>>61492436>Why are people still buying at these prices and driving the prices even higher? Its not "people", its institutions. What are some of the reasons they buy?First, most industrial consumers are price insensitive. Silver makes up 0.001% of their product's cost, so they dont care if it doubles so long as they get their metal. The recent delivery delays cause them to load up without regard for price in order to prevent production bottlenecks.Second, professional traders are sharks that attack when there is blood in the water. If they sense there might be a shortage they will do everything in their power to make it worse and profit from it.

Gold is looking strong now too and silver is up above $64 again at the same time. I heard a lot of talk about COMEX requiring higher margin so it is expected that longs may get shaken out here. >>61493157The nice thing about platinum group is that they aren't as tightly correlated to one another as is gold and silver. If you notice, things like Pd and Rd have had runaway price action where Rd has been as low as $600 and as high as $32,000 (roughly). Pd went from $250 in 2009 to $3000 just a few years ago. Platinum is believed to be one of the second most controlled metal price after silver. I think an interesting trade idea might be to watch something like Platinum to have its runaway price moment and that could be a good opportunity to sell some to buy silver IF silver and gold appear to be relatively controlled. The quantity of Pt is very thin and most of it comes from Russia and S Africa. So I do think it is a very exciting metal to have exposure to. just a thought though because I do think silver will be the last metal to truly ever "break free" and go adventuring so there could be a great trading opportunity at some point.

>>61493736Nope. Executive Order 6102 (in 1933) placed an upper limit of 5oz of gold per individual, and you could just "give" your gold to your wife and kids or other family members to skirt around that limit, it also didn't apply to jewelry or artwork. People had to voluntarily sell their gold back to the government at a fixed rate but 90% of the gold coins were never sold back to the government, that's why you can still buy pre-33 gold to this day.
>>61493642This is the real-world result of what is means to have no savings and attempt to replace real-world scarcity and savings with debt fueled consumption. This is how it materializes. It is no longer enough to simply have dollary-doos. Even trillions of them. The fact is silver is simply going to disappear because it is mispriced. Repricing it will damage the global monetary system. There is now an asymmetric dislocation in what your money can actually buy. Dollars are no longer wild-cards. Money-metals and value dense and scarce materials will be vacuumed up and hoarded at a time when the banks have to flood the globe with trillions upon trillions of dollars. The economy is at its breaking point and the markets are calling the bluff. Even $60 silver seems negligible. It would be better to bury your silver 6 feet underground and cover it with concrete along with a map for your family to recover it than to give it to industry. The banking system is flat out broke and the government can give you nothing but a tax bill. They'll come after with with vinegar at first to shake out the pussies and then years later you'll walk into the front door of a bank with a red carpet rolled out as they attempt to recapitalize themselves.

>>61493726It’s probably not going to be as hard as you think. Think about it. Forcing an entire population to wear masks is one thing. Going down a short list of people who have metals and seizing it is another. The amount of people who hold PMs can’t be that much, relatively speaking.
My gambling addiction and love for coins…
>>61493797It should also be noted that the only legal justification for the order was because at the time we were still on the gold standard, so banks need to have gold to print more money, we don't have that anymore so there's no real reason to confiscate since we're on a fiat standard.
>>61493815The closest gambling mechanic I do with silver is random 1toz coins. I know I'll get the weight I ordered at least.
>>61493809>The amount of people who hold PMs can’t be that much, relatively speaking. The reason you don't know how many people have it is because there is no list.
>>61493809I always think it's funny how some people (especially younger ones) think of the government as some hyper efficient entity that can do anything and has a list of people with anal purple anal warts but just decides not to act on it.When in reality they are barely holding the ship together and just not having a current address makes you immune to most government procedures.
Also, ignoring the fact that this isn't logistically feasible, the government would seize the assets of the COMEX and nationalize all mines on US territory before they would go door to door.

To anyone still on the fence whether or not they should start stacking, do it. Sure, you missed out on the days when it was $35 (like me), but the supply deficit isn't gonna be solved any time soon and the future demands silver to power all this tech.Made a spot calculator to help visualize that even "small gains" can really add up. Only a week ago, it was $58.31, today it managed to touch $63.57. Roughly $105 more you need to cough up for 20 toz.https://www.desmos.com/calculator/wdktlxfoioOriginally made this to see if it was worth waiting the 2 weeks for payday, in order to spend enough at once and avoid sales tax. Judging from silver's gains in the past year, might be better for me to buy now.

Been using Monument Metals lately, since they have the best deals for constitutionals. >>61495285I was saying to my better half that I don't mind crabbing, especially if it goes up a little bit every week. The volatility fucks with our minds. It's really a powerful tool to discourage retail investors. You're playing it smart and loading up on the dips. There will come a time when the dips don't matter because the retail premiums are getting too high.I can see that as a major issue for stackers in 2026. If there's a squeeze on the industrial physical side, the retail stacker will get screwed. I don't recommend going into debt in order to stack, but I highly recommend that anyone who wants to build their stack to do so asap.
>>61495290He's not wrong. When you have a paper derivatives market 400 times larger than the physical, with bullion banks deliberately playing games to increase volatility, the price isn't set by physical demand. The industrial buyers are like corks floating on the ocean waves, just going along for the ride.
>>61495234HOLY SHIT!
>>61495334Even paper conteacts are bought and sold on the principle that the demand for will rise or fall. Yes, manipulation exists and expands the more demand rises and supply drops. >>61495347>Speculation by defibition is not price manipulation. Those are separate entities.Correct, but when bullion banks dump millions of ounces during low volume trading hours, that is not speculation. That is market manipulation, if you are willing to stipulate that speculators are legitimate investors whose goal is to earn money, which by definition doesn't include dumping huge quantities of silver at a loss to drive the price down. There are over a billion oz in shorts outstanding, with billions in losses when they eventually close or cash settle them.I believe that the Federal Reserve is ultimately backstopping these enormous losses by the bullion bank shorts.

>>61495480Fair enough. It's all to easy to lump speculators in with the rootless cosmopolitans, because there is some overlap. A rootless cosmopolitan used underhanded, often privilged access to unethically game the system for their own benefit. Technically they are speculators making money, but they are abusing the rules, and using loopholes to take advantage of other investors. This is the behavior that turns a high trust society into a low trust society. Not unlike Jeet international students taking advantage of food banks in Canada. It's technically not illegal, but it's immoral and unethical and hurts innocent people.https://youtu.be/BISFOw5TfUw In previous years, the bullion banks would dump millions of oz using spoof trades. For anyone in the thread who doesn't already know, a spoof is an offer to sell that gets cancelled before anyone can bid. This manipulates the trading algorithm, causing the price to drop. By repeately offering, and then withdrawing the offer before any bids are made, the bullion banks could ratchet the price down at virtually zero cost.If they did it on overnight trading, these spoofs could lower the price enough to begin triggering automated stop losses. Since it's happening at night, most of the investors woke up to find their positions liquidated at a loss, but in the meantime, the bullion banks bought up at the bottom, covering their shorts and making a proft at the expense of the longs who were stopped out.I remember years ago when after London closed, but just before NY opened, someone dumped 5 million oz which triggered a huge price drop for 5 minutes. A large number of retail investors got stopped out and a bullion bank made a tidy profit for five minutes work. This could technically be called speculation, but it's really market manipulation for proft.Today they manipulate the market to try and put the brakes on silver price rises for as long as they are able to, to protect the dollar.
