My 85% down HOOD calls might actually break even this week. Maybe buying 110 strikes expiring this week last month was not a good idea.
Pray me that HOOD rips to 95 on open then clears 115 on Wednesday open

Do you think MSFT is a dip or it's over? Part of AI bubble popping?
>>
>>61823744
MSFT, NFLX, AMZN, NVDA & META are all on sale right now. This market is going to rip over the coming months, we're in the last few shakeoffs of the accumulation phase.
>>
>>61823744
I think MSFT is a specific case, worst in all three dimensions:
1. They're over-invested in AI, and that bubble is, if not collapsing, at least deflating
2. The AI implementations they do have are terrible, so they can't separate themselves from the rest of the AI bubble
3. Their AI focus has fucked with the quality of their other products, and customers are pissed. Not just regular consumer users like you and me... actual corporate customers. I suspect, don't have any evidence, that their churn rate is climbing

personally I wouldnt buy right now, there is plenty of time to see if its turning back up
>>
>>61823761
I should have bought more. The market panic was contagious and I hesitated. But I shouldn’t have. We had two weeks of blowout tech earnings and then the announcement of a massive expansion of the AI buildout. I should have listened to my gut. When the market is irrational at least I can be rational. Lesson learned
>>
>>61823744
no MSFT is fucked. they bailed on their main product to do AI unlike the other tech companies.
>>
>>61823744
MSFT's AI gains are basically just OpenAI, which has been really falling behind lately. Unless OpenAI does something crazy and takes the lead again, MSFT will be limited compared to other AI players.

I don't think the bubble is popping, the winners are just emerging.

>>
>>61823524
>whites laughing while jews turn baseball into a nigger sport
>>
>>61823815
I honestly have no clue how the IPO will effect things. I guess lots of people will probably ape in for the short term, which will spike OpenAI's valuation and subsequently MSFT's?

There's lots of time before that though, so I don't think anticipation of that will be driving the line up for quite a while. I'd imagine it will be a slow buildup that will give us plenty of time to react.

I agree you should sell soon after that though.
>>
>>61823800
The best tech won't necessary win the race. Microsoft has everyone locked into Windows and Office, especially public sector, schools etc. are heavy into Office even on iPad. People will use the AI that's already available rather than the best one. But they don't need AI to sell Windows or Office, at least not yet. They've spent a fuckton of money on it though and I don't see it paying off unless people actually really want AI enough to pay more for Windows and Office. It may all go the way of the Xbox.

I agree, but ChatGPT is genuinely losing more and more market share to gemini, claude, and even grok.

I think most AI profit will come from API services, and claude is king in that domain. Normies will continue to use exclusively GPT as their chatbot and better-google, but I don't see how that will do anything but burn money.

That's the big issue yeah. Even when you offer three day weekends and four day work weeks, most people don't take them for fear of being seen as lazy. Which is the big reason we might actually see change. They can't, or at least haven't, forced the four day work week on the private sector but the public sector can lead by example. Tokyo already embraced it for municipal workers and that city employs a massive 450,000 people. Apparently a little under half have embraced it.

Three other cities have said they want to follow suit which would bring the total up to 650,000 workers. Which is actually about 5% of the work force.

Funny enough its the only modern country doing it. If they manage to transition the entire country to a four day work week over the next day they actually might become the first nation to solve its birth rate crisis without immigration

The babies will be ripped from the employees and taken into government facilities to learn to start manufacturing Mazda Miatas with their tiny dextrous fingers by the age of 6 years old. This will flood the subcompact sports car market with unbeatably cheap product and cause a new 1000 year Empire for the Japanese people.

The real policy fix is nuking Boomer (or the local version of it) home values by eviscerating homebuilding rules and zoning.
Every country on the planet where "home = asset" instead of "house = liability" has a population collapse crisis.

Japan has the dumbest work ethic on the planet there's your reason. It's mostly a great country compared to most first world countries but not a chance I'd live there if I had to be a wagecuck with 80 hour work weeks compared to the 60 hour work weeks in the US.
USA: 60 hours weekly, 12 hours daily, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
>prep/unprep for/from work 1.5 hours
>commute 1.5 hour
>work 8 hours
>lunch 1 hour
Japan: 80 hours weekly, 16 hours daily, 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM
>prep/unprep for/from work 1.5 hours
>commute 1 hour
>work 8 hours
>lunch 1 hour
>fake overtime 2 hours
>compulsory dinner with your boss 2.5 hours

No surprise they're not getting married and having children. Also they get below the normal amount of sleep hours. Doesn't help that their stock market is stagnant, how do you even make money unless you invest internationally? Can they even afford having a home or are they worse off then US anon's?

on top of that, if you take a look at the options bid-ask spread of leveraged etfs, most of the time there is a wide gap between bid and ask because they are a less liquid product than options on spy, for example. So you can get fucked by all the usual stuff of regular options + compounding volatility + paying extra when buying and selling for less when selling compared to the fair price of these options.

