I have a gold plated necklace (magnetic) and i took it out and wore it on my head like a crown for a few hours while playing on my computer. This gave me a massive headache which was quickly relieved by taking it off. I don't have solid gold to compare with, but common metals are probably picking up bad waves, that maybe precious metals are immune to?

Hi im a newfag so feel free to call me retard but I'm a first time buyer of metals. I just purchased about 10oz of silver and 10g of platinum last week. I do have some gold still like probably only an ounce from my boomer relatives.

But my questions are this:
Is APMEX good?
Where's the "best" place to buy (USA)?
What's the difference between coins, bars, and bullion?
Is there a preferred one?
How do we feel about platinum right now?

Thanks for the answers and time anons

I hear you and these are good points, but we aren't in hyperinflation. We are in very high inflation but will probably never be in a webinar/Zimbabwe situation. US is still the world's reserve currency and nothing is changing that soon, despite Chink shills

Also silver is renewable, in that we can get more of it. It's not really a finite resource.

So while agree with your exuberance I'm tempering my enthusiasm until I see it play out. There are still very obvious real world plays that send metals back down including US dealing with China or more mines coming online. There are many many mines that closed production due to spot cost. Those can be opened within months.

If silver goes up, I'm rich. If not, I'm buying more

I am sub 100 stacklet by pmg standards, but for them it would be significant amount of money regardless. It annoys me to no end but also I don't want them to miss an opportunity

What so many people seem to not understand, perhaps until one has gotten older is that once you have gotten some toy or gadget, particularly inanimate objects that serve no specific purpose, (unlike a coffee maker) ownership become ho hum. Contrast this with some kind of tool you need to use regularly where you feel good every time you need to use it.

At one point I really wanted a minted bar. At one point I really wanted a breadpan cast bar. I wanted a gold Maple. So what? I take more pleasure now out of the size of my stack than the "coolness" of any of the specific pieces.

The size of the stack has life changing implications. One particularly cool collectable piece that only has relevance to a tiny niche market of mostly autists/aspergers does not. I'm the school of thought that quantity has a quality all it's own.

I also have enough experience to know that this argument will have zero impact on young males who are fixated on an inanimate object that serves zero functional purpose, other than making them seem like a cool kid on 4chan.

If you're rich, or even comfortable, you can afford to spend a lot on whimsy, but many of the young guys here lusting over furry coins or apu silver don't even have a thousand ounces yet. Some of them may not even have a hundred ounces.

This is a form of natural selection at work.

>sorry i am only 1 alpha. what is a 6 sigma event?
To explain quickly: in finance, we measure price moves around an average using the standard deviation, which we call sigma.

1-sigma: mundane
2-sigma: common
3-sigma: becomes rare
4-sigma: exceptional
5-sigma: extremely rare
6-sigma: supposed to occur once in 500 million

Here are the 6-sigma-type episodes we saw previously:

– The october 1987 crash, 22% drop in 1 session
– March 2020 covid crash
– The swiss franc’s surge in january 2015
– WTI oil turning negative in april 2020

But we’ve never had 3 events occur in one week.

FYI, I’m the guy who originally called him out first for his scamming tactics. But I think he’ll make good only because there is actually more money to be made by not outright scamming. I don’t think he cares that much if his pre-sale “fails” and he only sells a few rounds. It actually BENEFITS him. Here is why: He puts on a scammy presale of a round everyone is dying to get. But only a few retards actually wire this jeet scammer money. So he ends up selling 50 rounds. A super low mintage! How rare! How collectible! He makes $50-100 profit per round for a total of a few thousand which is nice but the real money comes next. He secretly mints another 50, 100, or however many and one at a time lists them on eBay and you retards pay $600,700,1000 dollars because of how super duper rare they are and now there is no risk of a scam. Remember, these rounds are not numbered either because the mint conveniently couldn’t do it. So there is no way to tell if he minted extras and is selling them. The guy is going to make so much money off you faggots.

It's often not the country, but the mint. To avoid sales taxes or VAT, many mints will find a banana republic to license the product as coins. Ostensibly the country gets a commission.

>All those events were (((planned))) though.
Whether or not they were planned, they almost certainly are related. The Japanese bond market is one of the key pillars of the world economy.

If this was our only problem, it wouldn't be so bad, but:
-the USA is currently in a not-yet-hot civil war.
-Trump chose to surround himself with people who cater to his delusional narcissism.
-Trump is telegraphing an attack on Iran.
-The residential real estate market is crashing
-The commercial real estate market has crashed
-Europe just decided to completely suicide herself by signing an agreement to mass import Indians.
-America is so full of imported foreigners, both legal and illegal, that it effects elections at every level.
-Boomer politicians want to give amnesty (what Reagan did to California in the 80s) to all the illegals in the USA, effectively turning the USA into what happened in California.

Shit is ripe for a huge reset, and picrel.

What's worse is the "top experts" that were calling silver's top a few days ago as it swung a bit downwards. We live in a world where these hyenas assume prices move like shitcoins in equal proportions up and down because fundamentals haven't mattered till silver came along.
>>
Say 100 rounds, one per customer:

blank planchets are probably ~ $125/130 each, dies (that look good) are $2k+, capsules and mailers ~$140, and then actual shipping costs (flat rate priority small box $11)

minimum price of $160 per round, if you expect the guy to absorb all the extra cost (time and taxes) of the project.

$200 is actually completely reasonable.

Well most extremely wealthy people are just moving credit around. Jay-Z made a whole song about how to get rich and how holding wads of cash isn't real money to the very wealthy. It's all buying up tangible assets early and letting it gain value and having good credit.

