For the Canadian gulls, now that Anime North and Otakuthon are over, what conventions is everyone still looking forward to for the rest of the year? Will anyone top the truck rave at Anime North? I need a reason not to kill myself.
>>10933498I’m going to JapanFest but that’s about it. Not even a convention but I’ll cosplay there if it doesn’t rain.
>>10933498Canada doesn't have any good conventions. Dogshit cons for a terrible country.
>>10933498fanexpo ig. thoughts on dressing up as a musician and not some shit from a tv show or movie or series?
Fan Expo. Once I have the means to live alone, I'll be traveling to more conventions prayge.
will be at fanexpo
And again, I see the Leaves are quite active these days. I'll join yu one day, I promise
>>10933509>>10933541>>10933547Fan Expo fucking sucks
Is Kei con still happening? Is the venue still undetermined?
>>10933568>Oct 18-20 2024 - North York Central Library, Concourse Event Space
>>10933568>>10933569I don't know how they're charging those prices for hanging out at a library for a few days
>>10933610Because they know retards will pay
>>10933610Because it's North York and they're legally required to charge enough to keep the poors away.
>no cons until next yearGrim.
>>10934821Sadge. Especially since Anime Toronto seems to be a bust now?
>>10934826>My name is Can Ngo - founder and President of Anime Toronto. I started this event with the help of a collegue and her investors. I was brought on because of my experience at Anirevo Vancouver ( animerevolution.ca ). While we did our best to bring you the best event we could create, there were some issues that I encountered that could only be rectified if I had complete control over all aspects of the event.>After some discussion, I decided it would be best to walk away from Anime Toronto. Effective immediately, everything that you had known about both International Fan Festival and Anime Toronto will be going away. My colleague who will continue Anime Toronto ( at least, that's what I think she will do ), will do so without my assistance or guidance.>With that said, I don't want to give up on Toronto and have decided to bring Anirevo, a company and event that I fully own, to Toronto. We are in the early stages of planning and hope to begin our event in 2025.>Until then, I want to thank this entire community for how kind and patient you have been with us. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Can Ngo more like Can Not lmao
Is Anime Revolution a good con? I've never attended.
>>10935229One of the best cons in Canada
>>10935243There's not that many good cons in Canada to begin with. What's it competing with, Otakuthon?
we need more con in QC !!!!
>>10935249nah fuck french canadians
>>10935251french cons are way better anyway
how long before you get the Canadian Miku cosplays showing up
Is G-Anime happening in January?
I've been noticing that there are too many literal children infesting our local mid-Canada cons, especially in the last 2 years, no parents in sight, no older siblings, nothing. What the hell happened?
>>10935479Mid-Canada has cons?
>still no Anime Toronto updatesIt's over...
224 days until Anime North 2025Hope you have a good cosplay planned for the truck
>>10935255I hope you meant QC cons and not actual french because compared to north america ours arent that great
>>10935479Have you considered anime conventions are for teenagers?
>>10938830Have you considered you should stop sucking dicks?
>>10938830>Have you considered anime conventions are for teenagers?Yes
>>10938830We're all likely in our early adult years to middle age. You're not special here.
>>10939420Speak for yourself
>>10939438you must be 18+ to use 4chan
>>10939450Yeah, and?
>>10933498Does anyone have experience with the alberta cons of otafest and animethon? They're the only ones i could really go to without paying for a plane ticket and all the fanexpo cons just seem like a big merch hall+celeb meet and greet :(
>truck was 4chan all alonghas that been going on for a long time? I remember walking past a truck a couple of times near the night raves and wondering what it was for back in 2014
>>10940101Since like 2017 or so, though they were at the back of the parking lot past the water tower until this year
>>10940103oh well it's still pretty cool you guys practically got a plot of space for your own thing.
>>10940104Where did you hear about it from, AN was like half a year ago
>>10940106the AN thread for this year. I just bothered to ask that question now when I remembered.
>>10940107Well see you at the truck next year
Are there any hot girls at the truck?
>>10940121They go with their boyfriends so good luck
>>10939712Animethon is a low tier party con. Otafest's programming is shit except for the 18+ stuff but AA is alright.
>>10940121>>10940128Say that you're cosplaying as an ugly bastard... they might be into it.
>hal-con is next week>no posts mentioning itcool. i wasn't planning on going this year either
>>10940358Unfortunately, Atlantic Canada is kinda neglected
>>10940360Isn't there one in New Brunswick? Not huge, but its better than nothing.