Europe is unironically the best place to be a wagecuck thanks to all the time off they get. Varies in the ~30-55 day range, would absolutely move there if I knew for a fact my fate was sealed to being a wagie until 62. At least then I'd have way more free time. And from the looks of it they do have access to US markets since we've got at least that one European anon who seems to trade them. However if you try to make it off stocks/any form of money making that isn't a regular job then US is better, idk how Japan is with taxing.

yeah, in eu you can trade us stonks, options, futures, cfds etc. i dont know how japan does taxes, but i assume taxes there are pretty high because they have a massive ball of old people who receive state founded pensions and somebody has to pay for them. they cant just emit debt infinitely to solve an structural problem that big without risking default.

>wagie gains taxed in different thresholds (until x amount of wagie money you get x%, any euro you make higher than that will be taxed at y% with y>x)
>the sequence starts at 20% and goes up to 50% (this tax cap depends on the region)
>capital gains get taxed from 19% and goes up to 28% with a similar structure (but you have to shit out 300k+ to reach this cap)
>36h-40h working weeks
>30 vacation days
>14 national holidays baseline, this number can be higher depending on the region
>there is a weird shit about declaring you are unable to work for medical reasons but i heard you can have like up to 2 years of "you cant fire this guy while incapacitated, he gets 70% of his salary"
>very generous unemployment compensation, if you work 4 years you are entitled to about 1 year of 70% of your previous salary but there is a cap to it
the downside is the wages are low compared to the cost of living itself. there is free healthcare and a public pension system that is completely unsustainable
>retirees can get up to 3x the median wage depending on how many years they have been working in spain, INFLATION ADJUSTED.
so you end up with situations where graduates get a 1k euro monthly salary with little hope of getting a raise anytime soon and a boomer is getting 3k from the very moment they retire. basically the economy of the country is killing itself by disproportionally favouring boomers and importing sandniggers from africa. and of course the government says everything is sunshine and rainbows

What's your opinion on date targeted index funds? Is this the place to ask? I'm just interested in increasing my 401k when we get a big bump in pay later this year. Right now my 401k is in LIPKX and basically doubled in value over 2 years. I was thinking of doubling my contributions, which would be employer matched, and putting it into LIVKX.

Would it be better to put that new half of contributions in some other index like FXAIX? Or should I just take the raise and invest it further into physical PMs instead of bothering with increased 401k contributions?

I'm not looking for someone to make a choice for me, but just looking for opinions.
>>
>>61825783
Depends on your tax situation on weather you should do this pre or post.
Target dated funds are retarded because they hold bonds. and bonds are essentially useless, and have been useless unless you are close to retirement. The other problem is management fees. Seems like the fees for LIVKX, arent too bad though.

I'm in the 2nd lowest tax bracket and file jointly. Looking around, a roth 401k would be decent and my employer offers it. I think I may just do that and invest it into the 2055 index fund. The extra employer match makes it better over just taking my pay and doing silver and gold alone.

you can usually buy PMG ETFs with some employer roths, depending on your plan manager. Roth would probably be great for you and you get the match. You can just straight but fxiax and you would be ok , fzrox is another good one with zero fees.

I am very skeptical that this approach will work. Combinatorial optimization is notoriously intractable, and you're also going to have problems with overfitting on a necessarily small dataset.

It's not a purely combinatorial optimization, it's constrained by the grammar and a templating system plus parsimony penalty - these are necessary to reduce the search space to semantically meaningful features. The page I posted was about the exploitation vs exploration tradeoffs to control the combinatorial search further. It searches the space for structure (mathematical expressions using market primitives), does param optimization on said structure, and iterates - performance considerations are all regime conditional as well.

Overfitting is mitigated with robust parameter selection (eg sensitivity testing), statistical gating (eg Fischer Z-stat) and typical IS/OOS WFV procedures. Containing it to a tractable subset while not reducing the semantic expressiveness is the essentially the crux of the exercise.

What's your background? I have a feeling that I'm being baited into replying to AI slop. You're trying to reinvent existing concepts in machine learning with this very elaborate approach. It's basically reimplenting a decision tree, but you're going to find out after doing a lot of development effort that decision tree learners come with a lot of problems.
>>
>>61826425
math/cs undergrad and a lot of self study over years, no formal training or industry experience beyond that (small biz owner masterrace). I'm not doing any ML at this stage though, or any non-linear stuff save for experimentally for ensembling features. It's an AST model of the expressions but how is it at all like a decision tree? it's all unsupervised.
>>
>>61826425
>this very elaborate approach
and it's not elaborate imo it's as simple as I could I make it for the hypothesis I'm trying to test. the expressions are just like a reverse polish lisp, common enough: https://arxiv.org/pdf/1601.00991, and GA is the only thing I know of that can search over a discrete, non-differential space like that to optimize structure. each structure then of course needs it's own param optimization, and so and so forth. the workflow sort of unfolds from there, there's no attempt to inject superfluous complications anywhere, aside from the overtly formal academic tone in the spec doc.

The company literally isn't making any money at this point, it has enormous debts, and they're literally betting everything on GTA 6, possibly the most profitable audiovisual product in history.
