Part of markets and evaluation is that they're determined by actors on the market that may or may not be fully rational, so there's some social engineering and speculation that going into it and I don't feel like really bothering with it too much.The thing with gold is that from I've gathered it's being massively stockpiled by national banks lately in an attempt to distance themselves from USD as the global reserve currency and the current price is due to factors such as oil shocks making bonds much more attractive, making people choose them over gold investing. Also something about countries in middle east liquidating their gold positions to fulfil their USD hedges/stakes due to decrease of revenue due to oil sale shortages. Then something about leveraged etfs and positions being forcefully settled to cover losses in other sectors.All in all there's just too much information for me to feel comfortable at this moment to make too specific of a choice in investing, so I'll just stick with the "markets go up over long enough periods of time, so buy whole markets in form of index-tracking ETF's with low fees and decent tracking to capture that general market growth"
