the harsh reality is that 99% of everybody economically doesn't matter, the market is its own self-contained creature in a bubble. if the entire world became substance farming tomorrow and consumer spending dropped to 0, the line would still go up, because businessmen could always mental gymnastics a way to explain how this is extremely bullish to their shareholders.

Not your responsibility or your calling to make others happy, but I get what you mean. It's nice to be able to be a source of nice things to others.
Perhaps, then, it would be better to focus on making yourself a source of good things, before you concern yourself with who those good things go to.
Make sure there's money in the bank before you plan on how to spend it.

I think the video game industry is in a LOT of fucking trouble right now and will get worse.

I had a bunch of friends and family tell me that they originally wanted to get a Switch 2 for Christmas, but not only did they refuse because saw it was too expensive, but when they went to stores like Walmart, Target, Best Buy etc. to browse out of curiosity, there were still like 10-25+ Switch 2 consoles just sitting there on the shelves. That was only ONE WEEK before Christmas Day.

Not even Nintendo can get people to buy games and consoles right now. Gaming markets are in bearish territory.

The handwriting was on the wall about a decade ago when mobile gaming—free games everyone has in their pockets—surpassed consoles in revenue. Everything has moved onto the phone, including TV. The biggest streaming company will be YouTube when all is said and done. There is no future for console style video games and, long-term.

Mobile Gaming revenue comes from a massive circle jerk of selling ads for other "free games" and then presenting that ad revenue to the bank as proof of income. One of the big reasons SVB had to be bailed out, and one of the big problems with all the AI/chip companies doing pretty much the same thing right now.

The glut in switch 2 manufacturing will be seen as a good thing if it means they can wait out the increase in semiconductor pricing from the AI boom.
HOWEVER I just don't see any pent up demand from any of the nutendo games. Is anyone really dying to play some bing bing wahoo. Fortnite is free, Roblox is free. You can play them on the iPad that they've been playing with since they were 3 years old.
And if they really want to game, all the streamers play on PC anyway which is where they'll end up.
>>61567664

Consoles were always just meant to be arcade at home. The games were originally similar too, such as side scrollers. There was a brief period when consoles did well when your typical retard who couldn't put together a PC had money but didn't have a smartphone because they weren't around yet. Now consoles are in the same market as phones and PCs, and novelty arcades are still around too.

Well there was a time when console/pc games were genuinely cutting edge. You compare them to the arcade but they were in fact a cut above the arcade. In any caves let’s compare home games to home games. Let’s go back in time to 2000-2005. What is a “free game,” that is competing with consoles and the like? It’s something like RuneScape, or in browser flash games on Miniclip and ArmorGames sort of thing. You got what you paid for, they were free because they were cutesy little 2d side scrollers made by someone in his bedroom. Can you compare Bush Shootout to Halo 2? Not really. Well let’s fast forward to today. Look at the options of games that are free to download and play. They’re fantastic quality, not really discernible at a glance from a game that costs 100 to buy. You brought up arcades? Mobile has/will continue to do to consoles what consoles did to arcades: Kill them

TLDR: consoles/pc used to be cutting edge tech, well worth the money to play the best games. Now it is no longer cutting edge, no longer worth the money and no longer obviously the best gaming experience

Yeah vidya is fucked in general. Doesn't help that globohomo got wind of the fact that it's a bigger media industry than movies, and now they poison every game with their stupid fucking writing and DEI hires. Then they're doubly fucked from AI sucking down all of the quality chips and massively driving up price for consumers to buy consoles and PC parts. Pretty much the only players I don't see hurting are ones like Valve and some eastern conglomerates. I don't think vidya is going to get any less popular, in fact it will probably get more popular, but people will 100% spend less on the hobby and will be more averse to newer games and consoles, especially western studios.
>>
>>61567889
Why?
My question was what are some good stocks unrelated to the metal bubble
>>
>>61567894
Big if true.
Big devs in west are screwed. passionate non ideology driven indie devs can make really good games, especially with AI.

The way they over monetize games makes them feel like a long ass gambling ad.

Video games is hanging on a thread, at least the AAA industry. Development time has gone up so much which bloats the budget to shit causing even million sales to not break even.
Add to that, that devs seemingly don't care about optimization either because no time or no talent, and they've just hoped to push the problem onto the customer in the manner of having them buy better hardware. Now with the RAM issues and GPU issues that shit isn't going to work anymore.
If GTA6 doesn't smash records across the board then the industry might very well go into a major recession. Which it honestly needs but still.
