Meanwhile, bitcoin is dumping on the news again, back to 110k. I genuinely think it might be over for crypto for this run. Previous cycles it was super secret funny internet money, the preserve of computer nerds. Everyone was cheering as it went mainstream this time around, but now that it's much easier for normies and institutions to put money into the crypto ecosystem, it's also much easier for them to pull it out. It was already struggling, crabbing all year while stocks and commodities boomed, and then as soon as Bitcoin makes a tiny little ATH the exchanges engineer a titanic flash crash to wipe out as many people as they can, and handily remind all of tradfi that crypto is still some shady shit. Now when you take a look at it, in the final year of what's supposed to be a big bullrun, BTC has achieved a measly 10% (if it holds this price). Just about keeping up with the return you'd get from the S&P 500, but with much more volatility and huge unpredictable drawdowns along the way. Best not mention the alts, because those are an absolute bloodbath, as are the treasury companies. Meanwhile all sorts of sectors are popping off - rare earths, quantum, anything vaguely AI-related, delivering triple-digit returns over very short timescales. Gold has pumped more in a month than Bitcoin has managed all year. If you're a fund manager or a normie with a share portfolio thinking about where to put your money, weighing up risk vs return, does crypto look like a very good investment right now?

TLDR - time to open a short on MSTR?

>>
>>61111801
Top 10 got absolutely murdered last Friday, never mind the top 100. Yes, maybe there's a chance for solid recovery if an altseason ever manifests, but it's not looking especially like it will at the moment. Needs BTC to really get going if that's going to happen, and instead I see people seriously talking about whether it will drop down and fill that wick all the way to sub-100. If that's genuinely what's in store for 'uptober' then I can't see it making a comeback, no time left in the cycle when everybody expected to be approaching a top by about now. If that happens then every single alt will get absolutely slaughtered, they look like an extremely risky investment right now. If that's what you're considering then wait for BTC to properly turn things around before you buy.

A PROGRAM FOR LIVING
October 14
When we retire at night, we constructively review our day. . . . On awakening let us think about the twenty-four hours ahead. . . . Before we begin, we ask God to direct our thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self-pity, dishonest or self-seeking motives.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 86

I lacked serenity. With more to do than seemed possible, I fell further behind, no matter how hard I tried. Worries about things not done yesterday and fear of tomorrow's deadlines denied me the calm I needed to be effective each day. Before taking Steps Ten and Eleven, I began to read passages like the one cited above. I tried to focus on God's will, not my problems, and to trust that He would manage my day. It worked! Slowly, but it worked!

You can achieve serenity, anon. Just think about the 24 hours ahead. Let God help you make the path to reach your goals. When I make choices in my life that are not just what I want, but are aligned with God's will for me, I know I am doing the best for myself as someone who cares about me would. Do this for yourself today anon, let God direct your thinking for today's trading day. There will be many choices to slurp but ultimately it is you who will decide how the next 24 hours plays out.

That means the Soviet Union wins. US' lack of influence leads to China working with the Soviet Union, preventing the system from collapsing, meanwhile the US can't find cheap labor and cut costs becoming less competitive and therefore it's GDP shrinking in the 80s which thus leads to a weaker military complex. That means NATO can't expand and the Soviet Union's influence grows larger, ultimately dictating western capitalism loses to the communists military prowness.

The Sino-Soviet Split had already happened and Beijing had no intentions to work with the Soviets anymore after that point, Nixon saw it as an opportunity to cozy up to China to undermine the Soviets long-term. China was also not a major influence on American labor prices until the 90s, in the 80s Japan was seen as the manufacturing competitor and the US actually was sending low-cost manufacturing more to Mexico and Indonesia than China.

This. Plus its clear that the Fed and Congress has no concerns about breaking the rules and pumping markets when theyre stressed. In 08 Congress was hesitant to do anything and the Fed felt they were overstepping their powers. In 2020 during covid both basically agreed just pump it and ignore any rules.

Markets cant go down long term anymore. Doomers will struggle to figure this out for another 10 years.

The S&P 500 has had an average of 8% annual yield for over the last 100 or so years, not just during bull runs, those 8% include all crashes and bear markets that have happened during that time. Unless you think we are in for something worse than the great financial crisis or the dot.com bubble, that number is in fact going to hold for the next 100 years, until proven otherwise.

I like them because the chinks own the fucking appliances market, especially these two companies, i.e. Midea supplies parts and materials used by many of its competitors i.e. Samsung, Whirlpool, Hisense, the Turk brands. They have huge advantages in terms of automation, manufacturing hubs location, supply chains are fully localised. And finally if you see the EPS development through the years, it's almost a straight line up. I think these two companies are well positioned to capture most of the appliances growth that is going to come from less developed markets, such as Africa, which will be the only markets growing in the next 20 years. What I like about the sector is that appliances might be cyclical and in part tied to the real estate market, but in reality when your stuff breaks down (and nowadays it lasts a lost less than before), its no longer easy to repair or replace parts, especially if it's an older model.. so you just go and get cheap new one. and modern life is not really possible without a fridge, a washing machine etc.
As for Novo Nordisk, for me this is one of the 3 best companies to ever get listed in europe, it's a long-term holding for me and I don't really care about the recent fluctuations. In fact, I used them to increase my holding.
If you are truly interested in international markets I strongly recommend Interactive Broker (IBRK), you can get exposure to many markets for reasonable fees.
