I realized the only reason we don't have universal health care in the US is to force people into the labor pool. When you think about it all it does is spread the costs among more people. The more people that participate the cheaper it will be. But my dad will have to keep working past retirement age because my mother is younger and won't be eligible for Medicare yet. I know many others in similar situations. Me and my friend both want to retire at 40 and live frugally but again, we can't because we need health care. Even if we never used it and have been paying this entire time. The threat of an obscure medical disease without health care will force us into the labor pool for an additional twenty years. Now that jobs no longer exist, the government should stop being fags and give us healthcare. They probably will when this standoff ends because the main driver to not do it in the past is not an economic concern anymore.
