Basically what people consider as "the market always goes up" is just the risk known as beta. It waxes and wanes overtime during bear and bull runs. But there are other forms of return outside of that known as alpha, with small cap value being the most well known, that still perform during bear markets when the stock market is adjusting to the fundamentals getting too high

Essentially you can tilt your portfolio to reduce its overall pe ratio during times like this when you think the bubble is getting too high
>>61118441
I'd say they are more retarded than ever. Even in dividend communities we'll get idiots (sorry but people who give financial advice without doing proper research piss me off, it's like recommending a recipe you've never made with ingredients that are poisonous) that will say
>"Oh don't forget to get a good growth ETF because growth means it grows the fastest!"
no
that's not a thing
they will tell this to young investors who would benefit way more from just sticking to the market or going for a small capu value tilt since they won't retire for 40+ years

alpha is outperformance, it's not located anywhere until it happens babe. and you can project growth out. it's not an exact science but it's pretty obvious a company like microsoft is going to be able to grow more than a tobacco telcom or oil because of economic trends, most of the world still doesn't have a computer and more and more adopt every year, their exposure to growth markets like cloud computing, their research into ai and software... stock picking isn't easy but it's not impossible, and there are people paid to do exactly that, identify growth stocks. look at how well arkk has done, look at the vug etf even. all the outperformance of small cap value was in the past, in a different market that was far less efficient, in a different economy where technology progressed slower, in a different era where america had an edge in manufacturing. i know you want to be right, i know you have a chip on your shoulder about tech and the market, i used to be the same way. but it didn't serve me, and now that i've taken the growth pill i'm doing so much better. you're still young and you have plenty of time. stop being so stubborn, accept that economists and professionals on wall street probably know more about investing than you, and just buy the index instead of quarantining yourself from the best opportunity ever. or better yet buy arkk. or best yet, merge your assets with mine.

Honestly, Jaime Dimon has the best speech of the year while listening to it, it was very presidential and he should run for the Democrats. I truly believe historians will see 2025 as one of the most pivotal years in American History. How much everything that sets up the 2030s exploded. First, everyone hates tariffs right? But man are they working out nicely. Its like having 300 billion LIQUID yearly is seriously insane. Its going to pay off in so many interesting ways in the future, gives us this cheat code to do whatever we want. Like when we used it to legit Save Argentina's entire economy for just 20 billion of it. Seriously, LatAm is being saved from ruin because Argentina is its #2 economy and we did that.

We will be able to fund Gaza rebuild too.

Secondly, what we are doing with AI Spending is incredible, OpenAI has been able to lowkey take over the world of AI and Chinas penetration is basically non existent. We already have full motion movies coming out shits nuts. Data centers are building and we have by far the most AI compute and Quantum Computer companies will also use it well.

Thirdly, getting self sufficient on these metals and REEs it should've been done long ago but so far its going bang on, 1.5 Trillion investment will Warp Speed this.

Fourth, nuclear power is going ape shit. OKLO will make it possible to power everyone with safeish nuclear, its going to revolutionize electric.

2025 has literally been the best year in American history for business deals. /essay off

My concern is that the rates "aren't good", eg if you buy them through a bank, you're getting their dregs they didn't want. Having said that, unless you're buying some absolute shit tier company, I've never had a problem with them, even if the market is rough. I think I was getting 3-5.5% on them, depending. Might be a good place to park your cash long term if you have that weight allocated in your portfolio; otherwise something like SGOV or a money market account is a good way to get daily interest on your temporary cash

I dare you to ask random people in the street what savings or investments they have. Just say you're doing an informal survey for your college class.
I guarantee 90% of them will either say none, or if they do, a mutual fund at a bank. So many normalfags think big cash reserve = wealth, which is wrong because they keep it in a debit account and lose to inflation. They don't keep appreciating assets.

And that's when they're not saddled with debt and daily/monthly expenses

That's what I'm saying! The average person is financially FUCKED. They don't save, and the tiny fraction that do, have it parked as deprecating cash.
How often do you hear people say something like "I'm saving my points for Christmas"? Okay great, they have $500 per year they can spend for holiday shopping, but the other 11 months of the year, they could have just spent them as they accumulated, then put the money into a bond or something. Granted, that'd give them like $15 a year difference, but not making little *choices* like that and stacking is why they're poor

Sure, but we're not there yet. I'd wager you can be a little bit silly with your money until about February. I'm trimming a bit a in January, and letting my trailing stops do the work after that. Hard to tell when the downturn will kick in, but the music is still playing

Honestly, people need to read the WEF report every year. It gives a good overview of what the globalists are doing.
https://www.weforum.org/publications/global-risks-report-2025/

>2 year risk horizon: misinformation, weather, wars, polarization, cybercrime
>10 year risk horizon: weather, ecosystem collapse, change to systems, natural resource shortages, misinformation

Look at the REE stuff, gold hoarding, Venezuela oil ... people are getting their chips into place for the next decade. They know there are going to be shortages and they're trying to secure their holdings.
>>
>>61119040
No, the S&P500 was only up 33% last year. Which easily clears 90% of institutional investors, professional traders and retail gamblers. Too early for oil bro. The chart looks bearish, going to $45. Pic related.

