new 100% china tariff dropped

>It has just been learned that China has taken an extraordinarily aggressive position on Trade in sending an extremely hostile letter to the World, stating that they were going to, effective November 1st, 2025, impose large scale Export Controls on virtually every product they make, and some not even made by them. This affects ALL Countries, without exception, and was obviously a plan devised by them years ago. It is absolutely unheard of in International Trade, and a moral disgrace in dealing with other Nations.

>Based on the fact that China has taken this unprecedented position, and speaking only for the U.S.A., and not other Nations who were similarly threatened, starting November 1st, 2025 (or sooner, depending on any further actions or changes taken by China), the United States of America will impose a Tariff of 100% on China, over and above any Tariff that they are currently paying. Also on November 1st, we will impose Export Controls on any and all critical software.

>It is impossible to believe that China would have taken such an action, but they have, and the rest is History. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

>1st trump truthsocial post timed roughly 6 hrs ago(2.5~ hrs after market open) talked said possibility of tariffs

>2nd 25~ minutes ago, an hour after market close on a friday, 100% tariffs

I prefer to believe that he was thinking how the market would react and used the 1st post as a test so he delayed the 2nd post until friday close(i love this). If i recall correctly, specifically the "post bad news for market on a friday after close" part is an exact repeat of what he did before? I think it's going to be okay and there's going to be a framework of a deal.

>time in the market > timing the market
that dumbest most midwit phrase ever for many reasons for example the fact is if the US stock market continue to return 7% a year adjusted for inflation in 40 years time the US stock market cap would be 20 times the US gdp (assuming the US continue to grow at 2% which is generous) which make no rational to justify
another reason its dumb is if you invested in myriad of countrys that lost wars, collapsed in civil wars or went into decline your investment would be 0 and you would need to luck out by investing into the future hegemon, so if as example the US lose against China, you can say good bye to your investments
another example why its dumb is much of the market curent valuation hinge on LLMs and if they fail to make massive productivity gains and trillions in profit the economy would be giga fucked and the US might enter decades long bear market
you know the famous 1 dollar in the US stock market of the 1800s chart, that midwits love to spam, the funny is, its not only extremely lucky that in 1800s you would had bet on the futur hegemon of the 2000s, it also misleading since if you bough in 1800s you stocks would be worth 0 dollar since all the company's that existed back then long collapse and no longer exist
>>
>>61081230

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! IT HAPPENED AGAIN. The one time I decide to go hard on an investment (gamble) it just tanks and tanks. All my previous bets were low like 4 figures worth of options and I'd see them pump knowing I could've made way more had I stop being scared. And then finally an "opportunity" arises. My mind is telling me it's a bad idea from what I understood but nay look at the V pumps despite the logic. This time I dump 5 figures in. Well, well, well I was actually right to not buy at all. It dumps, it dumps, and it dumps. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! THIS ISN'T FAIR!!!!!! SEEMINGLY ALMOST EVERY SINGLE TIME I BET A LOT THIS HAPPENS!!!!! WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN TO MYSELF FOR ONCE THE MARKET REACTED CORRECTLY TO THE NEWS INSTEAD OF GOING "LOL NAH WE PUMPING RIGHT BACK UP!"

>how is it dumb if none of what you said will happen?
also forgot to address this, yes all of what i said could be wrong, there is a possibility that the US some how could defeat China and stay the hegemon for the futur 40 years, there is a possibility that LLMs some how become smart or productive and make trillions of dollars worth of profit, there is a possibility the US gdp growth instead of slowing down like it did in the past decades suddenly start growing 7% a year to justify the stock market growth
but it is a bet and a massive one at that, my point is that just investing in sep 500 and expecting that you would magically make 7% or more a year on average forever without any justification of thinking for why, then you are a dumbass sheep

it will only get worse or better as the years pass (if you are a accelerationist/revolutionary who want real change) i am 99% sure that from now until 2035 there will be WW3 (probably not nuclear) unless the US cucks and leave the pacific and surrender it world hegemony without a fight, for the simple reason that by 2035 the Chinks military would by far have surpassed the US and all it puppets combined, out numbering and massively outproducing them in in every thing relevant, and those would have 0 rational reason not to attack the US and kick it out of the pacific by force , so my prediction is that unless the US cucks out of the pacific, either the US attack China 2026-2030 in a gamble to attempt to stop it before it become to powerful or the Chinese would attack the US between 2030-2035 after they and their allies can garantie a conventional victory

All Nvidia chips need this one weird mineral element inside for it to not overheat. This one mineral is very very difficult to refine. There's only one refinery on earth and it's in bumfuck nowhere in China. This refinery is owned by a Chinese government agency.

