The more and more you get away from the fundamentals that matter (price, volume, and historical buying/selling) the more diluted the signal you're going to get is.Its why these days all I pay attention to is price action and RSI.

An 'indicator' is a feature in ML lingo, and quality features make the model. If you have a library of high SNR features, you're gonna make it. There's whole departments dedicated to feature engineering and signal research at big firms, which is essentially 'indicator' engineering. OTOH, yeah if you think RSI is some magical astrology, yeah you're NGMI.

There's definitely a difference on quality in TA between quants at a major trading house and some dude on TradingView.Moreover I certainly don't trust myself to use those tools properly, so I try to keep it as simple as possible. I will say I have actually seen some people act like RSI is astrology, which is funny as hell.

Sometimes it just feels the scales are little too titled toward being dismissive of any indicator-adjacent methods though so some contrarian-posting is due imo. If you're dissing indicators wholesale, you're essentially implying there's no utility in applying transformations over time series market data to reduce noise, which I think most would disagree with. But yeah this is on the other side of the curve from some bimbo posting about his MACD cross. Then again, if it works for that person, more power to them.
