how does anyone even pay for doordash, ubereats, ect? On any of these websites im paying more in fees and tips than the meal itself. no fucking way people are this rich or this uncaring about it.
>>
I make $145k a year, $20 for a small meal isn't going to kill me. I only do it a couple of times per week and it's always breakfast so the total meal cost isn't as high as it could be. I know I shouldn't, but it's just too easy. That's how they get you. Convenience. If I could push a button and ban these apps, I would. Not for myself, but for the harmful effects on restaurants. Ok now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go order $50 worth of stuff off amazon prime instead of walking to the store and supporting local business.

We are a dual-income-no-kids household so we can afford things like Uber Eats and Instacart. But we hardly ever use them because I deeply resent the pricing. It's just unnecessary gouging.

There's no such thing as "can afford" something that isn't worth it. If your disposable income is so large that wasting money doesn't involve a sacrifice in some other field of leisure, your budget is putting too low a percentage into investments.

Check your popular mapping apps, that's probably the driver getting fed bad info. I'm on the back side of a taller building relative to the others nearby and so the GPS puts me as closer to the other street, and everything was getting routed to the entrance to a totally different building despite the postal address being very clear about the entrance, because that's how the mapping shit tries to make sense of it all. So I had a lot of missed deliveries and "building entrance not accessible" status codes until I figured it out. I had to submit a bunch of corrections to all the mapping apps to fix it and then wait a few weeks for them to get around to looking at my request. Never had a problem since though.

My labor my money = i spend on my hobby which is having brown people drive my groceries and dinner to my home.
>>
>>20419245
I dont really get it either. Even if you go through the regular restaurant app, it's insanely expensive. I ordered Chipotle at work once and it cost 41 dollars. A single burrito plus tip.

I feel like these apps would work but only for a bit. You'd get everyone to try it once or twice and realize it wasnt worth the money.

I could see students ordering who came from money, or people who make good money in their job doing it, but absolutely no one else.

And even then, I feel like there would come a point where there were so few people who ordered, that all delivery apps and rideshare apps would merge into one thing. Drop this person off, head down the block, pick up this pizza, pick this guy up, drop the pizza off, drop the guy off at a store, pick up a package, drop off package, pick up guy and his groceries from store, etc.

It's insane to me that rideshare people have different apps that they toggle and have to go between like it's not all the exact same asinine shit and the same programming running everything anyway.

Work the system.
I use doordash, pay the dashpass fee for free delivery and just look for 40% off deals.
Usually pay between $20-30, for food that would cost twice that at the venue.
You can also just say your food is cold and they will give you a 50% refund (you can argue it to 100% if you can be bothered going through call waiting).

Like >>20419387 said, if it happens more than a couple times it's probably the GPS. These companies use the cheapest possible map data. It's usually out of date by up to a year and the geotags are often in the wrong spots. Uber expects drivers and customers to update the map data for them instead of paying Google or Apple for their data.

I did it more pre-pandemic when there were better restaurants, and I could manage deals/coupons/whatever. Upcharging wasn't as big of a thing. Honestly, I had 2-3 hours of time to myself every day. Maybe get home by 6 if Mr. Shekelstein didn't push me to stay late, booze it up as fast as I could when I got home, and then eat and try to enjoy any moment of my day before I was in bed at about 9 with a sleeping pill to try to get my 8 hours and be up at 6 for the next day of the same shit. Ordering in food was one of the few ways to get any time to myself.

Though consider the fact that the entire earth only has modern civilization thanks to the technological advancements made by the unfettered capitalism of pre-WW2 Europe, and subsequently the United States. We (unfettered capitalist countries) invented everything from engines and roads and trains and planes to electricity, phones, the radio and internet, plastic, antibiotics, modern medicine, and everything else you can think of. A company in a socialist country (or, a socialist government) has never invented shit of any technological value and they don't do anything useful. All they do is leech off the inventions and contributions of Americans and our spiritual predecessors, enjoying electricity and machines and medicine all for free.

