>>
>>61474730
For Americans alone to buy up 100% of the global supply it would only cost them $180 per person. We could do that in a single payday literally overnight. Pricing out retail is going to have to snap some necks. And the people with their neck sticking out are the large banks. The place we supposedly store all of our purchasing power....
Yea,... Maybe I will keep buying at these prices. Even if its just a few ounces. These bullion banks are also the prime brokers for all of the stock brokers out there. How many billions (trillions?) of losses are piling up? How can the banks save themselves if not a massive metal revaluation? Or they just renege on everything via a bankruptcy?
GME short squeeze is heating up too. We all know what the market mechanics should do theoretically. But is it possible for a bankrupt entity to make good on a massive wealth transfer? The system appears to be wholesale bankrupt?

My friends used to think I was insane at all of the cost cutting efforts I went to to stop spending money so I could buy more silver. To think something like a Chipotle Burrito was half an ounce of silver at one point ($20) really puts it into perspective. By consuming our purchasing power in the moment so frivolously, we start to see those purchases in a new light as the process begins to price us all out of money metals forever. This is going to look a lot like a drawbridge rising up and you have to scramble up the side desperate to make it across. At this rate we could all be cut off quite abruptly. How much long do you think until we start to see some millionaires start to FOMO?
Make no mistake, even if we cool down to $55 or whatever to consolidate, a fundamental change seems to be taking place.
>>
>>61474779
Gold is more monetary, but silver has more practical purposes than just that or just a gem (solar, ev, etc.) and there has been a deficit in the last 6 or 7 years in the mining of it. Increased demand outrunning its supply is what we're seeing.

Of course you can find further expanded details on this, but this is the quick elevator explanation.

Take a look t this. Look at the size of western assets under management by funds etc. now look at the size of the silver and gold and gold/silver equities markets. Gold is a measly 5%. But silver is nothing. Just fraction of 1% of that money moving into silver would set off a bomb in the price. It’s a thin market. Even gold is compared to where all the money is invested. FOR NOW.

Summary Table
———————
Asset Class Estimated Value % of Western Institutional AUM (ywvhw~$345T)

Western Institutional AUM $345 trillion 100%

Gold Market (Total Stock) $15.8 trillion 4.58%

Silver Market (Investable) ~$60 billion 0.017%

Precious Metals (Combined) ~$15.86 trillion ~4.6%

Gold & Silver Miners (Equities) ~$1.3 trillion ~0.38%

Probably more toward the Russian Chinese model. Gold is for international settlement. And they are encouraging it from the bottom down too for citizens with gold accounts and accepting it as collateral for loans etc. also you can earn interest in gold on your gold in China if deposited. So currencies still float. But it’s not rehypothicated 500 times. No PMs required for coins etc but convertible seamlessly.

The dollar system works best for the bankers when the restrict real-money because they want to replace it with interest bearing debt/currency. So the dollar-system is hands down their #1 priority because they makes them boatloads of money.
Gold and silver have a long standing historical ratio of 15:1 and a current mining ratio of $8:1.
In service of fostering the dollar-debt system, they have to play games to control the price of metals. Open and fair markets in money-metals would reveal the monetary malfeasance. But in the process of tamping down silver they have under developed production and it is being OVERUTILIZED industrially due to being so cheap.
As the banks pursue inflationary monetary policy, real-world shortages are manifesting themselves. Silver has to revalue higher and along with it gold. The scariest part of silver is the collapse of the GSR. It was 100:1 earlier this year and some suspect it could collapse to 10:1 or possibly 1:1 or may even invert.
The shift in purchasing power will come at the expense of gold and the bankers. This will also damage industry wanting and needing to sell cheap goods (taxes, jobs etc all need to burn red hot to keep up with the interest/debts/money system).
Shit is going to stall out and it could take years or a decade to sort out. The shortage in silver is not going to rectified easily. All commodities are going to have to reprice as well. But who has the ability to pay more for labor? What happens to the bankrupt government and bond market? The bond market is $46TN (2x GDPs worth) of debt that people think they can collect on. Silver repricing will actualize the real-world-unavoidable-economic-losses. There will be haves and have "notes" (kek)