If you noticed, China is always moving with perfect timing recently. Their announcement of their own H1B program happened during the H1B scandal in the US. The meeting with Modi as soon as the us imposes tarrifs on India. Repositioning their ships when the US moved carriers to the middle east for Iran. The grain deal with Argentina as soon as they get a bailout from the US. The deal with Brazil, etc.

Now this comes comes during a government shutdown and Nvidia over leverage. I don't know what is their game plan but they're playing a perfect game

It would be beneficial to retire from the race for being the hegemon. Russia did. Didn't take them long to come back much stronger at all. But its the race to be the sole power that saps. Even when there is no competitor

I'm doing my PhD in geochemistry and am an expert in rare earth elements. I probably know more about them than anyone reporting on them in the news. Let me explain the situation to /smg/ as best I can. The first thing I need to establish is that there is an important distinction between "critical minerals" and "rare earth elements" or "rare earth minerals". When a geologist talks about REEs, we mean only the lanthanides + Sc and Y. However, laypeople often use these terms interchangeably, so you'll see people talk about something like Co or Li or Pd as though it's a rare earth element when in reality it's simply a critical/strategic mineral. What China has a pseudo-monopoly on is the REEs.

This pseudo-monopoly exists for two reasons. First, China is the lowest cost producer of REEs due to two exceptional carbonatite and clay type deposits that exist within their borders. REEs are not actually scarce, but they are typically hosted in highly refractory minerals that are difficult to physically and chemically process, resulting in large energy expenditure and environmental complications. REE mining in China and in Myanmar (where the mining is effectively under Chinese control) is not remotely clean, but it is cheap. However, mining there are many REE deposits around the world that could be brought into production if REE prices were sufficiently high to justify it.

The more significant moat that China has around the REEs is in their processing. The Chinese facilities that process and refine the REEs actually used in technologies are far more pure and efficient than anything yet developed in the west. There are alternative facilities, but they are simply not as good as the ones in China.

There are many, many scientists working on diversifying the REE supply chain because we have seen this coming for a very long time. Check the proceedings of recent GSA conferences to get an idea of what's being researched.

The are doing that already. Some here. Lots more to come.

>With China weaponizing exports (e.g., rare earths, graphite restrictions per CSIS and Atlantic Council reports, Oct 2025), the US is pivoting to minerals where domestic/NA/allied supply can ramp fast—echoing your tungsten/silver chats. The USGS 2025 draft list adds 6 high-risk ones (potash, silicon, copper, silver, rhenium, zirconium) based on GDP disruption potential, but for "next choices," I'm highlighting lower-risk standouts: those with strong US production (>20% global) or ally chains (Canada/Australia), minimizing China exposure (<10% reliance). These align with DoD/DoE strategies for EVs, defense, chips—scarcity plays like your silver stack, but with less squeeze drama.

I got 9500 in this market. If it goes down to 5000 it'll take 6 months to get there. By that time I'll have a pile of nearly 100k sitting out of the market ready to buy in. When the market bottoms and recovers, TQQQ will 6x, gold miners and silver miners will do another 7x, I'll have a million bucks in 3 years. I'll get my 5000 dollars back in the long run and benefit more from not selling. If I had done this in 2022 instead of panic selling and losing 5k back then, I'd be up 7x from where my stocks bottomed out in June 2022.

There have been REE mines in the US and Canada that have operated intermittently based on commodity prices for years, though they are not on the scale of the Chinese mines. That said, I don't think that the REE demand from chips is even that exceptional as a lot of the people may think. It's once again an issue of conflating REEs with critical minerals in general. The most significant export restriction that China put into place was on the refining technologies, but chip manufacturers should be able to get their hands on enough "good enough" refined REEs for their purposes. I think that more REE intensive industries like wind turbines and other technologies that rely on permanent magnets are likely to be more impacted.

>They're not on the scale of the Chinese mines
But they don't need to be right? They only need to be as efficient as the west needs, not the whole world
>>
>>61082808
Are there specific elements that China has cornered the market with? My understanding was that due to sheer scale, the US would never be able to produce the amount of new Gallium it needs.