I never tip only order when they send me a please give us business here is 60% off email and collect as many refunds as I can they limit your card so I just do this every time I need to replace my card
Fuck all of those apps and if that’s how you make your money as a driver you seriously need to reconsider your job options

maybe they don't own cars.

man I use to spend half my pay check on Uber eats when I didn’t have a car those where peak comfy times
My job required zero effort (security) and my life just subsisted off of weed food delivers and hanging out with buds I miss those days

Not exactly sure what you're trying to express here but yes, "rustic" whiteoids are fond of the old fent, aren't they. Glad I don't have to deal with that

You moved the goalposts already. First you said a 145k salary can't get you a house. Now you claim 145k on its own can't get you a house. Both are completely false.
Just stop, you don't know shit about real estate.

Fent and heroin. A bit of meth too. Rural whites are the mirror image of urban blacks. Except blacks use more coke and tranq.

zoomers just think they're entitled to a top tier Architectural Digest house in the finest most exclusive neighborhoods and if they can't have that for free, it constitutes a "housing crisis" and we need to cancel the government and privatize everything. you can thank YIMBY astroturfing campaigns for that.

What the fuck am I going to do in West Virginia or some other flyover shithole? You can't say "145k can get you a house" and then point to a place where the highest paying job is cow milker or coal shoveller. You only get that salary in a real city with business and tech jobs.
>>
>>20428142
You're a dumb seething tard because I'm not a zoomer. I don't own a house in a city, I own out in the countryside. And I bought a few years ago before interest rates took a shit.
Imagine simping for the government, top fucking kek. What kind of a neocon cuck are you? I bet you'd sell your house to BlackRock if they offered you a good enough price.
You don't know shit about real estate. You probably don't know shit about anything except for waifu pillow prices, you extremely online mongoloid
>>
>>20428387
You asked where 145k can get you a house. You got an answer. Now you're bitching it's not where you want. If you want a house for 145k it's gonna be in a low population area. But if you make 145k, you can definitely quality for a home in a lot of suburb areas and cities that aren't fuck-you-up-the-ass expensive. And have you never heard of remote jobs? You can literally make six figures from anywhere as long as your job is remote.
Are you in your 50s or something? I can't imagine why you're so clueless unless you're literally old enough that you haven't thought about current issues.

>>
>>20428897
Neither, you're just conflating different anons. I'm targeting my retirement at one day after my parents croak and I inherit a house and can just stop working and spend my shekel hoard on property taxes and power bill and spend the last 30 years of my life neeting and living on beer and beans
>>
>>20428897
Original anon here, you were talking with someone else but I'm curious, what should my retirement plans be, to be exact?
>>
>>20429257
If you're making anything over ~90k you should be contributing max to your 401k, at a minimum. If I assume you're around 30 now, work for the next 20 years, you'll have ~1.3m in your 401k alone, assuming a very low growth of %4 (average is ~6%, which would be 2m). You'd need to either be really old starting from nothing, or investing absolutely nothing outside of 401k if you're expecting to hit a retirement target at 75.
>>
>>20429297
I don't disagree with the spirit of what you're saying, but 1.3 million isn't going to mean much in 2044, certainly not "I can retire now" money
>>
>>20419245
I always wait for the discounts I have gotten up to 60% multiple times and I'll often get 40% ones + buy 1 get 1 for free that some restaurants offer. I can even do cheaper grocery shopping like this and it gets delivered to my house and I do not buy stuff I don't need as you would when physically grocery shopping and I can look up recipes online and think of what I'm going to make. for me Uber Eats = usually cheaper than physically going to the restaurant and I don't own a car since I'm European and even if I did I would have to wait in line and deal with traffic. The only downside which made me stop using it as much is shitty delivery drivers. Like I'll see some North African doing a wheelie on their shitty bike with a uber eats box on the back and I'm like oh shit this is why my pizza looks all messed up. these people loathe their customers. Honestly if they added a thing where you could cancel specific drivers within say a minute or so of them taking the order it would improve the service and I would use it much more. And yes I am a poorfag on NEET bucks so the whole discount thing is amazing for me and has saved me tons of money. But there have been orders I had to toss because of incompetent brown delivery drivers. Things like them leaving the order at my doorstep but not ringing the bell and finding it the next day. I also had one big black guy who would always take my grocery orders and I often found the croissants and danishes would be missing so I knew he ate them.
>>
>>20419256
imagine being such an inconsiderate faggot that you waste 9k a year while people starve

> I do think that amassing wealth just to get the highest score possible is a legitimate game to play if you really have fun doing it.
It's defensible if you have kids (and not gay ones, ones that will themselves have kids), then there actually is a lot worth paying for like college tuition, health insurance, cash and cars so they don't have to suck dick or serve french fries in order to live like human beings before the age of 30, random fuckups, etc. and your estate will support people you care about after your death. But if you're in the boomer-tier hedonistic mindset of "money is for having more trips to hawaii" then it is totally fucking stupid to save, the whole point is just to be lazy and experience pleasure so you may as well do it now, before you get a heart attack or they cancel society again due to a psy-op.