>>

>But who has the ability to pay more for labor?
To expand on this, the capitalist system has been fueled by credit expansion and endless consumption. We are going to find that without a robust manufacturing base, what we have really been doing for the last 30 years is recklessly consuming over 100% of our GDP. We have zero savings as our financial institutions are all overleveraged to bogus collateral. Treasuries whose debtor is bankrupt. An economy that will implode without trillions of deficit spending. Trillions of dollars of mortgages that will all collapse without bank-credit. You just go down the line and peel the layers back one by one and you will find it all goes back to Treasuries and the bond market being the last vestige of the ponzi scheme. We ate it all. It's that simple. When you give money to your pension or an insurance company or SocSec the government takes it and gives it to isreal. Probably 99% of people have zero savings. And their homes need to be revalued as a depreciating hole in the ground with some sticks and drywall.
All of those nominal gains will erode when the great-deleveraging event happens. You can't just add on another $20TN debt and then do it again and again. The people are broke and the government is broke TODAY.

These retarded cucks are blowing 10s of thousands a year on frivolous shit like nails and hair for wifey and eating out and car loans and presents etc meanwhile they have literally zero financial security. I have a brother in law who refused to listen to reason. Got a tech job that goes for 70 hour work weeks. Didn't want to move in with me. Didn't want to save money with his wife in an apartment. Jumped the gun at ATH and mortgaged a home and started saying he is a homeowner right away. I had the silver talk with him regardless of all this, against my better judgement. Guess where he put his money instead? Crypto and tech stocks. Guess how much money he lost? He also lost his job. It's going to get real ugly real fast. As much as I like seeing the true price peck holes through the egg of price discovery, it's scary to see our governments panic and people we know lose all their shit. Thank God I moved out of the city that's all I'll say.

Besides the potential 10x upside (medium?term..6m-2y) once the paper breaks, you dont really have to care, set and forget, it will go up AT least with inflation, and it is outside the 'debt' system so its immune to bank problems, bubbles etc.
The fundamentals of countries and central banks loading up and whole of east basically, 5 years deficit 350?:1 paper bla bla bla, all valid.

Very little, anon. Plating is done through a process called electrolytic plating. The silverware is placed in a vat of fluid along with silver, and current is run through the vat. It causes atoms of silver to be deposited onto the surface of the silverware... but only enough to build up a very, very thin layer.
Really, the only valuable silverware, or tableware in general, is when it's made entirely of silver.

judging by the responses, i dont think there is any convincing argument for stacking. honestly, it seems like a hobby for poor people who are wanting to feel like theyre wealthy. the value of gold in usd could fall just as sharply as it went up. speculators like >>61475281 will be wishing theyd sold high, but most stackers in /pmg/ will keep telling themselves theyre stacking for some higher purpose, because theyre not wealthy people and whether their 10k usd stack goes up to 20k or whether it goes down to 5k usd doesnt really matter. stackers just seem poor to me.

>>
>>61475528
>it seems like a hobby for poor people
poor people don't trust a judicial and financial system that's stacked against them and they don't have access to.

stacking allows them to squirrel away some of the fruits of their labors where the law can't easily take it and wealthier people can't easily sue them for it. Also makes it pretty hard for the tax man to come after.

this isn't a new concept, poor people have always done this sort of thing. They might build up other fantasies about how society is controlled by some coordinated group that wants to destroy them. But the simple truth is that they're right, society is definitely set up to make them fail, and if they want to get by they probably need to bend, break, or avoid the rules. This strategy is very similar to the initial ideas of crypto. Not to get rich, but to have something that can't easily be taken away by the overwhelming forces lined up to keep poor people poor and in debt or labor or prison.

