In hindsight merely selling my crypto for a 10x like I planned and then fomoing into GDXU in september like I wanted to (but pussied out of) was the ideal setup. I mean shit dude the October and January tops were so obvious, and I would have sold on January 1st anyway for tax reasons. I literally sold GDXU (not all in) right before that shit crashed to hell in october. It would have been so easy with all my brain power in at 140 out at 240. Fuckin blap blap motherfucker n shit.

Because inflation and they expected rate cuts but instead you're more likely to see rate rises, gold isn't a hedge against inflation despite it being commonly said, it's a hedge against currency debasement which is why rate cuts cause gold to go up and rate rises or lack of rate cuts cause gold to go down

they are releasing the... KRAKEN
I mean iran oil
maximum pressure, except not maximum pressure

Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea.

At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury.

This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system.

and iran is going taco on japan's access to oil too
Seems like they are really buckling to the pressure of the biggest customers of oil from the persian gulf.
most especially china, who is very angry at iran now. but also india, and now japan

Seems like iran and america really want to step away from the whole "fuck the world's supply of oil" plan.
not sure what this means for the price of oil, because both govts are so incredibly inept that chances are, this attempt to relieve pressure just makes the problem worse
>>
>>62012938
But won't China just have to get their oil from the international market now since they can no longer get it as the blacklisted off market sanctioned oil which will create pressure on the price of oil?

Yes, AI already isn't profitability it costs more to run AI than they get from the limited amount of users who currently pay a subscription, AI is currently heavily subsidised, Anthropic's filing in their court case with the US government has shown they've made $5 billion in revenue and spent $10 billion just on building and training their AI, that doesn't take into account future costs to maintain it, costs related to staff, etc

The profitability of AI hinges on AGI, which we don't even know is achievable and if they did achieve AGI the government would take it anyway, they're not going to let a corporation have that technology

If you refinance your debt to higher interest rates when you're already struggling to make the interest payments, that means you have to take out even more debt to fund the interest, which pushes interest rates higher, forcing you to take out even more debt in a feedback loop that causes a sovereign debt crisis. I can't believe I have to spell it out for you gullible retards. But who am I kidding, you're a 1PBTID yid in a bunker trying to muddy the waters on purpose.

The market for those century bonds is going to be absolutely tiny, and they'll have an even higher interest rate. This is terrible cope after being burned. Playing broad indexes doesn't work in this market unless you do it aggressively. You'll just lose return to inflation or circumstance. Might as well go into real estate.
>>
>>62013207
>25
i wish i had just invested in broad index funds at your age instead of being a stock-picking retard
guess everybody has to make their own mistakes
>>
>>62013207
>the iran war really killed the momentum
that's what etfs were made for, they shield you during bad times
you need some form of income though to start, which etf investing cannot be
it should be your job and yes, trading can be a job
being 25 you should be considering investing in a career though, you you probably already did
bad times will pass btw, and sorry for the rambling
>>
>>62013213
you should diversify with real estate, but only after 100-200k invested imo
>>
>>62013213
>real estate
Could be great, but it's quite a hassle. If you just buy property to appreciate over time, from what I've read it doesn't historically grant the highest returns (though it could just be how things will work from covid onwards). Buying properly to live in/rent sounds appetizing, but there's quite a lot of work and expenses with opportunity costs associated with it, especially if you take a large mortgage. Honestly dealing with tenants sounds like the last thing I'd want to do.
>>
>>62013214
idk man I get being careful about the market conditions, but I need the money sooner rather than later and I dont want to get into debt to buy things I need
>>62013217
yeah, I got a career as a software dev, got in during the covid boom in 2021 and managed to keep myself in the game through the layoffs and AI craze
Ill probably rotate back into etfs at some point