I also donate money to a local mutual aid group, actually more than I spend on doordash, but if you want to get into hypocrisy, I also am a big fan of champagne*, and I consider myself a socialist and a leftist (not liberal), so instead of fishing for stuff that simply isn't there, why not base your "and yet you participate in society" on this new information

*from AOC champagne, of course but also méthode traditionnelle in general, speaking of AOC who doesn't love AOC champagne? I love the bracing acidity, the yeasty smell of brioche and peach mmmmm I think we have a blanc de noirs here, nectar of the gods

The issue is that he somehow thinks that spending money destroys it and takes it away from the society, somehow even the people he is paying it directly to.

I would pay a cute 18yo student to cook supper, clean and do laudry on weekends and bang for $30k a year. You can even do it for free if you let her live with you for free.

I've got lots, but back and forth discussions on the internet are rarely a good use of time. Take my advice or discard it, it's all the same to me. The fact remains that fast food app delivery fees are a waste of money that could have been spent better somewhere else regardless of how much you earn.
>>
>>20431592
Mate, you got demolished.
>>
>>20429306
These are super lowball figures. Likely, it'd be 2m at minimum from average interest, on top of that, you're probably getting at least 2-5k over the maximum, because employer contributions allow you to go over the cap, if you're making 145k, it's probably safe to assume your employer has some amount of 401k matching. If you're making 145k, and the only money you've saved is in your 401k, something is going extremely wrong. What's happening with stock options? Bonus? No retirement plan from company? 2m in a 401k, plus everything else should be more than enough to retire. Unless you have a shit ton of kids or something, there shouldn't be any need to work over 20 years, if you're making over 100k/yr.

Of course. Along with a defined benefit plan and the gold engraved wrist watch if I stay there for 10 years. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for the afternoon smoke break by the fax machine.
>>
>>20432257
Unless you're self-employed, these things are offered in 90% of career paths that are going to be paying >100k a year, minus the watch. It's obvious you're just larping
>>
>>20432504
Why would I larp about a completely unimpressive salary? You know that there are jobs other than "burger flipper" and "business executive at a big traditional 1980s style corporation", right?
>>
>>20432531
What do you do that you get 145k/yr salary and no 401k/retirement benefits?
>>
>>20432539
I didn't say I don't get a 401k, but I am not surprised at your reaction. A lot of people seem really confident they understand retirement plans until they meet me and discover most of their assumptions are incorrect.
>>
>>20432546
First, if you know all this is standard, but doesn't apply to you specifically, why are you arguing your edge case as if it was standard? Second, even without all those benefits, it'd still be astounding if you aren't able to save enough for retirement well before the age of 75 on that salary.

Because after the 20th time, it starts to get irritating to have this conversation with acquaintances, friends, and family members, who try to explain things incorrectly, in a tone that suggests they think they're giving me the gift of their great wisdom. They always seem a little bit miffed. Because it's meant as small talk mostly, but also to a small extent it's supposed to be real advice, and advice-givers don't enjoy the feeling that they weren't actually in such a great position to give the advice they were trying to give. I always feel like I'm expected to apologize to them for correcting them, when their advice was almost always unsolicited in the first place. Also I had a short lived "career" in employee benefits, not that I was ever an expert on the topic but you'd think I'd know more than the average bear, so why are they the ones explaining this shit to me? It's such a boring conversation, I should just change the subject but maybe part of me relishes the awkwardness. Better to have this miniature battle of the unwarranted self importances than the usual shit about the weather or what's goin on with that sportsball stadium thing they said was going to happen. Or cars. Or god forbid someone's little crotch spawn and some bullshit about school that I don't care about and having to feign concern. At least I don't have to feign irritation. That's a real emotion for you, see I'm just like you. If you liked this video please like and subscribe.
