What whiskey is best, and why is it Jameson?
>>20603967Fuck off faggot, why put a question like that? Is that some stupid reddit shit?
jameson tastes like shit
>>20603990The women folk seem to like it, it's good and mild for their tastes.
>>20603967>What whiskey is bestThe first one I can get my hands on and break on the ground. Next or onto a drainage grate, if possible.
>>20604002Why break a bottle on the ground, that seems like a waste. The thing is to break a bottle on the side of a garbage bin, that way you're still holding it while not bending over or wasting any booze.
>>20604007>Why break a bottle on the groundI'm not drinking it. See the part about the grate.
>>20604009I'm sorry, I will fetch the wine for you, m'lady.
>>20604010Spare me your roleplaying.
>>20604010Nobody except for properly certfied serving wenches with big titties fetches me anything!
What kind of goofball breaks a beer bottle on the ground then wastes some valuable beer? When a kid you don't want any drop of beer, that's why you break the bottle on a side of a garbage bin, it's kind of a right of passage.
>>20604028** drop of beer to go to waste ...
>>20604028>What kind of goofball breaks a beer bottle on the ground then wastes some valuable beer?First, we were talking about whiskey. All the same to me either way, but still. Maybe cut back a little...Second, all of the fucks I give about "drinking" "culture" would make a celibate think he was doing something wrong.
scottish whisky mogs the absolute shit out of irish and i say that as an irish person
>>20603967
>>20603990It at least gets masked decently when mixed. It is quite terrible straight though
Only alcoholics drink straight liquor.
Really the biggest issue with Jameson is that it costs way too much now. When I turned 21, it was about $24. Now it costs about $45
>>20604667>Diluting my cheap vodka shots with the smallest amount of water so anon can't call me an alcoholic
>>20603990It's best with Ginger ale and a lime wedge, but yeah neat or on the rocks its not very good
>>20604667>Only alcoholics drinkI hate that normal hydration shares a term with ethanol consumption.
>>20604010ill take your finest chardonnay from the gas station
>>20603967I've vomited so hard the next morning after having drank an entire bottle of this shit that just this picture makes me nauseous. Seeing this thing in a supermarket makes me not want to buy alcohol at all. Seriously this thing granted me the single worst morning of my life and I've had actual alcohol poisonings multiple times. Jameson, never again.
>>20604849>Seeing this thing in a supermarket makes me not want to buy alcohol at allI hope everyone on Earth has an experience as enlightening as yours.
>>20603967It's shit. Unironically worse than costco branded whiskey
>>20603967Jameson is like the Jim Beam of Irish whiskey. It's just fucking basic.
>>20605093>It's just fucking basic.like your mum, yet we all still ride her
>>20603967Tamnavulin is unironically 90% as good as the best whiskey ive ever tasted (40 year old whiskey, 5-10k$ a bottle)
still the goat
>>20603967Incredible that amongst other $50 Irish whiskey and $60 scotch, that you can get a bottle or this for $20
Imagine drinking whisky with an e
>>20603967That's not how you spell Tullamore Dew...
it's by no means the best but it's cheap, inoffensive and broadly available
I seriously can't stand you sad, fat, pathetic faggots shitting up this board with your whiskey garbage. im not even a teetotaler either but Jesus Christ get the fuck out of here
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is a great whiskey for introducing people to drinking it neat. It's got more complexity and nuance then standard Jameson, but is subtle enough to where it's not overpowering like a flavored whiskey. The coffee, chocolate, malty notes are pretty approachable even to people who don't normally drink stout.
>>20608039Never even heard of this. Do you specifically recommend the sherry cask?
>>20603988pretty sure that joke predates SA let alone some post-Digg shithole.
What are some good ass bourbons in the $50-80 range? I’m sick of cheap low shelf garbage
>>20608852Four Roses Single BarrelWoodford Reserve Double OakKnob Creek 12 year
>>20608525Those NAS bottles are cheap enough you can buy them all without much dosh.
>>20609054Ok, so if this is really all as good as you say while only being prices the same as other 'basic' single malts, why don't I hear people talking about it?
>>20609101Most single malt shills only care about shilling big names/popular releases. The value bottles rarely get the time of day. If you have a Total Wine nearby and have them stocked they should be one of the things they have no problem sampling for you. If the bottles arent freshly opened, expect some slight differences, but last time I checked their return policy is somewhat relaxed.

What's the difference between American whiskey types? Rye, Canadian, bourbon etc.
>>20612732Bourbon is at least 51% corn mash and can only be made in Kentucky
>>20612753You can call it bourbon no matter what state it's from, it just has to be made in the USA.
>>20603967>>20603990ok whiskey snobs then what is a good whiskey to sip on neat without ice like a detective from film noir(under $100)

>>20612753What is the difference between whiskey made with corn mash and that without? Is it noticeable?
>>20613020of these >>20613141 go for Glendronach 12, Glenmorangie 14 Quinta Ruban, Glenfiddich 14, Balvenie 12 Doublewood, Laphroaig 10. Rest are very dependant on the batch or just plain overpriced even in the current market.
>>20613233Absolutely, corn is just cheap filler grain and makes everything taste the same.
for me, it's label 5
Jameson is good especially during the winter. Jack daniels tastes like shit but it’s more appropriate for this time of year.
>>20613282Complete opposite for me. Jameson is light on everything besides the taste of caramel coloring, so with high temperatures it makes more sense and is even bland enough that ice or cocktails dont hurt it. JD's warmth is a no brainer for Fall/Winter.
>>20608271This stuff is great but like regular Jameson it's wildly overpriced in my area. The IPA one is disgusting and I have no idea why they still make it.