>>
>>61475528
>>61475672
on top of the fear of the system, you naturally get resentment. How can a poor person love a system that apparently holds them down and keeps them from participating?

Resentment spawns revenge fantasies. Maybe all the rich and powerful people will be taken down by their own hubris and the poor person will suddenly find themselves in a position of wealth and power? Wouldn't that be ironic while still showing that the universe is just and the poor person had great worth all along?

these revenge fantasies are unlikely to come true, because society IS stacked in favor of wealthy people and always will be as long as people agree to allow it in hopes of one day becoming rich themselves. There's almost no situation where rich people suddenly trade places with poor people. But that's a different story. When gold and silver are going up, stackers are going to see this as evidence that rich people are about to suffer a great fall while they, the stackers, are suddenly elevated. Ignoring the fact that rich people undoubtedly own more gold and silver than stackers do.

That's because Silver has actual, logical, real world reasons for why the price will rise, industrial demand, underdevelopment of mining operations, long term price suppression causing a loss of national reserves to eastern nations.

Bitcoin is "Buy it from me for more than I paid for it, then try to sell it to someone else for more than you paid for it." ad infinitum, you could replace it with literally anything, beads or painted leaves if you must, and it is functionally the exact same 'investment'.

My mom had an uncle that would give her a few Morgans every time he visited, so my grandmother would take them and store them away. I didnt know this until I started stacking myself so I was surprised.
Still, my grandma bought some dumb stuff like painted Eagles and slabbed shit, bit Im still glad she did it.

Interesting to ponder how even 1 single ounce of metal of gold, palladium and platinum can have single day moves that are the price of silver. Gold moving making gains on silver with a widening GSR is going to be peanuts compared to the much cheap silver finally making tangible inroads against gold with a tightening GSR.

as a now wise old man (age 27), don't waste your time
women seek a man like their father
they will try to turn you into their father
when that fails, they will revolt and the modern gay pimp state won't let you smack the stupid out of them
those women will expect and treat you like their mothers treat their cucked, defeated fathers
>t. wasted 10+ years and a lot of money figuring that one out on my own
>eternally grateful we did not end up with a child that she would inevitably abuse
>>
>>61475929
>from what i can see, stacking just means theyre opting out of the system
Yes
They're opting out of a system that won't reward them. It can only punish poor people

Even if you choose to opt in, you will eventually grow old or sick and lose everything and you might understand then why people don't support the system
>>
>>61476444
sorry but this just sounds like cope. silvers only value is in fiat, and its not a 'hedge against inflation' because the price of silver goes up and down just like stocks do. again im not against the idea of stacking but i just havent heard a compelling case for it yet, mostly just abuse which suggests its a fools errand.
>>
>>61475929
See, if you have a felony, or an addiction, or a disability, or mental illness, or a debt, or an ex wife and child support payments, you are realistically never going to make it in this system

At that point you start looking for alternatives. Because you have to.
>>
>>61476477
So don't stack. What's the problem?

You got some mental issue where you can't stand people thinking differently from you?
>>
>>61476477
Why do you need strangers on the internet to justify their financial choices to you? Why do you think your opinion matters to anyone else?

>>
>>61476557
So not only are you deeply insecure about your own finances, you're a terrible judge of others.

>>
>>61476557

>>
>>61476569
I'd say at least an ounce of gold a week if you can, an ounce of silver a week if you can't. of course, you should still have your other finances in order first, no sense in stacking if you have to sell your stack at a loss to make a bill or two, and have a little fiat wiggle room to help you in the short term.

>silvers only value is in fiat

Silver's industrial uses are vast due to its conductivity, reflectivity, and antibacterial properties, primarily in electronics (circuit boards, switches), solar energy (PV cells), automotive (contacts, catalysts), and medical fields (dressings, devices), plus as a catalyst for chemicals like ethylene oxide and in traditional areas like photography, mirrors, and alloys for soldering. Demand is growing, driven by green tech and electronics, making it crucial for modern technology.