On the surface, it seems fair, but the amoutn of corruption and favoritism makes it fall apart reall fast. As we can see after the instatment of the Fed, and then the removal of the gold standard.

Have you seen the prices for early American antique furniture? Like 18th century desks, tables, cabinets, etc? Have you seen the prices for English bone china?

Collectables have trends, and when the demographic for whom they were most valuable die off, lose most of their value.

Like I said, if you already have lots of resources, you can afford to induge in whimsy. A young guy who can barely afford rent who has a negative net worth spending most of what little he has on a niche collectable to win bragging points on an anonymous message board is natural selection at work.

Some of these medals will eventually be sold below spot

Do I buy 2 Double sovereigns, 4 normal sovereigns or 1 oz?

I've got £4k to spend and don't know which to go with. Gold wise I've only ever stacked sovereigns so have 30 of them as I could only afford ~£500 at a time.

2x double sovereign = £3990 for 0.94oz of gold worth £3656
4x normal sovereign = £4000 for 0.94oz of gold worth £3656
1oz = £4012 for 1oz of gold worth £3880

The 1oz seems better value, but having sovereigns seems better for my collection and maybe easier to sell?

A few days ago I was jokingly calling for $20 arbitrage, now it's $24 because of the morning's dump.

So when Shanghai opens, will they come down toward the US price, or will they go up and increase the spread even more?

The US tried to take control by dumping. Will China move up anyway, proving they are the ones in charge?

It's a fraction of what it used to sell for. The people who liked it and could afford it are dying off. The younger generations have little interest, and even less budget to buy and have the space to put it.

Sort of like grandma's china cabinet that has $20k worth of English bone china that none of the grandkids want.

Will the stuff eventually come back into fashion and become popular again? Probably.

Is it a good bet right now if you're not rich enough to afford the climate controlled space to keep it safe for years or decades? Not in my opinion.

>Why do you pay taxes
To reduce demand. If money has no constraints and is not tied up in other things then everything gets consumed immediately. The free money is for them. The tax cattle have to run uphill in the sand. By deli-slicing your purchasing power at every given opportunity with hidden taxes, fees, markups, insurance and mortgages etc we'd be like locusts and there would be nothing left. The moral quandary here is that the system by design has to impoverish you. We should ideally just be enjoying more free time with friends and family but they prefer we run on the hamster wheel. It's like someone who over eats and has to compensate by being a gymrat to not be a fatass. That's what the elite have built for "them". We can play along or be homeless. Have a job or no healthcare. Give your money to Wallstreet or no retirement. It's nothing but a series of ultimatums.

If you've watched enough of that PBS show, you would know that the prices quoted are "insured values" not sale values.

I'm talking about early American furniture that's going for less than 1/3 of what it SOLD for 25 years ago. It's a niche market that's literally growing smaller every day. There will aways be a very high end niche market for extremely exceptional pieces. Things like Fabergé eggs.

How many anons here have, or will have in the near future a house that has a spare climate controlled room they can afford to devote just to old collectable furniture that can't really be used?

How many millennials can afford that? How many GenX? We know the number of zoomers that can approaches zero.

From a game theory perspective, too many paper millionaires have climbed up to the "break-away" levels of ownership. Far too many people are trying to rent-seek when this is intended only for the elite. Many, many people need to be impoverished somehow and the physical ownership of metal is exactly how this will be accomplished.

I'm happy to hear that you've found it useful. As for Euro silver coins, I've contemplated adding them, but first I need to learn more about them - my main problem is that, if they're explicitely sold only as collector items, then it would be very hard to find them as junk, i.e. being sold only for the metal value.
>>
>>61741444
>Many, many people need to be impoverished somehow and the physical ownership of metal is exactly how this will be accomplished.
I think you either misspoke, or have it backwards. Physical ownership of real money is what will separate the paper/home rich who get rugpulled when Exter's pyramid collapses, from the stackers who will make it.

Only people with real money will be left standing.

Most people don't own metals and the tax-cattle have been investing in bank credit. The collapse will happen in bank credit and the physical capital assets will revalue higher.
Most people are comfortably living thinking their house will pay for their retirement (it's just a hole in the ground with some sticks and wires in it - historically people did not need 30 years to pay for one). People own portfolios of stocks and bonds whose underlying asset is a worth pennies on the dollar of assets or their customer/tax base is bankrupt.
Take any asset on the planet and peel it back like an onion and you'll most likely find Treasury bonds as the root of what is propping it up. Treasury bonds are not IOUs, they are UOUs. We were all fooled in to owning our own tax liabilities as an "asset" while the rich were partying and living large on OUR SAVINGS. They ate our lunch and gave us the bill.

Paper isn't even necessarily an evil in and of itself if the currency is stable and used to facilitate trade and the banks kept honest record keeping of $1 loan for $1 capital on hand. (not allowing leverage and questionable loans).
Colonial Scrip is a great example and the sole cause of the Revolutionary War (not "taxes" like we are taught. Tax cattle are meant to be financially illiterate on historical money matters).
Even something like the National Socialists who backed their currency with productive labor were perfectly able to operate a monetary system without it being backed by commodities.
These forms of money work when the monetary system is used to facilitate trade in quantities sufficient to promote trade.
The current monetary regime ruling since the 1600s have usurious and nefarious global ambitions and they don't care at all if they loot the nation blind. They are occupiers and that is their express intent to legally transfer wealth and property into their own hands.
