>(Bloomberg) -- S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC is considering changes to rules governing how companies join the S&P 500 Index, a move that would potentially fast-track SpaceX’s entry after its IPO, people familiar with the matter said.
>The rule change could mean that billionaire Elon Musk’s space transportation and satellite company would see a wave of billions of dollars in forced buying. Funds that track the index must buy newly added stocks, and roughly $24 trillion is tied to the S&P 500, according to Bloomberg Intelligence

China is currently in a standoff with Australia over iron ore, and has halted purchases from BHP until the Aussies accept payment in RMB.

They really want to force this crap down people's throats.

All Chinese state entities are being forced to promote "cross-border RMB". That's a CCP term so it shows up everywhere. Even when it's two domestic companies doing business with each other.
It just means setting up a subsidiary in Hong Kong, sending money there, and then routing it back to the mainland. Cross border retardation.

I found this chart interesting, because we are still very, very early on the timeline.

Korea and Japan are still scheduled to receive Hormuz-loaded barrels until like early-mid April.
Even if Hormuz reopened today, deliveries would commence where the grey line starts.
Every day Hormuz does not reopen, the grey area is moved one step further to the right, creating a massive number of "missing barrels".

It's bad.

Look at the idiots in the white house.

Look at Russia in decline.

We are watching china take over from America as global superpower. It's been coming for a long time.
America lost the minute they offshored industry.
This is just the warm up to a full on America/china showdown.

99% of people know war just from what the media says and what Hollywood shows. Currently the situation is that America very clearly cannot stop Iran from disrupting the global oil market without boots on the ground.

But boots on the ground will be a massive political cluster fuck. More so than it already is. And to top it all off we're currently in the middle of a doctrine change like we saw in Ukraine. All our fancy carriers and missiles does jack shit to stop Iran from launching thousands of cheap ass drones

Well no, the prez has got himself into quite a pickle.

He can't actually use the destroyers as escorts because he knows via ukraine that it is absolutely possible for cheap autonomous boats/subs/etc to sink modern naval vessels.

Think of the result of that.

On the one hand he'd have the faces of the 256 sailors on every newspaper and website in America with all the 3/4 people who didn't support the war calling for impeachment.

On the other hand those who currently support the war would go absolutely ape.
They would call any sort of deal that ends this thing on a reasonable, no financially apocalyptic timeline treason and cowardly surrender.

And yet he needs those ships in play (solo) to actually move volume - and yet if he loses a single one its a short path to him ending up probably in jail at the hands of all the deep-staters/establishment he's wronged.

Quite the pickle, like I said.

Yes.
Americas military is prehistoric by modern standards.
Ukraine is sending sea drones that launch fpvs or AA missiles. They've shit down jets and helicopters, sunk flagships and flattened oil rigs without leaving home.
They've demolished the entire soviet stockpile of artillery, tanks and troop carriers.
From a desk.
They've crippled pipelines, docks, refineries, factories and headquarters, from their bedrooms.
They took out a chunk of the strategic bomber fleet with a ruse and crippled Kerch bridge with an arctic truck.
America isn't ready for modern war. Yet it just entered a doozy voluntarily.
Thankfully the sand niggers aren't Ukrainians.
Still. America is going to see significant losses if they proceed. Which they will because their leader is an egotistical idiot.
I'd bet money on them losing a carrier before this is over.

Honestly the more I've thought about it, the more I think this war is a solid play by the US, despite my general hatred of drumpfgh.

Two major reasons, the first one I believe we've achieved already, and the second is a major gamble. The first is stopping their nuclear program. The initial strikes on Iran makes it clear how much of an irrational actor they are, they are mad dogs that attacked countries that were ostensibly their allies, or at least ranged politically neutral to friendly with, for no real reason in a crazy lash-out. If they ever got working nukes there's no telling when they would've tried launching them at the US, or anyone else for that matter. We've set their nuclear program back, hopefully decades, so we've achieved one victory.

The second being the strait of Hormuz. If we were able to completely control the strait, imo we would go back to solidly being the world superpower, no question about it. We would effectively neuter china, and it would be one of the defining moments of the century. It's a gamble because there seems to be a real chance we aren't able to take the strait and install a government amenable to the US in Iran, but with boots on the ground those chances go up a lot. We have stopped the policy of 'speak softly and carry a big stick', and gone to 'scream and yell and smash the stick on the ground every chance we get', which emulates Russia and what Putin has wanted to do, but we actually have the manpower to do so. It'll change the dynamics of how the world sees the US forever, but we are probably strong enough to say 'fuck you' to other countries opinions of us, they'll have to ally themselves to us anyway because we are the undisputed #1.

>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif traveled to Jeddah where he met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, according to a statement from Sharif’s office. Sharif said Pakistan would “always stand firmly with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and strive for their mutual desire for peace in the region,” the statement said.
>The visit came a day after Sharif spoke with Iran’s president about the deteriorating situation in the Middle East. Iran has been pummeling Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia, with waves of missile strikes in response to its war with Israel and the US, pushing up oil prices and disrupting global energy supply chains.
>On Wednesday, Sharif’s spokesman, Mosharraf Zaidi, said in an interview with Bloomberg TV that there was “no question” Pakistan would come to Saudi Arabia’s aid, “no matter what and no matter when.”
>“The real question is what is Pakistan doing to make sure things don’t come to a point where any of its closest partners are further embroiled in a conflict that could potentially undermine stability and prosperity in the region,” he added.
>Also present at Thursday’s meeting in Saudi Arabia was Pakistan’s top military leader, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as well as Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the prime minister’s office said.
>The visit to Saudi Arabia followed a phone call between Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday, in another sign of back-channel talks to find a resolution to the conflict. Pezeshkian said Wednesday one of the conditions for a ceasefire would be “guarantees against future aggression” and that he’d relayed that message to leaders of Russia and Pakistan.
>In his phone call with Pezeshkian, Sharif “expressed hope Iran would enjoy peace, stability, dignity and prosperity in the years ahead,” Andrabi said.
tl;dr due to America's inability to resolve the situation and to protect the Gulf states, they are now moving to other solutions
Brilliant, very good move from this clown administration.

Boots on the ground is also most likely impossible to even do given that all forces would be getting pummeled by missiles and drones. Doing Desert Storm or Normandy style operations would mean your guys would be getting absolutely wrecked while they're just preparing to invade or establishing their presence on the coast. And then there's the issue that the US doesn't even have the basic infantry numbers needed for either.
