Everytime I want to get into stocks prices are at ATH

I feel like if I bought in now, I'd be buying the top. But I also know that if I don't buy, prices will continue going higher at what they are at now will be considered cheap.

Just once, I'd like to consider getting into stocks during a crash, but most crashes happen without me hearing about it.

Just do, a heavily hedged portfolio. 40% short duration bonds, 10% managed futures, 5% gold, 5% REIT, 20% low volatility stocks, or low volatility dividend stocks, and 20% equal weight SP500. This would be a very low volatility portfolio, but also capable of growth. When there's a downturn, you can start shifting the weights to get more aggressive.

this is a very low risk allocation. With crashes over the last 15 years, you might get a 10% draw down at the most. But in normal years, you could return 7% a year.

by the way, managed futures, REITs, and 20% low volatility stocks will pay out dividends. So you'll be getting dividends from the vast majority of your portfolio. The only things not ayng dividends or very little will be gold, and the equal weight S&P 500 paying very little dividends. If you'd rather not have equal weight SP500, you could just change that to put more in low volatility divdend etf, so it would be 40% low vol instead.

I read up after yesterday's dip and it seems a lot of that growth is supposed to taper off in the coming quarters and I think their US DAU targets are a tiny bit ambitious and that's the risk I see with AI they're too concentrated in the one country that's basically ripe for AI A/B testing that could ruin one quarter and shift sentiment for a while
I think 160 short term and 200 by end of year is possible but it's still a risky bet I feel like
>>

You could probably get over that psychological barrier by incrementally buying into the market. Like 10% of your cash per month. Sort of simulating DCAing.

The same thing happens to me every time my hands feel weak. I always do this exercise: open a pair of tabs, one with DNN and one with CCJ. Set them both to one year and flip back and forth between them then do the same for five years, they are almost the same chart but CCJ has bigger five year gains.

So why not just buy CCJ? Because DNN has more room to grow and think about this: if DNN gets bought out CCJ will be the ones to do it. CCJ also owns half of Westinghouse. While Westinghouse makes huge numbers of nuclear plants many of them haven't been finished yet and Westinghouse has massive legacy baggage as well, it operates at a loss right now and Cameco has to absorb half of that.

Another factor is DNN has some pretty promising mining tech with Orano: https://www.orano.group/en/news/news-group/2021/november/sabre-a-new-mining-method-coming-to-life

I am not a expert in investing, i've just focused on this one area and i honestly think DNN will do just fine and it is cheap af. The company is just barely small enough where i can keep track of what they are doing, Cameco is just too big for one guy to keep reasonable track of everything (and Westinghouse as well) and still have a life. I honestly believe in DNN as a long.

based on my expert analysis, the kospi will either pump to a new high or this is a dead cat bounce and it will then go down further probably unless it doesn't
>>
>>62256690
I'm not too worried about losing on DNN right now because I'm long on it but it just sucked to watch it go down when I was bleeding out from semis and memory as it is. I actually want to buy more with this dip but I'm weary about the future and I think that oil or cash is play right now.

I went with DNN over CCJ because it's cheap and I also agree that it's easier to keep track of them. I think that their ISR mining plus their uranium reserves on hand will bode well for them. I'm gambling on uranium becoming a bigger player in 3-5 years. Energy demand will only go up and data centers have shown that as we grow technologically, the demand is going to increase probably closer to an exponential rather than in a linear fashion.

>>
>>62256690
Also as i have mentioned before Uranium supply companies don't really have liquidity or loan issues like normal companies, they have huge physical reserves like precious metals brokers that shields them. The big deal with companies like DNN and CCJ that separates them from someone who deals with gold or is it is a consumable that acts like the boomer rocks /pmg/ shills, with the added bonus that without them entire nations electrical grids might collapse. Where do you think those data centers will be getting their power?

CCJ (Westinghouse) has a dozen reactors under construction and a contract to produce micro reactors for the US government and probably data centers. DNN will ride that since they are CCJ junior without the factory that makes ovens to burn the spicy rocks. ATH is decades away and i'm 51, it isn't something that is on my horizon.

Worth pointing out that the future of data centers is nuclear, the cooling/water requirements for both makes it nearly inevitable that the water availability requirements for both will coincide in them being built in the same locations.
>>
>>62256719
>Where do you think those data centers will be getting their power?

That's why I'm banking on DNN and uranium. Nuclear power still has a bad rap but I think that it's going to come back online in a big way. Even if not much comes of AI, it still underscores how our energy demand is only going to scale up over time and at some point, we're going to need to supplement oil. There's also a serious move away from oil with solar and wind but those two aren't gonna cut it for data centers and anything similar.

