Do you agree with this popular cosplay girl's opinions on male cosplays?
>>
not really.. eh. wear whatever the fuck you want, truly no one gives a shit unless its like a ahegao sweater.. then no girls will want to be near you. if you're a fucking weird slimebag people will avoid you no matter what you wear.

i personally think its easier to chat someone up if they're also in cosplay cause they're not just a pornhub basedboy and you actually have a hobby in common than some fuck who watches demon slayer and has a hentai sticker on his honda.
>>
>>10864707
>the buff guys doing shirtless cosplays are seen as less weird
Funny, I always see those guys standing around alone obviously hoping somebody will talk to them, and all of the girls I used to run with at cons (when I had a GF and her whole pack of friends) used to laugh at them and talk about them being creepy.
>>
>>10864765
This is the biggest COPE comment I've seen in a while. I'm fat and ugly as fuck, but I don't blatantly lie to myself about how many cosplay girls these guys pull.
>>
>>10864707
i agree with all of it

>70% of people I'd say don't come in cosplay
Sign of a very shitty event if it's not even at 50%. What is this even in reference to?
>people don't usually approach male cosplayers cause they think they are weird
Skill issue
>buff guys doing shirtless cosplays are seen as less weird
False premise, but also worth considering more and more girls are now dressing as these characters too, like Inosuke or Ace
>what is an acceptable cosplay for a guy to do
Whatever you damn well please.
>>
>>10864810
so who do you cosplay then
>>
>>10864812
I wouldn't say 70% don't but a large % of cons are guys just wearing nerdy ref shirts. I'm a male cosplayer and by people "thinking they're weird" what she means is their outfits/them don't look very good. I've had no shortage of people asking for pictures or approaching me.

The "no body suits" thing is off too, I can see why she'd say that though. You really need to be in in at least pretty decent shape so you don't just look like a squeezed blob of fat. Also From firsthand experience so many don't even try to obscure what clearly juts out down below, the sack or the dong and it flops along when they walk. I'm the only one who've I ever seen who tucks/tapes properly, if at all, you wouldn't even be able to tell what I had down there.
>>
>>10864896
What kind of characters do you cosplay?
How can I not be one of the ones that don't look very good.
>>
>>10864896
I forgot to answer the kigu part, but yes. I will agree on that being creepy 100% of the time

>>
>>10864896
Oh god, so many deadpool and spiderman(occasionally venom) cosplayers who dont invest on a dance belt/cup.

I don't blame men who go to cons wearing a nerdy t shirt because in poorly ventilated places like cons, i would rather be comfortable
>>
>>10864707
Nah this person needs to get a grip. People can wear whatever they want and if that makes them uncomfortable they can just not interact with them. If said cosplayer is being a creep of course that's horrible but that's another issue.
>>
>>10864707
>Be cosplay thot
>Judge everybody around you constantly
>The characters you specifically like are okay though
I dont think you need to consider this opinion too much
>>
>>10864886
i cosplay a character that fits my body type and style. because i have twinkish jew adam friedland phenotype i have a happy mask salesman cosplay with an 80lb rucksack, it's funny to watch people try to lift it.
>>
I don't cosplay to get validation from baby strollers with attitudes.
>>
>>10864897
Cute boys, Deku Ikuto Tsukiyomi etc. even though I'm 32 I have immaculate skincare, look young facially, and am only 5'6 plus I'm in good shape.

As for what not to do, for the love of god if you cosplay a body suit please at least wear a dancer's belt, or look up proper tuck taping.

Regarding in general, just don't buy a shitty aliexpress cosplay. Or even if you do just know how to use makeup + be in decent shape. Those make a huge difference.
>>
>>10865103
>Regarding in general, just don't buy a shitty aliexpress cosplay.
how do I tell if amazon/aliexpress cosplay is shitty or not
>Or even if you do just know how to use makeup
any guides for doing male cosplay makeup?
>>
>>10865104
I wouldn't really know male cosplay makeup as most of my characters look like fruits anyway, but there are many guides on youtube!

As for the aliexpress thing, you get what you pay for and 95% of cosplays for character X are going to be from sites like that. They're generally passable for most cons but for things like katsucon you just blend into the crowd. Being shape and having good skin/makeup helps a lot though.

There are many signs that these posts were made by a male, likely homosexual or transgender
1. thinks normal male cosplayers are weird

actually pretty spot on. The shirtless "buff" guys usually don't get attention from people because these dudes really just want to act hard, which actually does the job of actually driving people away. People tend to gravitate towards fun and cool, i.e. anyone with a cool mask or cosplay that's really in rn, etc, gundam, or ironic like a buff sailor moon.

