I just wanted to tell you that crude oil tankers are going absolutely nuts.

Stocks have already sort of priced this in. If I was invested I would be taking profits here but not sell out completely. Maybe 50%.

To make good money you would have had to listen when I was yapping about them in June-July.

My personal prediction is that the next hottest segment in shipping is going to be shipbuilders.
But it's hard to recommend stocks that have already gained +100% in a year or +500% in 5 years.

There is one that stands out though. I am thinking about it.

should I de-risk? 80% of my money is in the s&p. 10% in cash and the rest in nvda/tsmc and silver. even I sell half of my s&p position what the fuck am I going to do with the money? 2/3 of the world market is the fucking s&p anyway.
>>
>>61701496
What is your time frame?
If you are retiring in the next 5 years, sure. Think about it.
If your timeframe is more than 10 years, there is nothing to think about. It's risky to hold anything but equities with a long enough time frame.

American shipbuilders. Lots of experts screaming about how we need to catch up to the size of China's naval fleet and bitchin about how SK is dominating the game rn
>>
>>61701507
time frame? basically 10-20 years? my concern atm is mostly the dollar devaluing since I am not an us investor. I was thinking of selling half of my s&p position and buying it back as an eur/usd hedged position. should have probably done that from to get go. dunno I am kinda dumb when it comes to finance and I should probably just keep everything as is and stop looking at my portfolio.
>>
>>61701520
Korean shipbuilders are investing in US shipyards to get some of those fat navy contracts, there is zero chance of commercial shipbuilding coming back to America (or Europe).

Shipbuilding requires an established heavy industry to produce everything from huge quantities of steel plates to massive crankshafts and main engines, the ability to do that rapidly, and bending over backwards to potential buyers including state-backed refund guarantees. All of that takes decades to set up and requires taxpayer subsidies before it becomes viable.
No one else can beat China at this game.

What would /smg/ recommend to do with this portfolio? I'm 28 and don't plan to buy property anytime soon. Obviously I have way too much cash, it was a recent settlement from an industrial accident. I will likely just buy more of a global index fund. Stocks seem overvalued and I'm wary of buying PMs after the run they've just had. Then again I can hardly keep this much in a savings account. The chainlink is a lost cause, selling in the new tax year.

I'm european too and you're totally right but do you really think in the next 10-20 years there won't be any substantial increase in productivity thanks to at least a couple of those 600 companies embracing ai or any new tech?

Republicans in Congress also understand that he's the only reason they have any power and support from his voter base right now (see what happened to MTG as soon as she turned on him). This is why even the ones who rebuked him in 2021 stand with him today (also, they are generally just the better of the two parties at falling in line for the sake of party unity). The Senate will never vote to convict until they decide it'll be beneficial for them personally to cast him aside for Vance.
>>61702076
Canada is already divesting from US interests right now. That's why Trump is mad.
>They'll find out in a few decades they made a deal with the devil
Yes, it'll ultimately be bad for them too. The end goal is the destruction of Western hegemony. It's not just us (see the controlled political instability in Europe this past decade+ that has nothing to do with us), but we stand out the most because we've historically been seen as more reliable and stable post-WW2. I'll give you two seconds to figure out who benefits the most from all this.
>>
>>61702137
MTG didn’t need trump to get re-elected, she resigned because she was being bombarded by death threats
>>
>>61702076
Isn't the whole idea behind Trump's tariffs that he wants to take manufacturing back from other countries to the US? Why is it good when the US does this but bad when China does it? Americans have become too indoctrinated into the "US good guys, China bad guys" rhetoric that you fail to realize that for the rest of the world, the decision is about weighing the benefits from the downsides.
>>
>>61702152
It's funny when people think that having a large amount of manufacturing jobs without any social safety nets is a good thing. The Midwest is about to look a lot more like the apple factories with suicide nets in China than it is the airbus factories in France if the orange retard keeps devaluing the dollar

i'm actually kinda worried about the FOMC rate decision in 4 days. The dollar got absolutely destroyed (like 2% since the beginning of last week) and if there is a rate cut based on trump pressuring mr jerome i think it's going to be the first step to sending the dollar to banana republic currency status.