its all just so gay
>>
>>62013220
It doesn't. It's also not without risk. But putting it into perspective, to beat the S&P500 in the past 10 years you'd have to do a +100% over 10 years, adjusted for inflation.
That's not an incredible RoR, considering what some really basic blue chips did.
It's also a lot more viable to go into indexes if you already have money.
>>
>>62013244
>if you already have money
Which form of investment that doesn't apply to? Personal growth?
>+100% over 10 years
Honestly if it's after inflation adjustment I'd be perfectly fine with these gains. If it's with close to 0 work with not much risk I'd take it. It's actually above my expectations which would be like 7-8% Anything above 5-6% p.a. after inflation adjustment seems good to me. Yeah, there sure are ways to make much better returns, but I'd really need to be convinced about the investment to avoid fucking up. With indexes I have a pretty firm belief that they'll appreciate if I just hold and downturns aren't even all too bad as it basically functions as a discount.
>>
>>62013168
late 30s, and I'm not really stressing that much.
as I see it, it's one of the following
>this ends up recovering fairly quickly again (after it got a lot worse of course), which might give me some good buy opportunities
>this does not recover quickly again and my plans of retiring early have gone to shit, but it will surely recover over the next fucking 30 years or so, at which point I get regular retirement rather than an early one (so the same as if I hadn't gotten involved in the stock market at all)
>this never recover, at which point I have bigger problems to worry about
it's not money I was going to use any time soon.
on the other hand, it obviously still feels bad when you live rather frugally, and then see all that money you worked hard for disappear into thin air without getting anything in return for it.
might reduce my savings rate and increase my consumption budget to lessen the sting a bit long term.
>>
>>62013254
I'm talking about being more speculative if you have less money. It's a common gambling strategy.
Mind also: this 100% figure is coming right out of a bull market. I'd expect it to be closer to 40-80% if you took it from today.
The question then is 'Am I content with 10 years at this RoR, or does this not appreciatively improve my situation.'
>>
>>62013214

by the time you have made enough mistakes to learn from them, you already lost a lot of those years that really lead to snowballing gains later on

Bro. Women are passé, this is the age of incelism. Just accept it and disconnect from this gay society.
>>
>>62013260
Well, you wrote it, it's a gambling strategy and while it probably makes sense to human mind, I think it's completely backwards. What really matters is expected returns and risk/risk of ruin, which isn't really impacted by the amount being invested. The thing is that you need to pick/evaluate your positions if you want to go riskier, unlike just going into ETF's, which are great precisely pretty much because they bypass the whole exact process.

I thought about going into AI infrastructure companies as they seem to be a pretty good bet at making a profit for some times, but I'm kind of too lazy to bother at this time and I doubt I'll ever regret it.

I can't, I just put in everything at once the week before Epstien's Fury and I'm most likely gonna dollar cost average. I don't mind markets going down, I'm anticipating and take it as a normal part of the journey, but markets going down literally days after me putting my money in with no time to grow just isn't a pleasant experience. it's down only by like 6-7% so far, but I really wish I could've gotten at least a couple % of grown and time of being in the green instead of going instantly red.

>>
>>62013313
>you dca to avoid that
That's exactly what I was doing? Putting as much as I can in to get market exposure regardless of prices. I just didn't have anything invested before, so I put everything in at once.

>>62013316
It's more irritating rather than anything else. I don't mind markets going down, it's just the timing of it happening right after I go in, if I happened to wait a couple of days I could've bought for about 5% less, which isn't a massive difference and I don't regret doing so as I don't think I could've anticipated Isreal attacking Iran, but knowing I just happened to catch a pretty bad timing is like stepping into poop or getting shat on by a bird.
>>
>>62013333
> so I put everything in at once.
thats not dca you tard
>>
>>62013335
I guess it technically might not be, but it's following the same principle of putting your money in regardless of current prices to get as much market exposure as possible, which is what I'm doing.

It's called dollar cost average. You split up your investment over time so that you get the average price over that time frame. On the other hand, buying all in one lump sum, is basically the opposite of that.

As others have said, DCA is when you make contributions every x months, so now you would be lowering your average price as it goes down, buying more shares with the same amount of money.
It's very efective because if you never touch that money it compounds interest over investments made 10 ,20 ,30 years, and the stability of the index plus not paying taxes (because you don't cash out) adds to it
