>There have been REE mines in the US and Canada that have operated intermittently based on commodity prices for years, though they are not on the scale of the Chinese mines. That said, I don't think that the REE demand from chips is even that exceptional as a lot of the people may think. It's once again an issue of conflating REEs with critical minerals in general. The most significant export restriction that China put into place was on the refining technologies, but chip manufacturers should be able to get their hands on enough "good enough" refined REEs for their purposes. I think that more REE intensive industries like wind turbines and other technologies that rely on permanent magnets are likely to be more impacted.

So list some companies that will fill this requirement and their progress and time to market for the supply bottleneck

today i lost 8% because i failed to recognize a key difference between today's tweet and all of his past tweets

when he was singlehandedly fucking over the global economy in april, he was doing it proactively. both the tariffs, then the delays, deals and exceptions, sprang unprompted from the mind of donald trump

today he was forced to react to a major chinese escalation in the trade war

this is no longer a situation that he has the power to control. his chickens have come home to roost. he sowed the wind, and now he reaps the whirlwind

>>61084492
>But Ive already been bagholding for MONTHS and literally JUST got back to where I was before that
So if you're down by like, 50%, you have to 2x just to break even
If it's 80% down, you have to go 5x.

If you can cut losses before they get too deep, it really helps your bottom line. You also have to be reasonable about trades, I don't think you can just enter them and wait, especially if it's a multi-year catalyst. At that point you should be averaging in or trying to buy dips, which still turns it into a series of choices and trades, like a marathon, instead of a coin flip

tldr, pace yourself and make your trades sustainable so you can take multiple losses in a row and keep trucking

1) cheap price-to-revenue
2) third-party giant vouching for their business (Lafarge for Cemetrix)
3) generating cash = doesnt have to dilute shares to stay alive = lower downside risk for me = also upside obviously if they generate even more cash later
4) growth potential albeit it's lumpy+also seasonal because of the nature of the business = upside potential

ultimately i just want cash generating companies i can get for cheap so i can minimize loss and also reap profits -> low risk with high reward, i don't want high risk with super-high reward

also it's easier to find mispriced companies when you look at pennyscams with zero analyst coverage

you're not competing against wallstreet because whats the point of a company going from $100m to $200m valuation to them when they're managing billions. It's a 2x for retail poorfags but for wallstreet it's not even a +0.1%

still id like to try another cycle, surely a cash-generating and growing pennyscam trading at $4 with $3 cash per share no debt is basically at the floor anyways, why chase NVDA that could dump -50% when i can chase a pennyscam that could grow 2x and most likely only dump -25%

Yup, I'm down like 300k this week but it barely phases me because I've been expecting something like this since the trade war started. I wanted to see everything but I didn't want to pay short term capital gains taxes so I guess I get to baghold for the next few years.
>>
>>61084870
it was a counterexample to break the claim. more frequent trading tends to correlate with lower risk overall. there's no reason to throw out shorter time horizon strategies

I'm working on an indicator that does volatility projections. Is that sort of thing accurate?
For example on the monthly, WMT seems to have a consensus range of 81.50 to 94.00 by June. But you can see the recent trends of 2024 onward have been outside of the 2023 volatility projection, so that either means the stock is performing very well, or it will revert to the mean and come back down to normal levels

I went down 28%, I bought AMZN call options after the first big dip. I feel confident about a bounce though.

yeah I didn’t bother to read about the context, was more poking at the anon who said investing with a timeframe of less than 5 years is gambling, which isn’t true.

the anon gambling his down payment is definately gambling

also guys we are sinking. someone made an /smg/ with proper SEO and it looks like they’re getting traction

depends completely on your implementation. Given you’re calling it an ‘indicator’, probably not though

I'm just slapping it into tview because it has good data sources and shit
According to chatgpt, what I need to do now is actually score each candle to quantify it within each vol cone and weight them accordingly, which isn't terribly difficult

I’m trying to make a site for people like you, out of curiosity would you pay $5/mo for beta access (like a kickstarter dev fund thing) to a site that allowed you to easily do analysis on this kind of stuff and build better indicators/models and backtest them?
>>
>>61085456
To be fair, soldering would be easier if you could do that...

t. very bad solderer

She's holding the metal part. If the iron was plugged in and turned on, that part would be like 350 degrees F.

KEK all my leveraged cryptopositions got liquidated, gains and losses. Luckily I was more short than long and farming yield, but damn, a lot of people lost money after that announcement.
>>
>>61085458
I'm not opposed to the idea but I know I wouldn't pay shit.
I know my way around C#, python and R, I'm just rubbish at connecting a data source. Conversely, I'm forcing myself to use tview out of laziness and it's also just good enough.

I think a good platform would support more quant-like tools for analysis. At the end of the day, if you're backtesting a strategy, it should come down to risk management and shit, which is on the trader, more than the strategy itself
>>
>>61085489
>I never understood the problem with this
Its a typical DEI marketing video and the model obviously has no idea what she is doing. The handle is the black rubbery part with the med brown section near the end. Below that is super fucking hot and would instantly burn her fingers very badly. As another anon responded it like 350f. The slightest touch burns you badly because of the high temp and the metal conducts the heat very well.
>>
>>61085552
I wouldn’t pay either but I’m hoping there’s people who will. Basically trying to make something like QuantConnect but wya better UI and workflow
>>
>>61085637
Oh yeah, also watch out because I get the impression that any platforms that provide pricing info (that isn't scraped from yahoo) seems to need you to use shit through data vendors. A lot of historical data is good enough, especially daily candles within the last 5-20 years, but more specific stuff might need formal contracts/api keyes
>>
>>61085458
I just want a site that makes it easier to access options data and perform custom calculations in adjacent columns.

>If the iron was plugged in and turned on, that part would be like 350 degrees F.
I've removed a muffin from a 350 degree oven with my bare hands. The heat wasn't particularly bad. I'm an unusually tough guy though.
>>
>>61085658
Did you ever bump your hand against the heating element at the top of the oven?
I did once. There's still a scar on my hand from the burn 15 years later.
That's what grabbing the metal part of a soldering iron would be like

Yeah that is the difference between convection and conduction. Heat transfer from air is considerably slower than if you were to directly touch the heating elements.

Well it took about 5 hours but I managed to finish my indicator, I actually hate the way Pine does indexing ... close[0] is the far right bar, so if you have to iterate something, it's always decreasing as you move right. The bars themselves are indexed with [0] being to the left, so that bar_index is like 5000 on the far right. Awful.

So basically the way it works is that it slaps down a forward volatility cone based on ATR, and I've arbitrarily put it at 3, 6, 9, 12, 16, 20, 24, 30, 36,48, 60 months to give a range over 5 years.
Within that cone, every candle is scored; each OHLC value is assigned a value of 1.0 if it's dead middle in the cone, and 0.0 as it approaches or passes the outside. A candle has a maximum of 1.00 score. Each cone then receives a score, with 100% being every candle being dead center. This affects how bright the cone is when rendering it.

So as you can see on the gold monthly chart, it >implies that we will see gold at 2100 to 2600 assuming it reverts to the mean in exactly one year from now
>>
i almost lost 1 month of gains how do i cope