Key Industrial Applications:
>Electronics: Switches, connectors, circuit boards, fuses, and conductive pastes in devices from smartphones to TVs.
>Solar Energy: Essential for photovoltaic cells in solar panels, improving efficiency.
>Automotive: Used in electrical contacts, sensors, and as a catalyst in catalytic converters, notes GoldRepublic.com and U.S. >Money Reserve, as well as in antifreeze production.
>Medical: Antibacterial properties used in wound dressings, catheters, surgical tools, and implants.
>Chemicals: Acts as a catalyst to produce ethylene oxide (for plastics, polyester, antifreeze) and formaldehyde (resins, adhesives).
>Water Purification: Used in water filtration systems due to its antimicrobial effects, say Tavex Bullion and gold avenue.
>Photography & Imaging: Silver halides are vital for traditional film, X-rays, and radiographic films.
>Mirrors & Coatings: Best reflector of visible light, used in mirrors, high-performance optics, and window coatings.
>Soldering & Brazing: Mixed with other metals (like copper) to create strong, durable alloys for electrical and mechanical connections.

Ask your parents what it was like when silver and gold were money. It was all of 50 years ago
>>
>>61476682
>i know about economics
Then why do you care about what some shill on youtube says? If you understand economics, the history of money, modern monetary policy, the fiscal situation then you don't need the opinions of youtubers. So there exists a market for retail investment in precious metals. That doesn't disqualify the thesis behind holding precious metals.

>>
>>61476696
they instantly sell that btc for fiat. no company holds btc because of how volatile it is.

>>61476806
I don't think that amounted to much. It went up and down anyway.
>>
>>61476766
>the thesis behind holding precious metals
ive yet to hear anything resembling a justification for holding them another than 'im waiting for the price to go up so i can sell and make a profit'
>>
>>61476819
you're thinking in nominal profits rather than inflation-adjusted.

Gold and silver keep up with inflation and sometimes outpace it.

but I've already explained the actual reason. If a person finds themselves in trouble with the law or their neighbors, gold and silver are the only assets they'd be able to walk away with because they're extremely difficult to take.
>>
>>61476825

>>61476834
If you lived in the US you'd know everyone breaks laws, usually without even knowing it. You could be a fugitive in minutes. This includes rich people, who know better than anyone all the different ways people, corporations, and governments can take their money.
>>
>>61476834
and honestly if you've never been sued by anyone I know for a fact you're not rich.

if you've never gone bankrupt I know you're not rich.

if you've never had a lien against your property I know you're not rich.

>>

I collect rare coins and I enjoy refining and casting gold and silver. Also I work in metals mining. All topics that get discussed here.

the real question is what are you doing in /pmg/?
you know it's not going to make you rich.
>>
>>61476819
In a world where dollars are printed out of thin air by the trillions. Where the US government's interest payments exceeds tax receipts. Where the entire economy has been turned into a ponzi scheme to pump the stock bubble. Where trust in government is declining worldwide. It makes sense to me to take some cash off the table and put it into hard money in my hand.
>>
>>61476908
maybe if i buy some silver itll 2-3x within a year like a lot of people are saying so yes i could make some money. i simply came here to ask why people stack. apart from the few speculators (who didnt explicitly admit it), the rest just get super defensive about the question or come up with weird unrealistic scenarios for why they think stacking is a good idea. if youre not speculating then i still think stacking is a waste of time. would be happy to be proven otherwise but nobody has yet presented a good reason for doing it.
>>
>>61476932
If you're speculating now might be a terrible time to buy since it usually goes way up in december than then adjusts down in january. But I don't have a crystal ball so I don't know.

all I know is I bought silver in the 1980's and then waited 32 years for it to go high enough to break even. And then people that bought when I sold had to wait another 14 years to break even. So historically it's not great to speculate on silver when it's mooning. You should've bought a long time ago.
