Are you serious? The Iranian people are under a dictatorship that has been killing millions of their people and neighbors alike for 50 years. If anything it’s criminal that Trump hasn’t done more. Oil and gas producers are at the base of the supply chain and can charge more for the product without incurring additional costs. So they win out by having low cost wells that produce a barrel for $40-50 and can sell it for double or triple that.

They also take the long terms futures market into consideration. So the front month futures can go down, but further out go up, and the equities are still up and vice versa.

Generally it's just a more stable way to play the disruption than futures or other financial instruments.

>>
>>62065952
No, but XOM, CVX, BP, COP, etc will make money hand over fist when oil is above $90 and are large enough to ride out short term negative disruptions to the market without long term negative impacts to their balance sheet. XOM is also by far the biggest player in the chemical feedstock and plastics business which are not as sensitive to oil prices. XOM has raised its dividend every year for nearly 50 years. CVX has as well, however it is more upstream focused and has a higher yield. For this reason it also trades at a higher p/e than XOM most of the time. If you want to just speculate on wild price swings buy one of the leveraged ETFs or oil futures.

When trump started this that weekend at the end of February, the German chancellor, the premier of Denmark, premier of Britain the president of France all these guys congratulated each other and trump for killing the ayatollah and the entire Iranian leadership. They were happy about this, they were extremely pleased and anyone who said it was wrong was dogpiled by the media. The reason? People and by extension investors are unbelievably bullish and happy about the Iran war.

100W for 30 minutes is 50 watt hours. 5 minutes is 0.08333 of an hour, so call that 600 watt-fiveminutes. 3/4 horse pump or compressor needs 5 amp at 120v, 600 watt. 30 minutes gets you 5 minutes of water pressure or two/three refridgeration cycles. it works in a pinch

A fridge uses ~1.5-2kwh per 24h depending on the weather and size of fridge.

A person cycling hard generates about 100w (0.1kw).

To generate the 1.5 to 2kwh for a fridge you'd need to pedal hard for about 15-20 hours per day.

>T. I used to pay for electricity in cash from an unregistered meter that I'd have to buy magnetic strip cardboard cards from the building janny to switch on, so I used to monitor the baseline readings very carefully.

It's funny thinking about it because it was fucking awful and I came up with numerous schemes; e.g. researching the meters to try to override the export rate, running an extension lead from hall sockets to run a heater on full blast overnight in winter.

My piece du resistance, which I never got round to implementing after running some calculations was;

The water wasn't on a meter or even registered as existing (e.g. it was free). So id speculated about attaching a little electric generator to the bathroom tap and leaving it running all day connected to an electric blanket or one of those little temu low wattage heaters to try to raise the flat temperature even if only by a degree or three.
