literally always loved gold and silver, it's still true in the form of jewelry and decoration today.
>A rare metal that you can't just pull out of anywhere and crash the market
The market has been flooded a few times in history but it's few and far between.
>Resistant to corrosion, can sit around forever in near perfect form, extremely unreactive
Gold and silver don't really age or dissolve or anything, coins made of both are still sitting around in good condition from the roman empire. Can't say the same of copper or iron or other metals.

Basically it seems like you don't understand the fundamentals and you're spitballing nonsense arguments.
>The value of not dying is really in your head and psychological, it could change any time
Not true. We're all like, star dust or whatever, dude.
>>
>>60987724
>This would require us to completely throw out the ideas of "banking" and "reserve currency" and basically everything else you could think of that shows a store of wealth.
this has already happened. It's been ongoing for decades, and the people that used real money are dying off while new generations don't even know what it is.
>Basically it seems like you don't understand the fundamentals and you're spitballing nonsense arguments.
I'm not making arguments, I am making observations of what is happening right now.

I can't predict the future and I'm old enough not to care if you're wrong or right about it. What's happening now and what has happened in my lifetime are obvious truths. Not arguments.
Gold and silver are cheaper than they have ever been, and the fact that everyone here has some is proof of that.
>>
>>60987753
>They are just observations bro
Trying to dodge.
>We have thrown out ideas of banking for decades
No, we've been more and more lax but banks and businesses are still required to have certain reserves, and they have to hold certain stocks, and they have to have a certain amount of money safe to get out loans. The fundamentals are all still there, and they're all increasing their gold holdings right now, and the COMEX is massively increasing physical silver holdings.

Basically whatever you're talking about? The exact opposite is happening. All of the banks and warehouses are stocking up as much as they can, and retail interest is gradually growing - the investment market for silver is WAY bigger today than it was 10 years ago, the same is now true of gold with coin shops not even able to have any coins a lot of the time because it's being bought out. Foreigners are rapidly buying up as much gold as they can, too, it's part of Chinese and Indian and a hundred other thirdie country's cultures to buy gold. There isn't less demand in any way and nothing is dying out. There's a renewed interest in the stuff, and more people are interested in finance and money than ever before since we've basically been born into a recession with rapidly inflating currency our whole lives.

Arguments, wrong ones at that.

yes, this is THEIR wealth, not their customers'
that isn't money they're going to spend, that is money they are hoarding. Not because they think it will be money to spend in the future, but because they need something, literally ANYTHING to get their wealth out of fiat.

The value is psychological, more specifically it is memetic. But memes traverse time and they have an inertia to them. Gold money has been a meme for so long it will not be changed except for something truly world shattering to occur. This age of fiat debt money is the exception, not the rule.

While I agree with and utilize your philosophy, for the daring or the ones who really put in the effort, (reading company reports) junior miners can be the next bitcoin like when Coeur Mining went from 10 cents to $65.00 over the course of 10 years in the 1970s.

No That sounds like typical Boomer behavior. Gotta spend it now because you can't take it with ya. Gonna take a little cruise on a big ship.

I know it's inconceivable that heading into perhaps a decade long miserable recession/depression as the US dollar is dying the number one thought on a boomers mind is:
>How soon can I liquidate all my assets and blow it as fast as possible on my own fun and enjoyment.

>Kids? Fuck them, they can pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, just like I did myself.

Dads bootstraps? Minimum wage for a High School student was $39.00/hour ($1.25) in silver in 1964 when a meal was 50 cents, a cheap used car was $100 and rent was $115/mo
Two cans of Coca Cola were 27-cents.
A pack of cigarettes was $1.60.
A new Ford Mustang was $2,320.
A loaf of bread was 30-cents
A ticket to the movies was $1.25 to $2.
A popular record album was about $6.
A postage stamp in the U.S. was 5-cents.

Oh, and by the way, Boomers tended to inherit wealth from their relatives, but don't want to leave anything to their kids but ashes.

we have trouble understanding that money has gone down in value

my uncle bought a house for $10k back in the 60's. His kids don't want it, I don't want it, so he goes to sell it. It's worth $400k at the time.

he can't believe it's worth that much so he sells it for $30k without consulting his family and then brags about how he tripled his money on the house failing to understand he gave away over a third of a million dollars

to this day he's still bragging about buying a house for $10k and selling it for $30k. He doesn't understand what he did.

