A question regarding covered call ETFs: the distribution is based on the ETF's nav, right?
Like, for example, if the nav goes down by 20%, the div will also go down by 20%; and if the nav goes up by 10%, the div will also go up by 10%, right?
I'm assuming the "price" of covered calls is a percentage of the underlying asset, and not a fixed value. Am I correct ot assume this?

Back in the early 1900s, people literally did say that.

Automobiles were unreliable, the road infrastructure wasn't set up, and fueling stations weren't widespread. Even by the late 1920s, doing a cross-country drive in an automobile was still a major expedition.

The modern "just get in your car and drive somewhere" experience only came about because of Eisenhower's push for interstate expressways in the 1950s. And the only reason we were able to afford to build those was because WW2 destroyed all the other productive economies on the planet and the United States was absolutely flooded with money from war-wrecked countries buying our products to rebuild themselves. FFS Bongistan still had food rationing for nine years after WW2, it's no wonder the poor dumb bastards still don't have air conditioning.

Wait, really? You're betting against AI? Huh. Well, alright then. I respect your opinion. As for other commentary regarding Adobe and other SAAS companies, know that their licenses aren't bought and renewed because of how much people love paying them money. They're very useful tools. More than having a dozen different programs. They all connect to the same ecosystem which is a massive plus. But that can be copied. Not sure what the laws are on reverse engineering code and vibing out an AI alternative of all their relevant tools, interconnected via a privately hosted server, all basically subscription free. Like it or not, we're definitely getting there in the very near future. AI growth is exponential after all.

>"Microsoft offers buyouts to 60,000 out of its 223,000 employees as it cuts costs amid AI adoption"

>"his program will have a dramatic impact on the remaining workforce, completely transforming Microsoft’s internal culture and operational workload."

>"The work done by departing employees does not magically disappear. The remaining staff will be forced to absorb these responsibilities, with management preparing for project delays, longer hours, and systemic burnout. Because the buyout is open to employees up to the vice-president level, Microsoft is poised to lose decades of specialized product knowledge and veteran leadership overnight. However, Microsoft has assured investors the payoff will be worth it as it funnels the payroll into more hyper-scale AI data centers."

What's the AI bull response to the fact that total factor productivity is either stagnating or falling + most of the cloud AI revenues being shitty start-ups?

I guess a good response to the first is that it doesn't matter if it's actually useful for businesses, just that it gives the illusion of that and they keep paying, similar to the consultancy industry.

they have a huge moat, noone fucking cancels netflix, if people have 20 dollars left in their account its getting spent on netflix. netflix should not be thought of as consumer discretionary, its consumer defensive, its basically a utility. unlike other streaming services they actually make money and don't need other businesses to prop them up like apple+, disney+ and amazon prime which noone fucking watches and makes no money. netflix is the coca cola of streaming and will literally never, ever go away. and no, youtube is not competition for netflix either. if you had to pay for youtube you would never use it

I hate that you can't talk about big companies whenever they are a buying opportunity because /smg/ is full of emotional investors who cannot think rationally and only project their personal feelings and political takes onto the situation. You people said the exact same shit about Microsoft when it was at 52 week low, it's a company full of indians going to zero. You said the exact same shit about google last year when it was at a 17 P/E ratio, indians, lawsuits, google search getting replaced by chatGPT or something. AMD last year, nobody buys AMD GPUs, they're garbage, Nvidia is the only GPU manufacturer you need. Meta back in 2022 because the Metaverse was a joke and nobody uses facebook anymore yadda yadda. I'm buying the Netflix dip and you can suck my dick next year when it's back at 100$+

Starlink and rocket shit will also moon but the telecom aspect itself is a 100x on the stock over the next 5-10 years no meme
