Yes but subsequent restocking of reserves and the buildout of new, even larger reserves could keep oil prices elevated for years.

I think formerly poorfag Southeast Asian countries that don't have big reserves will definitely build them after this.

As for India I have no idea what the fuck they were doing. A country of over a billion people with enough reserves to last 2 weeks. They are Indians so they might not learn.

I can't believe people still don't understand the oil situation.
Possible areas of relief:
>rationing prioritized for industry
>Release of oil and lng from Russia to Wesern countries
>Long term oil drilling projects
>Long term alternative sources such as coal liquefaction and green energy
>restoring of the strait and repair projects on gulf oil infrastructure (months-years)
In short, shit's fucked. It's fucked for a long time. Prepare accordingly.
>>
>>62054288
>>62054288
It'll take months to do that. For one you have to convince all the shipping companies and insurance companies that the Strait is actually safe, they won't know if the Strait is safe, or if it's just """safe""" and the war is going to resume again after a month

Then you have to consider there are issues with storing oil or shutting down fields for an extended period of time. Because you can only store so much oil there have been wells that were closed down. Some of them can be reset quickly, but if others were plugged up, they have to be reopened through a slow, arduous process to avoid damaging the field. And there is always a chance that the field itself is damaged if the wells stop flowing for too long because water can rush back in to the pores of the rock

And that's just oil, we're not considering LNG either or the business angle of all this, even if production restarts properly there will be a lag before businesses and manufacturers can restructure properly in response to the changes

That and aluminum

Apparently when Trump jacked up the prices on Canadian aluminum to 50%, US consumers of aluminum like canning facilities went and started buying their aluminum from the Middle East while Canadian aluminum foundries locked in long term supply deals with Europe.

So Aluminum is way more expensive than it needed to be and there will probably be a shortage of it in the US. Making aluminum is apparently very energy intensive, so places with low electricity costs dominate the production and domestic US aluminum smelters didn't bother opening new plants.

We are one month max away from a global liquidity crisis. No country will escape. Which means the big print. Everywhere is coming. All metals, critical minerals. Despite the demand destruction. Are the place to be. But be careful of oil and gas. It’s the last to pop. Cash out before it leaks. By mid April have 50% cash. I expect a short very sharp plunge in all assets. But what you want to take advantage of the commodity bull that’s coming.

The gulf is being deliberately wrecked. Deep down I don’t think the plan is to open Hormuz. It’s to destroy the gulf and naturally it will follow. The US and the Russia China Axis become the only major players left standing.

The US despite its financialised problems. With Canada is sitting on oceans of hard assets and commodities. And in the end. When you need to re-collateralise debt. You need things of physical value.

So as a European all my money is in US and Canadian metals and commodities. Because I can’t invest in China or Russia because there will be a financial iron curtain for a decade before a balance settles down. So if you’re in the west. You want a jurisdiction that’s metals, oil, gas and commodities self sufficient and net exporter. That’s USA Canada plus South America.

Sad to say Europe will be a disaster. But that’s where my money is going.
>>
>>62054471

You realize Russia doesn't even exist for half a century, right? In 91 it was reset to zero and it didn't take half a century to reach whatever you perceive its currently unreachable high point to be. 2007, is that the point when Russia was "on its feet"?

the destruction is deliberate, saw something today that solidified it beyond doubt for me. the attack on the desal plant in kuwait. i thought "why the fuck would they do that? they don't gain anything." sure enough:
>Iran Alleges Series Of 'False Flags' - Including On Kuwait Water Plant - Designed To Perpetuate War
i believe them. the demonic cult that controls Dump/Netanyahu placed Dump in office in 2016 specifically to usher in WW3. it's why i've stayed short; everybody thinks the situation revolves around nation states when it simply isn't the case. the people perpetuating this have no intention of stopping because they don't have anything to lose here. iranian belligerants probably don't understand this (or are aspect to it but i don't think so given they're trying to overthrow them) but they do understand what they're up against WANTS them to go complete apeshit and destroy everything around them so they are keeping their cards close, staying level headed.