Gasoline has also gone down, it was 25 cents/gallon in 1964 which is $7.75 in silver today. Most major living expenses were either the same or cheaper in 1964 when compared with the current prices in silver.

If Silver goes up to $200-$300 and stays there for a while, do you think the mint will start issuing 40% halves and dollars again as bullion coins?
The vast majority of people buying in wouldn't be able to buy ASEs, so it would make sense for them to issue smaller bullion coins in such a scenario and a 40% Silver Half or a 40% Silver Dollar would feel more valuable to the clueless normalfags buying in at that point than a 1/10 oz Silver coin.

XRF by itself won't detect a drill and fill. It just scans the surface. If the surface is good the gun is tricked.

ultimately drilling and assaying is the only perfect test, but a sigma is going to be good enough for ounce size stuff. Presumably the cost of making good counterfeits means they're not going to be small.

I got this one when I bought a tube of cull silver maples a few years ago. It's a proof Titanic privy coin. It might just look like it got scratched by accident somehow but when you look at it closely you can tell someone did this on purpose. It looks like they took a nail to it and scratched the hell out of it on both sides.
I have always wondered since I got it if some kid did it not knowing what it was or some woman did it to her boyfriends stack because he pissed her off.
Such a beautiful coin and now it's worth melt value.

Retail hasn't really started to move yet. Maybe they're waiting for $50+. There's not enough economic fear among the NPCs yet.

They are not paying over spot but are they selling with the same premium or are they just jewing their clients? I'm asking because I'm a newfag and I'm trying to buy locally but it's so tempting to just buy online.

We bought a 1/4 oz a few weeks ago, and yes, it's Charles. I didn't look closely at it until we left the store. You can't stop the tide. Thankfully all of our other Maples have Liz.

Silver is right on the cusp of $44 again, (between bid and ask) and it was a hard fought battle. Lots of overnight selling, but silver clawed her way back to $44.

Price for an computer in 1964 would be a million dollars. You can't compare prices for technology in different technological epochs, thats why I stick to bread, rent, cars, insurance, houses, etc. Another difference is that prior to the 80s, things were made to last. People still have microwave ovens and refrigerators and stoves that work from the early 1980s.

Now considering that a $400 microwave in 1980 was like spending $2k today, it better be good.
>>
>>60989920
I haven't been in to this particular store before, but it seemed like their prices were pretty well set, a lot of their non-numismatic stuff was just listed "spot x .15" or something like that. I did the math on a couple and the I know 3 online dealers off the top of my head that have better prices on most of the exact coins they had.
Since you're new I'll say this, don't do what I did here, don't take 5% off spot for any large sell. I just wanted these particular rounds gone while spot is high. I think there's a good shot we get a pullback, but I still have about 80 oz I'm not selling anytime soon. Be careful, you're getting in at a weird time, I was lucky enough to take an interest in this 2 and a half years ago.

Tops in, lmao
>>
>>60989842
Its. I'm in in a state that taxes silver purchases so the online ends up being more expensive, and I don't know enough about sellers to use eBay without getting counterfeits.

i disagree. technology and efficiencies find there way into all things if they can. your bread today is a product of fertilizers which didnt exist 100 years ago

>Another difference is that prior to the 80s, things were made to last
you're letting your nostalgia color your eyes, lots of trash made then
>>
>>60989920
Remember that the LCS are small businesses usually owned by weirdos, this can be good or bad. Always do the math, buying or selling, and compare with the well known and well known bullion dealers. If you want a list I can throw out a few

We're comparing prices from 1964 in silver to current goods that effect a persons cost of living. This topic started when I mentioned Boomers had a much better standard of living on minimum wage than Zoomers have today.

Comparing food, rent, insurance, transportation are entirely valid.

If you want to compare prices 100 years ago we can do that too, and I can prove food was MUCH more expensive, but there was zero inflation until we went off the gold standard. What that means is food effectively decreased in price as productivity increases led to increasing wages, while food remained the same price.

That changed in the 1970s.

>>

>WHAT?!?!?!?!?! I thought it cost 3k?!!!!!!!!
I said the government model. The same one in that old pic

it's listed for $2999 on colt's website
that works out to about 68 ounces of silver at current prices

which you probably already know but just want to be called a retarded asswipe over and over again because you enjoy being humiliated and abused.

are there any australians who are investing in gold mining stocks here?

Silver just broke $44 again, but it was quite a battle for most of the night.