However, $40 oil is a blessing in its own way because it will force most Permian Basin oil producers to close up shop, which will lead to oil rising back above $65 several months later. H2 2026 is when oil may start to take off again, H1 will be the time to buy the lows and get positioned.

Little bit of friendly advice; watch your losses before you cut.

Having a 28% loss means you have to have a 39% win to break even. That's 11% of gains you have to make up.

By comparison, if you cut way sooner at 7% losses, you'd only need a 7.5% win to break even, a 0.5% makeup. The more you lose the harder it is to recover.
>>
Best piece of advice I've gotten so far: overthinkers get shit on in the market, all their plans already got baked into the price. Retards get the bags because they do before they think.

Of course kick the tires after ya buy, that paired with always putting in stops, you cannot lose. Shkreli said so himself and he apparently doesn't follow his own advice. Frikkin king of overthinkers shkreli is, when he steps outta pharma tickers.

No reason any of yous gotta endure another day of having a downslope on yo port charts. Of course mine was pretty down slopey after liberation day, but since April been bouncin up a channel, feelin like it's gonna be a rerun of last year where buncha shitcos popped off left and right.

And I got a retarded notion that china tickers gonna be mooning, like they did last fall. Not a huge china ticker observer but the ones I've looked at are dead calm, too calm...

Dang might be china pump season, random ticker that I found by throwing a dart at the Barron's back pages did 8% today but 18% after hours

EZGO

But another one after hours pumping, CBUS, they make dna altered seeds, different process than GMO, and takes months to develop a variant, instead of years. Imma check my notes but they seemed shady, so no long term holding, just in and out don't try to time the top, better to walk away with slightly less profits that a loss or break even

You should on dips but only if watching closely for drawdowns; sell at a loss from the day before if the situation turns red beyond one Trump tweet and wait.

Bears getting fucked as usual
>>
>>61119130
Try it out a few weeks on sim. Harder than ya think

By one yt traders estimates it will take ya 1 year to get consistent in futures trading. I've been at it 9 months, a slight sliver of consistentcy starting to appear, but can't trade 2 days cuz work schedule, so any progress now is to break even.

If you can't devote at least 3 hours a day for either open or close, don't bother, you need to have the ability to concentrate, I thought I could trade at work with limit orders, nah they at best went untouched. Probably need a few years to get good enough for a quick glance one trade then done.

Funny enough I also do value investing and that paid me much sooner than futures. In fact every other ticker I passed on pumped at one point, so now I'm thinkin just to buy 1 share of 12 tickers in basement bin prices, just watch for the start of a pump

MY CHECKLIST, NOT YOURS
October 15
Gossip barbed with our anger, a polite form of murder by character assassination, has its satisfactions for us, too. Here we are not trying to help those we criticize; we are trying to proclaim our own righteousness.

TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 67

Sometimes I don't realize that I gossiped about someone until the end of the day, when I take an inventory of the day's activities, and then, my gossiping appears like a blemish in my beautiful day. How could I have said something like that? Gossip shows its ugly head during a coffee break or lunch with business associates, or I may gossip during the evening, when I'm tired from the day's activities, and feel justified in bolstering my ego at the expense of someone else.

Character defects like gossip sneak into my life when I am not making a constant effort to work the Twelve Steps of recovery. I need to remind myself that my uniqueness is the blessing of my being, and that applies equally to everyone who crosses my path in life's journey. Today the only inventory I need to take is my own. I'll leave judgment of others to the Final Judge — Divine Providence.

