Main thing about options trading is its actually best to take longer dated positions. Short dated ones eat tons of shit on theta decay and just random walk. Its the ones 6+ weeks out that make good money for their value.
Also never trade options on low volume stock. You get fucked getting into and getting out of the position, and there's no good liquidity.

That's why its a good idea to get about 30k together before doing it. Each position usually takes thousands to put together, and if you want to average down you need thousands more.
But man, if you can get on a good stock on a bullrun you can make absolute bank buying calls, selling them once they go 100% or more, then buying a new set higher up and further out. NVDA was a fun ride with that.

The truth is that being long in TSLA right now is actually a massive gamble. This company is betting on autonomous taxis supplanting car ownership. >ETFs at first
the most import rule, do not lose money, grow your money. Investing $600/month is far better than 95% of the population and you need to develop safe investing practices for the long haul. Invest safely, watch how money grows (there will be some sudden pullbacks, then recovery) slow and steady to gain experience. You need that experience to analyze any individual stocks you want to invest in, and take small positions if you do.

That would actually be a bullish argument for TSLA. Fewer people may be able to afford cars, but everyone still needs to get around. Robotaxis can be almost as cheap as public transport, without the downsides. If we get there, we will see the same debate emerge around car ownership as we have now with buying/renting homes.

The theoretical value of stocks is that they entitle you to a share of the company's earnings. All stock values hinge on the assumption that some day, down the line, it will be worth holding the stock and collecting the earnings, rather than just selling the stock to someone else at a profit. If that assumption does not exist, stocks have no actual reason to be worth anything and any bull thesis at that point is simply greater fool theory. With current valuations, it would take multiple, multiple decades for a single share to pay itself off.

Nonsense.

Your investment life is split in two phases: the accumulation phase, and retirement.
During your accumulation phase, pay yourself first. You should not need to take money out of your investment account to spend it on junk.
Even if you get dividends, reinvest them back in.

When you have enough to retire, you can start 3% withdrawals adjusted for inflation after that. 4% if you retire at 60+.

What's your monthly expenses like?
Having more than 6-12 months of cash saved is not very optimal.

If you're afraid to invest it, that means your allocation does not fit your risk profile.
Don't put it all into a stocks ETF although that is optimal for 20+ years investment windows. Just do a 60/40 split or whatever makes you comfortable.
Holding cash long term is a bigger risk. Your wealth will literally slip out of your fingers.

You're right that its better to invest the money than hold it in my account (although the account makes about 100/month from APY, but I could get far more fron good investments)
I'll probably cave and toss a couple grand into my Schwab account. Part of it may also be that psychologically i look at it more as "purchasing" instead of investing in future wealth
