China is not going to spend a dime to have a ship immediately get impounded leaving the strait, nonetheless risk going in when they literally have Russia right next to them for their oil. Iran was never more than 5% of their total oil imports before this started.

Its a scam for special/emergency funding to friends of elected retards. Local elected officials take bribes from developers to approve developments with out appropriate analysis or expansion of the required local, regional, or state infrastructure. Who would have thought bad planning would have bad outcomes? There is a shit ton of water, its just not good quality water and its costs money to treat it and pipe it to where its needed. Enourmuos amouns of water are produced in the oil fields and pumped back down to different zone and when the poor space is full they need to pump it somewhere else to evaporate it or pump it underground in new locations. WaterBridge in west Tejas is a business doing just this.

It's still good money though and it doesn't even have to work. Look at the British IDE detector that was just a wire, they made millions and millions of dollars on it.
>The ADE 651 consists of a swivelling antenna mounted via hinge to a plastic handgrip. It has no battery or other power source; its manufacturer claimed that it is powered solely by the user's static electricity. To use the device, the operator was to walk for a few moments to "charge" it before holding it at right angles to the body. After a substance-specific "programmed substance detection card" is inserted, the device is supposed to swivel in the user's hand to point its antenna in the direction of the target substance. The cards are claimed to be designed to "tune into" the "frequency" of a particular explosive or other substance named on the card.

It already is after the Iran war and trump threatening to leave NATO nuclear proliferation incentive is at a all time high, i do think this is very very unlikely and you are right about the risk reward being skewed massively but i think when people see headlines like Russia mulling nuclear weapon usage they immediately think they are dropping 750kt monsters on random targets, this is something at least according to CIA director Bill Burns was being actually considered during the Kharkiv and Kherson counteroffensives late 2022

so there is news that one guy in china told another guy in china to do something

most likely, this is just chirping and signalling, and likely won't come into affect or accomplish anything at all, by the time iran and america decide they are done with their posturing and signalling.
in other words, the war is over and now we will see massive amounts of theater and political maneuvering.
many countries will talk about what they "could do" or "would have done". It's already done. all the action has already happened.

No, they will not split; and no, you will not hold it for longer than a year at most. Memory/storage/semiconductors are commodities, and in times of drought they go through the roof, then crash again. Look at Micron in the 90's for a good example of this. It went from below $10 to above $80 twice, then went back to $10 and stayed there for more than a decade. Set a trailing stop loss order and have the self discipline to leave it alone, or you will ruin yourself.

the biggest bottleneck to AI is compute and memory, and unless some seriously revolutionary architecture comes along, were going to need more of both, not less, forever

So the CNBC analysts are saying that this week's earnings reports were proof that tech companies are monetizing AI and therefore the valuations are justified, but it seems to me that what's driving the earnings is the same thing that's been driving earnings for three years now: AI capex. I don't see any proof that AI is driving productivity gains. Investors give money to OpenAI, OpenAI gives that money to tech companies for compute, and the tech companies report amazing earnings. Nothing has fundamentally changed here and I don't see what these Wall Street faggots are gushing about.

Google spends on cloud compute capacity, but who's buying that capacity? Probably unprofitable AI companies and businesses forcing their workers to use LLM credits to look good on reports. If this shit turns out to useless (which it probably is), then Google is left with hundreds of billions worth of compute capacity that they're never going to see a return on. This is exactly what happened to the telecoms companies in the dotcom era.

Step 1 - learn to invest. Not all ETFs are the same or worth investing in.
Step 2 - after you learn to invest you can try swing trading (if you know the difference between that and day trading) with a very small % of your money to see if you are any good at it. There are lots of ways to lose money, and few to make money. It can take time and depends a lot on how much time your have to learn and where you get your info from.

Around $2.5T and a further $1T from Refined Petroleum Products
39 / 3.5 = 11.1 years

It also says that the Government only gets around 23.8% from a barrel of oil, so if the entire worlds supply of oil came from the USA, it would be around 45years.
Assuming the USA doesn't increase it's debt nor accrue interest
>>

I've done enough to know that the private credit sector hasn't been very lucrative, at least not more recently. Multiple firms have been limiting redemptions from investors. Like I said, default rates are increasing. Obviously to some degree, all of this is going to be expected but it's the increasing frequency that signals a poor future. It's not just one firm facing increased withdrawal requests.

The industry grew when interest rates were lower but with higher interest rates now, there are higher borrowing costs. Maybe the industry will be fine long term but I don't see any real growth in this sector going forward.

Not trying to discount you, just genuinely trying to understand what you see in OWL specifically.

The big ones like the dip last year, you bought and held, coulda gotten a 12x on soxl etc as an example.

Now we look at the chart and Trump's yesterday tweet about Cuba and the acceleration of tensions with Iran over the weekend and look at that chart on the Weekly. A topping out candle. Big OOf. We're about to head back down. The question is, will the Gap 4 weeks ago be the Support, or will it head lower from there?

That is nothing, turns out last years bad harvest and the projected chemical shortages in Belarus/Russia for this years planting have caused a SEVEN HUNDRED PERCENT rise in European Potato prices JUST THIS MONTH. Also they got all their seed stock from the EU and can't any more.

Africa and India ain't getting fertilizer any time soon.

I have a chink phone with a non google android, I also have a pinephone but don't use it as a main, mostly for shitposting. I don't use Microsoft or Macos, I mostly use Debian and at work I mostly deal with BSD but some REHL. I do technically have MBP I got for free from work but I never even opened it because I need an Ethernet port for work. I have 2 credit cards and they are both Amex which I don't even really use it was to build my goy score (820).

Many people may forget or be completely unaware but in may 2023 Russia planned some sort of false flag dirty bomb operation at the Zaporizhian nuclear power plant which they planned to plan on Ukraine, the details of the event are still quite foggy and we don't know what the Russian plan was after if they had decided to go through with their initial plan, all we do know is that the biden administration had begged both India and China to ask Russia to back down and not go through with their dirty bomb plan which is attested to by very credible reports.

Lukashenko set artificially low prices so Russia could have affordable potatoes. This was so Russia could not have people freak out over prices as a favor to Putin. This also made it so farmers in Belarus couldn't break even planting this year due to artificially low state prices. Best part?

Russia still has high prices, when the market reacted Luka quietly sold their stockpile to profiteer so the amount that Russia had payed a inflated price for (but not as much as the market) wasn't available. So now everyone is desperate for seed potatoes since the sudden price spike makes it affordable to plant again but it is getting late.

People think Lukashenko is harmless but King Potato plays the long game.

/biz/bros, I'm not so sure that I'm better at markets than Berkshire is.
It could just be that they're dead wrong, right? That the people working there are just idiots and there's no reason to be worried about a crash?

they're an insurance company not an investment bank. they have to keep a defensive posture. secondly they are cornered and have to buy a railroad, csx or canadian pacific, and everyone knows this and they are going to have to pay top dollar.

If their total assets goes up by a billion% why shouldn't the cash position also go up?

Berkshire is so large they are having more and more difficulty finding where to put all the cash, but you should note they are making so much money off the "cash" which is just rolling notes and bills they are making more money than before. They should just keep doing what they are going with their cash, buy gold and silver, and diversify into land, water resources, owning some of all major companies.