The real answer is because most of them are scrotes who aren't even mildly interested in the things they are cosplaying, and are just there expecting to absolutely drown in pussy. They put together pitifully lazy cosplays that look like shit, they cosplay from anime that they are only watching because it's popular, and they don't even have the dignity to educate themselves on the series they are trying to leapfrog into pussy from without realizing that the thirst trap male characters are all in series that would take more than five minutes of googling to find out details for.
>C-COPE YOU'RE COPING AHAHA COPE COPE
There is a 5'6" 90lb Asian man somewhere out there with a well-made Aymeric cosplay, wig, props, and a good makeup job who is making an entire gathering full of women swoon and scream while you are spending another evening lifting weights to make sure your Inosuke "cosplay" that you didn't even bother to make swords for is as impossible to remember as every other buff gymcel's copypaste.

My next cosplay is going to be Nightwing and I'll be wearing a bodysuit for my first time, so I'm just curious: is a cup actually the way to go? I've got a sports cup and it's... big. I'm over here laughing at "$200" and expensive.

Fuck the materials for the hoop skirt on my latest build cost $300.
>>
>>10876329
anything you make is going to be more expensive than buying because of materials, time, and the unknown amount of time it takes to get to a skill level to produce good quality cosplays that you can't put a price on.
$200 is a single 8 hour day of work at my job. An entire cosplay would take more than 8 hours because of the start up costs, the practicing, the trial and error, the time to learn new skills, etc. Cosplay is expensive.
>>
>>10876391
It absolutely is, especially if you do high level competition builds like I do. (Crown, twitchcon when it still had a contest, WCS)

Those costumes usually have a materials cost of $500-$5,000 before you account for the hundreds of hours of work that goes into each one.

so I agree with the gist of what she's saying. Women seem to like men who are, ya know, masculine, adultlike, and stable providers as a bit of a rule. Running around dressed as a videogame makes me look dumb as hell. I realize that. I know its a double standard too. Girls in cosplay are great so its sorta unfair to us boys but tough tiddies.

This is true and I'm going to take this a step further: very few people like masculinity at these conventions at all unless you are very, very attractive and are playing some sort of shirtless SERIOUS character or one who shows off physique in some form.

I have cosplayed as both men and women. I am a guy but I look very feminine. Feminine enough that when put next to other crossplayers I look more like a woman than them, but when put next to women I look like a guy in a dress. I also do cosplay as bishonen and similar characters. I get WAY more attention from both guys and girls when crossplaying than when looking like a prettyboy. I get none looking like a bishonen. At the same con I often bring two outfits and wear both on different days, getting a shitload of attention as a girl and none as a guy, even if a feminine guy.

Masculinity in general is not cared about at all and is often looked down upon when it comes to fashion and showing off situations. This goes for cons, this goes for real life.

I only cosplay as guys, but it seems to me that many "typical" male chars in anime/manga have boring or downright ugly as hell outfits even if their personalities are ok. See: Dr. Stone. Great male chars often have clothes so generic (such as a random-ass suit or the same clothes and hair as 600 other characters) that he's not recognizable as a cosplay. Female chars and bishie chars seem, on the whole, to always have more recognizable clothing. Dunno if this plays into anything.

Can't men just wear some slight make-up. Hell if tb can have late 20s actors playing tweens then I think normal people can with makeup. But really who cares just do it cause it is fun.

I only ever see these sorts of arguments online. IRL no one cares lol. The fact you're cosplaying, no matter how shitty/low effort, puts you above the masses of people that show up wearing normal clothes.

My first cosplay was just a shitty hood and cloak. I barely knew how to sew, so most of it was glued. I still got complimented on it, met new friends related to my fandom and got a couple photos.

All of the people I approached at the first convention I just went to were all men.
>Michael Myers
>Jason Voorhees
>One Badass Vox Cosplay

I have no desire to pose with a femoid. All of my favorite characters are men.

I honestly thought it was different, like more expensive in general. I know military cosplay costs a bit more, even if you buy a lot of fake stuff. I got a new plate carrier since last post and definitively swapped my colour from black to dark multicam. The last thing I need is a new helmet, since mine is a bit too small. That will bump my outfit to around 1500€ and I hope I can control myself to not further upgrade anything.
I'm a bit concerned already, since after finishing this one I wanna get into crafting armor. I reckon that won't be much cheaper.

Any cosplay is fine as long as you dont forget to shower and properly wash your cosplay.
Lone male cosplayers cosplaying some fotm shōnen trash are constantly getting approached by photographers or just fans of the series. Only time when thats not the case is when they smell or look like the would smell.
