I was crying real tears bros. I have been buying puts for years and lost so much money. At my lowest, I sold my SPY puts and I switched to calls. Is it really that easy? I can’t believe I would so angry for years. Markets truly only go up. I am never gonna put a put again. Tomorrow, I don’t care what price we open, I am going all in calls

Selling options is the cheat code. Its like having your own money printer. If you find good companies and go far enough out of the money, you cant lose, especially in a bull market. It does require a good bit of capital though.

Intuition is a massive part of trading. It's why high IQ individuals can, at times, struggle to turn a profit, and why retards can also make tons of money.

If you trade options on a stock you are familiar with, for years, you have a solid "feel" for its cycles, volume, etc. That's all to say, the mathematical underpinnings of the market are just more data points to process in order to make a final decision, they don't reveal the answer itself.

first of all, it's made out of peas, not bugs. and it's actually down a ton over the last few days, just prolonged volatility. why that is happening is because of a major debt agreement, bonds due in 2026 were refinanced, the terms were particularly harsh but it buys a lot more time for the company, the new ones are due in 2030. if they can get a deal with mcdonalds or chipotle the stock can 10x or more. they are already selling beyond nuggies in mcdonalds in europe.

there is nothing wrong with lottery models and nothing wrong with insurance models and most trading styles are in between those two models.

on the insurance model (frequent wins, larger losses) you need to be careful with leverage, while on the lottery model you need to be careful with drawdowns.

there is an unusual influx of pseudo-intellectuals giving unsolicited, ambiguous advice using metaphors that they dont quite understand with an added apprehension to affirm themselves as authority figures on the subject with proof of their performance or correct application of said advice. I have observed this over the past two weeks.

I hypothesize this is because these individuals lack depth in trading and mistake getting lucky with being knowledgeable. Their egos are large after a winning streak or perhaps a big win, no doubt preceded by losses that engulf all gains, and feel the need to bestow their self-perceived genius on the ignorant general users, ignoring most people have been here longer and know more.

examples include:
"trading is alot like fishing" posted by someone who likely has very little knowledge in either subject, and the over-reliance on metaphors makes it self-evident. Note that no one had asked this person for advice.

"trading is like insurance or lottery. you need to be careful about larger losses on the insurance model but have frequent wins to offset. On the lottery model you need to be careful about drawdowns."
again, the advice was said to no one. Just random word vomit someone thinks is profound. The writer, lacking an understanding of trading to explain it, must relate it to other things like the lottery or insurance (again, topics they likely dont know anything about.)

"This idea sounds great until X scenario, now it doesnt sound so smart does it?"
a common repose to any specific strategy whereby the writer, having found an exception to the rule, thinks they have thought one step ahead and out-smarted the poster of the strategy. Often inventing non-sensical scenarios that have a insignificant chance of occuring or require extreme recklessness to achieve. This is re-occuring in /smg/.

I could write more about this but it is time I take a nap. keep an eye out for these people. its inorganic, these pseudes showing up

US government investing in Intel is bearish. Since when has government intervention in private business brought anything but disaster?
>New CEO did amazing work on his previous job
Doesn't mean he's a miracle worker. Semiconductors are very, very complicated, as Intel's continued failures over the years show. If it were as easy as just hiring one guy, there would be dozens of TSMCs by now.

Thoughts on AKAM? Seems to be basically NET except profitable. Since AI appeal is an obligatory part of any bull thesis, they also offer a "firewall for AI" product with good appeal to large enterprises afraid to adopt AI for security / liability reasons, and recently kicked off a new offering to monetize AI web traffic, which can directly compete with NET's "pay per crawl."

https://www.akamai.com/newsroom/press-release/no-free-crawls-akamai-tollbit-and-skyfire-turn-traffic-into-revenue

NET has a market cap of $75 billion with $1.5 billion in revenue and, you guessed it, negative profit. In fact, NET has literally never turned a profit. AKAM has $4 billion in revenue which has grown every single year, and half a billion income. Market cap is $11 billion. I can't fathom any reason whatsoever that AKAM should not be a $40 billion company easily.

Bro I am stoked I got 29 shares of the IPO and I am thinking it might be Retirement Quality shareage. This has a double in it (from IPO price) and could be a permanent 5% once it finally hits REIT status and gets income, why ever sell. Would definitely consider buying on any dip because the dividend is a good value play on also getting a company that might be next VISTRA.

>How much did you buy initially, and have you been adding the whole time?
found pic related, old screenshot probably december 2020 since i hadnt sold off my gme calls yet, definitely after gme 2020 q3 when i sold off my shares and left my calls (which got bailed out by ryan cohen)
small position before it went -70% in 2022 lol.
but because i had it in my portfolio the whole time i was still following it occasionally when it suddenly reversed and had a +200% yoy growth out of nowhere after the covid slump (and it had like 8 profitable quarters before it ramped up operating expenses for more growth)
so i kept adding over a couple years in advance of the FRA mandate deadline 2027 to 383,000 shares. now i have a bit under 200,000 shares (actually yeah i still have a shit ton -> prob gonna sell 25k more shares on Friday, expecting another catalyst)