It can feel good in the moment anon but try not to gossip. A life worth living means helping others not hurting others. If there is a trader in need be kind to him, by doing so you are really helping yourself spiritually. If a trader pisses you off let God judge him and leave yourself out of unnecessary conflict. Be the best trader you can be anon, take inventory of your day and always be looking to improve no matter how uncomfortable change can be.
>>
>>61119026

Also, buying gold would have been good. Few years ago. Why buy now and end up bagholding like people did in 1980's, 2000's, and other meltups.
>>
>>61118874
if you bought before rates started to go down, bonds are all about the interest rate game.. I bought a bunch of JNK cause im collecting 7% and the price in theory should go up per share as the rates are slowly dropped, although much of it is priced in
tldr Bonds are only good if you buy in before rates start dropping
>>

The VIX is not a stock. It's an indicator. It will always go down. The same way RSI will always revert to 45. The over time average is that VIX will revert to 0, and that's why shorting it on pumps is free money.
>Surely this wick is different!
Short it. Take huge profits. Wait for it to pump again. Short it. Take profits. Etc etc.
>>
>>61120100
Funny how you said exactly same stuf few years ago when gold was at 1700. And at 2000. and at 3000. it's always "teh top for gold" for you.
>>
>>61120106
Yes it will, but you don't know when is the top.
But have fun if you want to test your luck. I don't have any will to test mine shorting it.

I've been looking for something to buy but everything is up massively over the past year. I did come across an ETF for Turkish stocks which is basically flat for the year.
What do anons think about buying some Turkish stocks?
>>
>>61120132
>Turkish economy anything
Bro that sounds like the most terrible strat ever uttered in /smg/
>>
>>61120132
Do you see Turkey going out of their perpetual recession?
>>
>>61120130
They print and it raises, like most assets. But looking at the charts, gold also goes sideways for long periods of time, after meltups. And you don't want to baghold for a decade or more.
I should have bought it few years ago.
>>
*ahhh*

...that first sip
>>
>>61120140
Yes, and there was a specific reason why it was sideways. These reasons does not exist now and there is no sight for them going back any time soon.
>>
>>61120132
>>61120138
The country as a whole looks promising though. The companies there aren't as good as the US for example, obviously, but the prices are extremely low, which makes me think they might outperform when shit hits the fan in the US (and we know it will).
>>
>>61119980
This is the correct answer
>>
>>61120106
show your previous succes with shorting the vix then huh fag.
It's a futures contract retard, it isn't just as simple as shorting and waiting for it to drop because your contracts can expire in the meantime
>>
>>61120150
The stock market does not map 1:1 onto a country's actual economy. It's wise to regard these two things as relatively separate things.
>>
>>61120150
I mean, even in shittiest economy there are companies that may perform better than real inflation but Turkey has a lot of problems on top of economical ones. Starting with ErDOGan.
>>
>>61119980
ok so buy the momentum and sell before close everday from here on out?

Prices of stocks are low for a reason sometimes. Not an overreaction but an exit from failed political and economic action. If the US has issues Turkey wont out perform but completely collapse.

>>61120171
Not to mention the level of corruption
>>
>>61120132

Turkey's economy is growing well but it's all undermined by Erdogan's genuinely fucktarded monetary policy making their currency worthless. Their stocks are flat because the devaluation of their currency has basically kept purchasing power flat in spite of good economic growth. I'd only even consider buying Turkish stocks once Erdogan fucked off.

>>61120183
That's the thing though. Politicians come and go, but if the underlying economic structure is good, then stocks will do well in the long term. Right now, people don't consider Turkish stocks because they either don't know countries other than the US, Western Europe, China and Japan have stock markets, or they're extremely negative on the country because of Erdogan's retardation. Once he's fucked off, Turkish stocks will probably no longer be the bargain they are now.

All I do for stock picks is look at the market cap and then think if it could reasonably go up. I think costco is way too small at 400m if walmart and amazon are many times that. companies like rocket lab will almost certainly grow if they stay in their place in the market (gotta DCA here tho since it’s so expensive).
I think apple has trillions to go, they don’t really have competition
I really think spacex is undervalued because of their constellation, that thing alone is worth trillions maybe

but realistically all I do i trade 0dte spy
>>
>>61120185
No, it's indeed not better. It's much much worse there.
>>
>>61120212
Yeah but that could be fucking YEARS from now. Unless you want to hold Turkish stock bags for years and swallow that opportunity cost, the only real play would be to wait until Erdogan's confirmed gone and buy as soon as the announcement's made.

Id go full balls depth on one of those emerging markets Indian funds like INQQ (the guy running it actually has some decent ideas, e.g. he's targetting all the western like e-commerce platforms in India and emerging markets, like their local versions of doordash - Zomato - etc). I just.... I just can't help but think the benchods are gonna let me down with some sort of hijinx or another.

He also discusses emerging markets in Latin America.

But if you're interested, asking whichever AI you prefer for a brief list of the holdings in the INQQ fund and what services they provide in India as an example.
