Buffett / Marks13F edition.
Why did they buy these stonks?
Why did Buffett sell all of MA/V? Does he expect citrini? Or does he expect mass defaults?

>Why did Buffett sell all of MA/V? Does he expect citrini? Or does he expect mass defaults?
they only process payments. your bank is taking the credit risk. AXP is taking risk and he owns AXP and BAC. maybe new Buffett doesnt believe in V and MA...

not that it matters but selling STZ at the bottom is funny. i have avoided alcohol stocks for years as sales have fallen. its odd Berkshire didnt figure that out sooner.
>>
>>62237585
They did, they had some pensioner that was doing that and working 40-60 hours a week but apparently he kept taking from the till. They seem to have it in their mind that I'd make a great manager since I had ideas for improving the store from a business level, but shit nigger I can grab PT hours at Walmart for $20.25 and get benefits on top of that

Why in the hell is Marks so energy heavy? He is one of market masters so I bet he has his own reasons but I thought Iran war would end soon, Either US or Iran folding.
Maybe its not? Or even if iran war ends energy might go up? 0 Idea. nay thoughts?

idk. all we can do is guess.

-maybe the new guy feels the AXP exposure at 17% is enough to the credit card sector
-new guy feels he can find better deals than V and MA

they have some legit pointless investments imo.... KHC has zero growth and its been that way for years... SIRI seems like a terrible business and stock (has been a holding for years).

Berkshire has the buffett mystique but its really GEICO, BNSF, a utility company Apple shares, and gov t-bills.

I could see a major event Monday in US markets if the South Korean contagion speads across Asia Sunday night and we enter margin call land.

A Long-Term Capital Portfolio or Archegos type situation could be in play next week. There are so many hedge funds out there juiced up on margin, when the system gets stressed, they start breaking.

Letting US treasury yields fly without a fight today says this may be what Trump and Bessent are angling for right now. They need to bring oil demand down to match the new supply and they are going to have to crash economies to do it.

recent thought: the whole "commodities in general mean revert because of human enginueity y'know maaaaaan people find all kinds of tech and new ways to produce raw materials cheaper" argument is totally and completely based on oil price mean reverting. what if they don't mean revert, simillar to '73? never been a believer but we used to back currency with silver in the coinage. and given silver's recent performance it's a bit of a confounder. i could see oil phase transitioning to 160-400. wheat, sugar, corn, nickel, steel, lumber, fixed income. what if what if what if.

RTX and BAE at the moment but I'm researching some more niche companies.
I really want to get in on drones but I don't like RCAT and ONDS much. Trying to find a dark horse.
I'm heading to Ukraine in a few weeks to try and see the interceptors in use for myself. The claimed rate is 90% interception. If that's true then it's game changing but I want to see it with my own eyes. There's 8 different types I've found so far on my research. All fairly similar but with different characteristics. I want to know which ones are credible and preferred and I want to get in early on any offerings.
There's one that's launched from planes and helicopters I'm especially interested in. Much bigger range than the others as deployed at altitude.
There's going to be serious interest in these (already is) and they're still being produced in small enterprise.
They won't stay small for long.

Theres a balance you have to strike. Unfortunately when a community cant self police (it might become reddit eventually), you have to rely on a moderation team to protect the culture of the and actually have quality discourse. The biggest issue on this site is there is no real line of communication between the users and the moderators so if jannies go on a power trip or just neglect their responsibilities there isnt much you can do.

I noticed that Marks bought BKLN, a senior loan etf. He prob wants to add some amount asset with different profile, because he is mainly a high yield bonds investor and a private equity guy and stocks are side jobs for him, and his company is running a lot of bonds and loans.
Why did he buy BKLN instead of SRLN?
The SRLN is run in active way and its only 0.05% more fee.
You can do stocks in passive way because winners will win big and mend the amount losers lost, but you can't do that in bonds and you want active.
Marks is active too. But why did he buy passive BKLN for 0.05% less fee?
Is it because he thinks Blackstone will throw (offload) its own turds into SRLN etf?

you bear nigs are dumb. Trump reversed liberation day because of the bond market. You think he’s not going to do the same now?