The one thing I still disagree with you on is lithium. I don't think that it's a safe investment and I also think that there's a good chance that battery tech could change in the near future.

placing bets on nuclear because data center needs huge amount of energy aint the play. its the answer but politicians arent really pushing nuclear and i dont see them doing so for another couple of years (in the US).

the US is literally building oil infrastructure rn to supply the oil demand for the world, i dont think there will be any policies in the near term for nuclear energy

if you want energy play for data center, something like WOLF where they make large energy consumption more efficient may be the better play for now

>and i dont see them doing so for another couple of years (in the US).

I agree. I don't expect nuclear to come online in a meaningful way for another 3-5 years. But I think that small nuclear reactors will play a part in powering these data centers.

Fusion is too speculative right now. Zooming out, there's already a move away from oil. It's not going anywhere any time soon but it will become less of the predominant player over time. Clean energy is no longer some Al Gore-tier meme but what we have now ain't gonna cut it.

I'm all for riding the tech wave right now but I'm still trying to make longer-term plays and uranium is just one of them. DNN guy got me thinking more seriously about it and I think that he's onto something. AMFN guy on the other hand lost me like GRRR guy.

I don't know if I'd say that precious metal miners are a scam but I think that you're always going to be better off just buying the physical commodity. Mining is still a business and it can be fucked by bad leadership. The business will also hurt during an oil crisis and even if Iran negotiates, a lot of damage has already been done.

I'm making an exception for uranium mining knowing full well I'm probably going to be fucked short term but silver and gold miners don't seem like the answer.

Or you could bet on natural gas being used as a stop gap and grid optimisation. Nuclear takes years to get online.

Also, space data centres are only 2x more expensive than data centres powered by small nuclear reactors.

As launch costs come down, you could see that gap narrow. And small nuclear reactors aren't scalable. Orbital data centres are.

If I'm right and we're 3-5 years away from nuclear coming online, then I think that we're at least a decade or more aware from anything space-related. Nuclear to me is already the stop gap. The time for natural gas is now but I'm not trying to capitalize on that right now. I'd rather just throw my gambling money at semis and memory and try to get out before they become irrelevant for years. My other short to medium plays are cloud infrastructure and maybe cooling. You could also do construction and probably come out okay but I don't want to stretch myself too thin and have to manage too many stocks.

Thing is Westinghouse is building nuclear plants like crazy in Eastern Europe, they hate Russia and CCJ is there to give them what they want which is nuclear.

>the US is literally building oil infrastructure rn to supply the oil demand for the world, i dont think there will be any policies in the near term for nuclear energy

There is a nuance there: the USA is pushing oil because we can control it and we sell it. Why use a valuable export product domestically that acts as a means of global power projection and income when we have plenty of spicy rocks?

You are forgetting one *small* detail: The US government wants nuclear, the US military wants small nuclear. We literally are testing micro reactors that can be flown to a location or even airdropped as a joint military and civil effort. Rational economics cease to exist once the US government is involved and they will back it with military for. Prime example:

Trump and the USA got Greenland. We have total ownership of both their main RE fields and domestic mining companies via a series of deals and mergers involving CRML. CRML is for all practical intents The US Government at this point, like a soft merger of Halliburton and Blackwater except Halliburton is out of style and the guy who runs Blackwater is married to someone named Trump.

By law the SPR can only go to 150 million barrels worth of crude oil(Can go lower, needs approval from Congress), which means the SPR as of the 15th of May only had 224 million barrels worth of crude oil, the SPR is scheduled to release 132 million barrels more by the end of July, that would leave the available amount at 92 million barrels worth of crude oil left in the SPR

Most people aren't special. A lot of people have undeserved high opinions of themselves.

I used to think Warren Buffet was some sage guru, until I looked into him. His dad was a congressman lol
yeah, another boomer with rich parents that got to ride the biggest economic wave the world has ever seen with a headstart over everybody else.

Elon Musk out earns him at like 45 lmfao, and he has like 40 years of investing over Musk.

No, he already shifted to the moon waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to late for my taste. And I don't care about the "you have to reach for the stars" argument. No, fuck off. You have to set realistic goals and for years just skipping the moon as an objective prior to Mars is retarded for such an endeavour. If you can't do it on the moon, you won't on the Mars.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm willing to bet the soil and dust on the moon might have some extremely beneficial health and restorative properties to humans. Maybe storing suns energy for millenia or something in a form that super charges our evolution or something. Just guessing, the world is great when the untethered ability of human innovation is unleashed from parasites