Minor bros, what's our exit strategy?

What telltale signs should we look out for that demand for metals is about to wane?
Its mostly the data center and energy infrastructure spam that's driving up demand for base metals (and silver), but do you think there will be enough of a time gap to react to between a decrease in spending on these sectors and a decrease in the value of metals?

Retail wagie, I'm seriously going to get into trades and already applied for the nearby union backed electrician school. Even going to take the free classes to get a cert offered at my retail chain and save up cash I made from investing stocks in my(soon to be ex) company before I quit.

Why? Its all been going down to the dogs here man. I knew a coworker that worked his ass off for 5 years, even more than a hard worker like me. Did everything from forklifts, cutting wood, pro service desk etc. One time he had to do a whole 'reset' on FIVE fucking aisles in plumbing for almost a month. What did he get? Nothing, no promotion, raise, not even a staff badge. But when he turned his 2 weeks in, my fuckass manager got mad at him and refused to pay him the unused vacation time(which by law he has to, its illegal), so he dipped only 1 day later. I'm so done working here at Lowe's anons.

whatever it is don't go into debt for it and given you're that far you're probably smart enough not to pay for electives or some shit; i can't believe grown men are doing that shit. vocational schools that high school kids go to usually offer courses; industrial controls, basic theory, PLCs, maybe electronics & components. learn how to read a print, may have some pictures if interested. the point is to get a job and the faster you can get in the better because you're not spending money or time trying to learn. admit you're green upfront, work for slave wages for no more than 6 months then negotiate. may take a couple tries and a couple different places/skillsets before you can REALLY start to negotiate. wherever you go chances are electrical will be only a part of what you're suppose to do on a daily basis. wrench on your car, expect to learn hydraulics/pneumatics and use heavy equipment, rigging. can't speak for trade unions only USW which i don't really consider to be one.

I would be careful. I believe the shipbuilding companies are to a large part (idk if majority) rising a lot because of exuberance about the current Worst Korean stock market in general, which is driven by factors that are not really that related to shipbuilding. I'm not saying shipbuilding is not also in an upswing. I don't actually know. I just say be careful.

>why is it pumping specifically now?
Basel III banking regulations. Gold was money and US had a quasi gold standard which Nixon 'temporarily' suspended. US printed an insane amount of fiat causing fiat devaluation across the planet, that and endless derivitives were causing huge problems in financial markets, and US is going into overdrive with fiat currency printing. The rest of the world see the US is going to implode and default and now gold is back as a Tier 1 asset and silver and platinum are going to be riding along with it. The price suppression is over and the shiny boomer rocks are going to rocket in value - relative to dying fiat currencies. The masses are getting wind of the hype and are spazzing out buying at all time highs and will drive the prices even higher.

>>
>>61704745
the point is the only place on the map of where waymo isnt being established is the NE, which makes sense given that they have decent transportation as is.

>Targeting Winter Conditions: Waymo is using these tests to train its "Waymo Driver" AI to handle challenging weather, including snow, ice, and slush, which are prevalent in New England.

>"Final Boss" Environment: Boston’s narrow, chaotic, non-grid, and, as one local expert noted, "cow path" streets, combined with aggressive driving culture, present a high-level challenge for AV technology.

>Buying gold and silver is relatively easy. Selling it, not so much.

>As a manager of a physical gold fund with access to the largest refineries in Switzerland, we were able to liquidate metal positions in a trusted network with very little friction.

>The same thing is not true for the vast, vast majority of gold and silver investors unless you are in an ETF or working with a large institution with good delivery refinery connections.

>Everyone else has to take a huge loss versus spot, if you can find someone to take it.
