I find it funny how for years they screech to move your self to "defensive" positions yet even all those years ago their "safe stocks" dumped with the market together. Almost as if they were lying so that people wouldn't just go 100% cash which in turn would cause a harder dump. Regardless
>was 100% cash going right into the covid dump
>was 100% cash for the majority of the 2022 dump
>was nearly 100% cash going into the 2025 dump
Man it feels so good. Lol at holding anything and seeing the "safe stocks" fall just as hard or even worse than the "unsafe stocks" where the deals were great to slurp up. Oh 95% down on this? Don't mind if I do. 1 month later its up 1000% yet still down from its highs. Such easy gains. They yell that you will miss put on gains holding and waiting for a crash yet.....I dodged the worst of 3 different dumps in such a short timespan.
>but you can't time it, if people see it coming then it definitely cannot be a black swan!!!!
And yet covid was ringing alarm bells before the dump, the Russia and Ukraine war was ringing alarms, and of course the tariffs were being waved around a ton before the crash. Yeah nah I think I will keep doing what I do instead of listening to these "experts" who seem to just be trying to use me as liquidity and to soften the dump by making me hold bags into a dump. Why not cash out and keep my fantastic gains?

it isn't a question of if the AI bubble will burst, it's when. It's genuinely the only thing stopping the US from sliding into recession, and when investors realise that none of these companies are ever going to turn a profit they're going to flee to greener pastures. If you're smart you'll figure out what that is and start lining up positions.

man

I fucked up

I had been using VTI for my portfolio
so I took the stairway up to these highs

but at the top, I switched to a more aggressive portfolio, and dumped 10% friday
. That wiped out most of my gains since April.
If I was in VTI still I'd have only dumped like 1.5%

Just remember, everyone, there's a cost if you get greedy at the top and start being more aggressive. It can wipe out a lot of your gains even if you're up considerably.

I'm going to continue to hold, but I wished that I got more aggressive at the April lows rather than the last couple weeks ago.

it's completely different. they had a very solid business model it just took time to grow to the point of profitability. AI is a niche product that few people are willing to actually pay for. They're spending billions on a product that is only going to be used by office drones. It'll make some money, like how microsoft office does, but not enough to recoup the insane investment. Not even close.

I've been thinking a lot about how the economy develops with AI becoming more of a major factor.

I have a thesis that when super human AI hits, the chip designers that don't do manufacture like Nvidia and AMD go to 0. Literal 0. Not just struggle. They get cut completely out of the chip economy.

I would stay away from Nvidia and AMD, or any other designers not involved in the supply chain and manufacture.

One day, probably soon, the market is going to realise this and it'll be absolutely brutal.

Also, bet on robotics, the actual supply and manufacture chain for them. And bet on healthcare and biotech. When super human AI starts to get applied, health and longetivity will be the priority. Billionaires will pay everything they have for a chance to live forever. The actual value of companies with life extension technology is limitless. It could literally be greater than 50% of the economy. That's ho much money will be pumped into it. Boomers will mortgage their houses, and take out loans for a chance to extend their lives. You could charge a million dollars for your life extension thing, and people would literally kill to get it, and get it at any cost. Like terminally ill people robbing banks for enough money to afford the life extension treatments lol

For the immediate term, as in right now, aside from what is already known, like memory and optics of where the shortage is. Bet on batteries.

>>
>>62337537
Nah, it's not
If you have super human AI, you could take thousands of them, and have them constantly iterate on improved chip design, a company like TSMC could do it, and cut out the designers. That means all the software and design side of the chip economy gets cut out of the picture. Companies like TSMC could do design in house with clusters of AI, or competitors could move in on Nvidia and starve them out by charging razor thin margins for their chip AIs to iterate on design.

I really don't see a way that Nvidia survives it. They have huge overhead costs. A small competitor could move in, and cut Nvidia right out of the loop, and Nvidia couldn't do anything about it.

I think Intel will take Nvdia's launch. Intel is vertically integrated, and they do everything in house. They design and manufacture their own chips. And Intel has much more room to grow than Nvidia.

Just,I don't know about the next 10 years. That's a lot of time and a lot could change between now and then. So I wouldn't bet the next 10 years on Intel.
>>
>>62337555
It's a valid concern but you're grossly underestimating nvda's role and importance in AI. And leaping to the conclusion that TSMC will just replace them is a gigantic leap. That isn't to say that nvda is a "buy and hold and never sell" company but what you're describing would take a long time to play out, if it happens.

If it takes a while to play out, it doesn't matter. The second the market realises it, Nvidia is fucked. Whilst Blockbuster and Sears we getting disrupted by the internet, they had great earnings, but their stock rices still cut in half and they eventually went to 0.

When you buy a share of a company, yoaren't just buying their current state. You're paying for their potential future state, so companies that are being disrupted by a new technology get their prices brutally cut, long before there are any changes to the bottom lines of those companies.

With regard to Intel, they've had the "we design and manufacture our own chips" advantage for decades. Why have so many other companies blown past them? And like the other anon said you seem to be assuming Nvidia's going to rest on their laurels and not innovate or grow whatsoever. Maybe you just have an irrational hateboner for the company, I dunno.
>>
>>62337626
I'm arguing the value of intellectual work, like design, goes to near 0. Nvidia is a chip design company. They're not involved in the supply chain or manufacture of chips. Design is hard, and they're one of the few people that can design the best chips. So they're very valuable for now. When chip design is solved by super human AI, they're worthless.

The manufactures, and companies in the supply chain still have their infrastructure, their machines, and AI can't readily replace that. They will be safe from disruption for much longer.

The second I realised there's no future of Nvidia in a world where AI takes intellectual work to 0, I sold all my shares, and I'm out completely. I sold all my AMD shares as well.

I think you're just personally invested in your decision to hold Nvidia shares.

I think Nvdia will probably do fine for the next year, though. It might even considerably go up in price.

>>
>>62337579
The current environment is there just aren't enough chips, and the chips they have now in datacenters are going to be outmoded very quickly. No one can make enough chips. I don't even think it matters if one architecture is that much better than another, which is good for anyone making chips that are "good enough" to pop in a datacenter right now. But if the struggle is boiling down to manufacture, intel just isn't spending near as much as TSMC in fab buildout. I think intel is catching a wave of a tide that raises all ships because demand is so absurdly high, but I don't see how they capitalize on that long term when competing fabs are spending several times over intel's investment on manufacture.