They spent the last 5 years pivoting to do things themselves

Plus they are pretty self sufficient in terms of what the other anon mentioned, which is whats really going to matter

I'm in europe, and it's fucked... 90%+ of the public still don't know whats coming, neither do lot of the politicians and those that do are purposely contributing to the coming collapse

It takes a tanker days or even a month to cross the Atlantic. Either it was already near Cuba, or it was sent out before infrastructure got blown up
>>
>put most of my money into UCO
>its a 2x oil fund but it invests in 3 different futures instead of the on the run monthly that USO does
>tired of watching USO go up by 4% and UCO go up by 2%

UCO has a 200% margin requirment, USO's is 30%. USO isn't leveraged so it doesn't have chop loss.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. this was OK for me the past month because of trumps retard TRVTH posts, but if I want full gain from oil going to 150, I'm not sure whats best

I guess if anything stupid makes spot prices dive I'll move some money from UCO to USO
but even then I'm not sure because it obvious that the market still thinks that curve farther out is going to go down, so oil 6 months out is not being priced into the yield curve yet which means further gains

its a puzzler
>>
>>62054528
It also had a civil war in Chechnya and like 3 economic collapses in the 90s alone. And most of that Soviet infrastructure was squandered by oligarchs and corrupt politicians in a matter of years so by the time Russia reached that "peak" in 00s that you so fondly remember, none of that shit was left.
You're massively overestimating how high that peak was and how unreachable it is now

Difference is that anyone can print cash. Anyone can promise to pay gold too, you won't know if it's there until you go to sell it.

You can't print oil, and the whole world economy from transport to food to clothing to pharmaceuticals, literally everything you see other than plants and the dirt under your feet needed oil to get where it is. If you wanna see what a world without oil looks like, read some history books about 1800 and before

Cause they've traded their whole lives with paper money and this is their first experience with an inelastic resource.

The expensive popular minerals like gold, silver and diamond have their supplies and prices controlled, and nobody's bombed a diamond mine for a while. Even if they all have serious industrial uses, the required quantities are so small that buyers can absorb price changes, and a lot of those materials can be recycled without loss. These materials are also used at specific levels in the supply chain.

Oil is used up permanently, it is everywhere in the supply chain, and nobody other than maybe the US/China/Russia has more than a year's reserve.

My biggest worry now isn't even not breaking even, it's that the USD will be so devalued any gains are useless

Additional point, I've noticed a lot of experts in one field assume their knowledge is directly transferable. Wolfram Alpha is probably the best mathematical tool out there and can solve grad uni level equations easily, but the guy who coded it is convinced he's got the next theory of everything in physics even though his "theory" doesn't make any predictions and thus can't be verified.

Traders make money and think they're now tech and geopolitical gurus, but they never were.

realistically speaking whats a solid plan to turn 50k into 2.5 mil throughout this debacle? from this point forward, don't tell me what i should have done a month ago. I'm going to stay long oil short tech but i'm accruing a fat cash position for a hail mary play. I think oil will crash before it short squeezes

April WTI futures stopped trading weeks ago + we found out it was the DOE making arrangements with private companies to short the oil market by loaning them SPR barrels in exchange for 1.2 barrels per barrel later this year

so they either got tipped off, are smart enough to take as much uranium as possible at all times or somehow get info from the USG
interesting
also,
>Not only had Iran concealed information about activities at its nuclear facilities, the agency reported; Iran had also reportedly obtained highly confidential documents from the agency and member states for several years, allowing it to know the agency’s assessment of Iran’s nuclear program equipment.

I have also read fun stories about UNDAMAGED refineries and LNG whatsits taking months to start back up because of course that bitch ain't like your normal car and you can't fire em up without massive prep work
and even after they are restarted it supposedly takes forever to escalate them back up to rate production so we are in for some massive chaos