i think it's still a bit premature but i dont wanna be left holding the bag regardless when the mandate deadline is reached late 2027, prob want to get rid of most of it by mid 2026 and leave a tiny position into 2027+ just in case
the story and risk becomes different when the company was under ~50 million market cap vs. ~250 million now. Going to ~500 million market cap would still be impressive as fuck and possible but that's only a 2x at this point with higher risk
>>
>>61024387
same
the only thing i understand is buying call options
i dont even know or look at the prices or charts of the option contracts i buy (not even sure where they are) i simply buy strikes that are reasonable, with timeframes that are reasonable (typically like3-6 months) with mag7 stocks, mostly tesla, when it crashes
so i bought during april 17, and i bought even more in september, when faggots were laughing at my breakout thesis due the simetrical triangle being broken the upside. only on those contracts im up now 131k, spent 38k on them, 420 strike price with jan 16 expiration date, very reasonable to expect that to happen, and guess what, who cares because I will be selling them once i feel like the move is exhausted, so i just buy myself enogugh time to be right, and i try to capture a violent move to the upside after a crash. I have No fucking idea of any of the technical aspects of options beyond expiration and strike price (if expiration time arrives and your strike price is below you are fucked). i also understand the concept of tetha decay, basically that it loses value teh more closer it gets to the expiration date. no fucking Idea of the math behind of this.
I ALSO do not understand anything beyond buying calls. i think buying puts means that you are betting that the price will go down, not up, so you would be buying an strike price and you want it to be as lower as possible by the time of expiration date i gues... okay
then the convoluted shit begins. the selling of options. selling call option means the opposite of buying, that is, you want the price to go down, so you get paid instantly the so called premium, and as long as it does not expire above the strike price, you have to do nothing, but if you are above this strike price, it means you must buy the 100 shares that 1 contract represents, at that strike price.. or something like that. so you may be buying at a piece of shit price, then it crashes and you baghold
selling puts same but up

i actually got shilled gsi.v (and also png.v at same time which ended up doing pretty well too but i didnt buy) in smg
hypothetically anyone could have found it through their stock screener if you're screening for <50 million market cap, and peg <1 or something, maybe just ps <5 to be more broad, you get the idea, prob better not to use pe/peg in stock screener because there's many "unprofitable" tickers that are growing revenues faster than expenses -> you can expect that they can switch to profitability very fast once they let off the gas on growth
there's 10,000 companies out there and you can use a stock screener to filter it down to 500-1000 smallcaps, go through them 1 by 1, instantly skip if theres a red flag (i.e. no revenues L M A O, i'd miss out on 1 in 1000's like HGRAF but save myself from the 999 in 1000 that get rekt), not too much cashburn/stock dilution, need to have third-party expert / industry giant customer vouching for their business/product.
and the most important part, it has to be a bull market . l m a o.
if it's a speculative pick, or not glaringly obvious winner, or just stock price outrunning organic growth, etc, stay the fk out of it when the market is expensive, i made that mistake on ai dashcams GSI.V itself when i held my first batch through the 2021 smallcap bubble

isnt trump doing USD1 stablecoin pegged to USD? if it's not a scam or whatever then it will absolutely increase liquidity
you got all these people in third world coutnries who cant buy USD or US stocks directly but have access to crypto somehow

all else being equal, if you increase liquidity in the market, lower interest rates, + also print a buncha stimulus, then the market will go up because where else are people going to put their excess cash into? gold is already up a lot already so people just rotate back into other shit
we've seen this shit happen already just in 2020-2021 we're going full circle again, eh well the market always just cycles after all

let it go up, just be hedged, the pullback will be more violent the higher it tries to go up, it's basically like a rubber band since ultimately stocks are still tied to an actual business/company and there will be another 2025/2022/2020/2018/etc. dump to weed out all the shitty speculative stocks with no revenues

>What are the chances that nuclear energy will be used?
In 8 years? They only options are to restart existing nuke plants, but this labor intensive and expensive. The new modular units do not exist and have not have approved designs. The only way most of the energy can be built that fast is natural gas turbines. GE spun off GE Vernova which produces the turbines in US along with switching and transmission, transformers - look at their stock price the last year. They will need yuuuge amounts of gas, so they need to connect to gas pipelines. Energy Transfer LP is a large midstream company but I dumped their shitty stock. Their is a lot natural gas available in the permian basin in Texas at the Waha gas hub and the price is sometimes negative because they need to get rid of it. I am betting at least some of the new data centers, powered by gas turbines, will be in permian basin or at least close to it - they has shit tons of open land and gas.

The metric is standardized testing which has innumerable flaws. China turned all it's people into human calculators but they are retarded bug people who dont know not to touch live wires. Critical thinking is not accurately measured with standardized tests. Many schools teach how to succeed at taking the tests, not how to think, because the government and public-at-large have equated good standardized test scores with intelligence.
>>
>>61025754
can you "teach" critical thinking?

After the bell on Bloomberg I heard one of them say ADP is not to be mixed with NFP. Like implying NFP is the important one, can't remember if she (iirc) actually said it. Anyways, ADP was the one in July telling us how it really is while NFP was producing trashdata with 90% error. Unironically insane to say this
