Aber wie das Erhabene von Dämmerung und Nacht, wo sich die Gestalten vereinigen, gar leicht erzeugt wird, so wird es dagegen vom Tage verscheucht, der alles sondert und trennt, und so muss es auch durch jede wachsende Bildung vernichtet werden...

that wraps this moveless scene. Heaven's ebon vault,
studded with stars, unutterably bright,
through which the Moon's unclouded grandeur rolls,
seems like a canopy which Love has spread
to curtain Her sleeping world.
The night is well along; the day has drawn near. Let us therefore throw off the works belonging to darkness, and put on the weapons of the light.