Maybe their finances are in good shape compared to others I suppose. It's interesting he's buying embraer as well. Smaller, more fuel efficient regional hoppers.

1T dollar company with 380B in cash and the best they can think of is a small position in Delta. Think of all the corporate connections they have too, private markets, etc.

it really is grim. WB should have been buying VOO with his excess earnings all these years with picks like Delta (or the new guys pick... who WB picked)
>>
>>62237828
I'm wondering if they know something regarding embraer/delta.
Regional flights have been the first casualties here in Europe due to fuel costs.
An airline picking up that slack with smaller more fuel efficient planes could maybe be profitable. Would make sense as passenger numbers start falling off. 737s too big and thirsty.
Pure speculation on my part though.

I am contemplating whether i should buy PBR-A and EXE.

Oil is high now, but I think war can end if trump feels pressure.

But his entire war will be a fail war if he just gives up because of approval rate and GOP people will stop supporting him so he will lose a lot of political assets.

However, if war ends can the oil price keep going up or will it go down?
Oil wells in middle east are already being sealed by concrete (but i don't know if taking the concrete seal out will be easy or not, and if the wells pressure will remain same).
But I think if market people can expect war ending we might actually think oil can go down.
I am not sure about anything. What the FUCK is Marks thinking?
Is he seeing structural shift to oil as AI datacenter energy usage going up?
But they'll bring in nuclear power. SMRs and shit. But it can take min 2~5 years to build SMRs and 7~15 years to build big nuclear reactors.
Again I know nothing. Any thoughts?

Aye. I'm just thinking out loud. We've seen 20k+ regional flights cancelled in Europe so far. Unprofitable routes they likely wanted rid of anyway.
Just thinking of fuel does stay high or get scarce and the cost of living rises I can see a longer term move to smaller regional aircraft that Boeing and airbus don't really produce.
Airbus have the (ex bombardier) A-220 but embraer have a whole range of suitable contenders.

Steve Eisman, who is famous for movie big short and is not alway big short like Michael Burry is, says the AIs are might be a bit expensieve.
He does not say sell everything and run and AIs can remain strong because of structural reasons, but he says Nvidia is bigger than entire healthcare sector (I can understand that as healthcare needs AIs), and Defensive sectors combined became very small, like Healthcare, Utility, Staples, Energy is only like 19% of S&P 500 from 31% before.
Is this from structural change (seems so) or from K shaped economy (might be) ?
If its from K shaped economy can trump rob AI companies and hand money to poor people for votes like south koreans are trying to do? Or he might not do that because without AIs US might lose to CHN?
Any ideas?

The same airbus that dreamed up the massive loss making a380 which failed due to it being too big and thirsty?
The same Boeing who came up with the jeet coded 737 max that kept falling out of the sky?
Neither seems to have suitable planes for a major reduction in passenger numbers. They can't just pull them out of a hat. It takes a decade or more.
Just pointing out embraer do.

All I really want to own are Berkshire and Brookfield stocks. All my other investments are just ways to increase my potential future investments in those two firms. They take up a lot of space, they're ugly as fuck (warehouses with massive AC units surrounded by barbed wire), they add almost no jobs to the local economy after construction, they're loud as fuck (apparently you can hear them "whine" for a couple miles, some people get headaches), and they use tons of electricity. Some people say "well they'll just pay for the electricity" but its' still a supply/demand curve: they add a lot of demand and if there's not enough supply the prices go up for everyone.

they want to use the services from the datacenter but dont want the datacenter near them. this is especially true if they already have a job they dont care if other people get a job at the datacenter.

they are the same people who complain when an area declines in population and people move to where there is work. they vote no on everything and then ask where all the people went.

a utility company will try to add new power to the grid (because its profitable for them) but the NIMBYs will vote no to that also.

I bought some Brookfield before their earnings announcement yesterday and that ended up being my biggest gain of the day. It was weird to watch most of that be undone today. Like people just piled money into them when they announced their earnings but then just decided to pull back a day later.

I want to be stay positive about their future but investing in them almost feels like owning another ETF. I wasn't interested in buying BRK.B for that reason. I think of Brookfield as doing a little more though especially with their asset management, wealth management, and real estate ventures.