>>10940358>>10940360Hal con gets sold out almost immediately every year, it supports the whole region. Two major guests dropped out but everyone will still go. >>10940369Animaritimes, it's more of a big nerd gathering than a real convention. Not bad for fucking around but don't expect anything from the industry bring there.
AAAA I WANT ANOTHER AN AGAIN.Last time is so fun....
What is the next Canadian con anyways? Is Anime Toronto happening?
>>10943379>What is the next Canadian con anyways?Keep an eye on your locals unless you like travelling. The upcoming popular conventions confirmed to probably, definitely happen are:>G-Anime January 17-19Gatineau, QC>Fan Expo VancouverFebruary 21-23Vancouver, obviously>NadeshiconMarch 28-30Quebec City>Anime OttawaApril 18-20Ottawa, obviously>Calgary ExpoApril 24-27Calgary, obviously>Anime NorthMay 23-25, obviouslyToronto, obviously>AnimaritimeJuly 4-6Fredericton, New Brunswick>GanbatteJuly 5-6Saskatoon>Fan ExpoAugust 21-24, obviouslyToronto, obviouslyAnime Toronto is probably dead. Website is blanked out too now.
>>10943379>>10944703Anirevo 2025 is still on too.
>>10944703You forgot:>Ai-KonJuly 11-13Winnipeg, obviously>Winnipeg ComicconOctober 24-26Winnipeg, obviously
qrd on the truck? first time attendee to anime north last year, do you guys just drink there?
>>10945085where'd you hear about it from
>>10945086after I got home I lurked the old thread >>10909042looking back at it now there was mahjong and stuff at 2am, pretty cool
>>10945093see you at the truck this year
>>10944703Why leave out otafest in Calgary? It’s location price and events are amazing awesome itinerary too
What are the truck anons gonna do this year? Will the sneed grillmen show up again? Also what's the best Canadian party con? I've only been to the US ones.
Are there any convention orgies in Canada?
>>10945290>best Canadian party conAlmost none of them, Canada sucks for party cons, Yeticon is your best shot
I'm going to anime revolution this year in August. It was always a cringefest, but in a fun way.Any other anons coming?
https://toronto.animerevolution.ca/Looks like Anirevo Toronto is still happening.
>>10945326>anime revolution this year in AugustI'm going! Probably cosplaying as Griffith or Regulus Corneas
I wanna go to Canada for a con. Considering Im American and it would be an expensive trip, which big anime con should I attend? Would most likely be my one big trip this year. Not into comics so no comiccon esque things vg cons are a maybe.
>>10945433Anime North if you don't really give a shit about programming.Otakuthon if you do.
>>10945290>best Canadian party conAtomic Lolipop, RIPBest current party con is Yeticon up in Collingwood Blue Mountain resort
>>10945433Our dollar is in the shitter so you'll save a ton of money on expenses. Best touristy con is Otakuthon. Montreal is cool enough to justify adding an extra day before or after the con to see the city. For Anime North don't bother unless there's a specific guest you want or you have friends to meet up with. It's in an airport industrial wasteland with nothing else to see. For gaming there's Toronto Game Expo in March which looks pretty decent and the location is nice.
Anyone going to SexyNerds this week in Ottawa?Kept seeing ads for it pop up on instagram figured I'd give it a go.
>>10945585Much appreciated. I was leaning towards Otakuthon anyway cause Montreal looks dope. How fucked is the language thing? Do some people legit only speak french?
lol. lmao
>>10945615I don't know any of these people.
>>10945627It's from some small convention in Mississauga. I just found the guest selection funny. Having a nhl player sign autographs to like 20 people in anime cosplay is a unique image
>>10945628Anyone going to this shit?
>>10944703For anyone in Southern Ontario, it seems KW is starting up its conventions again after the disaster of Kitchener Comic-Con a few years back.It seems a newer one "Tri-Con" is being hosted at the Kitchener Museum in February, and there was a revived Kitchener Comic-Con that started up a few months ago.
>>10945628It started out as a sports card market, then they expanded into TCGs, and then a couple years ago they threw in a little cosplay stage and got blown away by the response for a nobody con in the middle of nowhere Mississauga. As an evolution it is really strange to think about because it's taking all the stuff that would be side shows at a normal anime/comic/gaming con and putting them front and center. (card games, rhythm games, idols, kpop, and now vtubers)
>>10945672Anyone attending for sports collectibles/cards must think it's a freak show.
>>10945662That's nice to hear, will probably check it out
>>10945678The sports card collectors are all normie dudes in their 30s and 40s. They honestly don't give a shit about anime/weebs but I'm sure they enjoy the eye candy.