>>20616016High rye bourbon is best bourbon.Wheated bourbon is fucking disgusting.
I've only had a few, but JW Green was the one I enjoyed the most. Tried a few peaty whiskeys when I was in Germany last year which is how I learnt I am NOT a fan of peaty whiskey.
>>20608672>literally the world's largest discussion boardCope more.
I bought a bottle of Seagram's VO because i wanted to try something cheap, but i think i'll stick to older whiskeys in the future. Dalwhinnie is ok for a single malt, but a bit pricey depending on where you from.
one time at a family gathering I drank a 1ltr bottle of the shit, then did the same the next day/night.thinking about it now puts a shiver down my spine.
>>20616115Yea but one distiller's high rye isn't going to match another distiller's high rye mash bill.
>>20616115>Wheated bourbon is fucking disgusting. You haven't had the right ones
>>20617213That's why you have to try them all.
>>20619477Which goes back to my post> Is the mash bill particularly important to you or more just something that exists in the background?Like obviously I'm going to try what I can, but if I find a bourbon with a mash bill similar to something I know I like, should I trust that or should I treat it more like a general vague sense of direction instead of a recipe for good bourbon?
>>20619484>treat it more like a general vague sense of directionDo that.

>>20616016>Is the mash bill particularly important to younot with willett, not that I can afford it besides their garbage wheated stuff.

$10 a liter is a tough price to beat. I usually mix it with sparkling water for a highball, but it's not too bad just sipping on the rocks.

>>20603967DUDE
I'm so glad we have the technology to genetically engineer yeast that would be useless (or worse) for brewers, and the ability to regulate the market such that it's the only kind you can purchase. Now if only we actually did that...
Whats wrong with easy to drink swill?>>20603995
>>20620628nothing stopping anyone from producing bespoke high-quality distilling yeast other than ignorance, which you seem to have in abundance
>>20620714>nothing stopping anyoneFor now, and only because our society is dominated by cowards and addicts.
So far Makers Mark is my favourite Whisky.
>>20620649Will you be my Ballantine?
I love all types of Irish Whiskey something about it, just so good
>>20620722reputable distilleries are already flocculating their own yeasts and have been for years(even the moonshiners; do you think they're going into a government establishment to buy yeast, bruh? lol)sorry you're behind the curve, but you can get there, too
>>20620734And again, if cowards and addicts (and their sympathizers, but I repeat myself) weren't running the show, their plants would be seized and their specialty homegrown strains of we- uh, yeast, would all go extinct.

>>20624406>how much he doesn't care about drinkingOh, I care about "drinking" immensely. I don't give the first shit about "drinkERS" and their pathetic coping around one of the world most tolerated addictions.
>>20624371No, bourbon needs corn. 51% (or more). The legal requirements to qualify as bourbon are:>Produced in the U.S. >Made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn>Aged in new, charred oak containers>Distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof>Entered into the container for aging at no more than 125 proof>Bottled (like other whiskeys) at 80 proof or more The minimum age for bourbon is 3 months, but anything under 4 years must be labeled with its age. Except "Straight bourbon" which is legally required to age for 2 years at a minimum, cannot be colored/flavored, and can't be blended with another spirit. Another category is Bottled in Bond, which has its own legal requirements>Bottled-in-bond bourbon is a sub-category of straight bourbon that must be produced by a single distiller at a single distillery in a single season, aged at least four years, and bottled at 100 proofSo legally, rye isn't required at all and is simply one of several cereal grain options. Though admittedly rye is incredibly popular for bourbon mash bills, it's hardly "needed". > To be legally sold as bourbon, the whiskey's mash bill requires a minimum of 51% corn, with the remainder being any cereal grain. A proposed change to U.S. regulations will expand allowable "grains" to include seeds of the pseudocereals amaranth, buckwheat, and quinoa.
>>20624601Traditionally, bourbon has rye in the mashbill because farmers made whiskey from their excess rye. Many moved to kentucky after Hamilton's sin tax on whiskey. Kentucky' land is better suited for corn, and wouldn't you know it? Wheat.
>>20623254If I could find them at MSRP I'd buy a bottle every few months, but at 2nd hand pricing? No thanks.
>>20623915It's a decent entry point, but nothing AMAZING.
>>20624601It's needed for it to not taste like shit, pedant.
>>20623915404 flavor not found
>>20625025So pappy van winkle, one of the most sought-after bourbons on the market tastes like "shit" because it uses corn, wheat and barley, instead of corn, rye, and barley? I think most people would disagree with you, but you're probably too poor to buy pappy anyway. The pappy rye is also good, but regular pappy is wheated and fantastic.
>>20625039>So pappy van winkle, one of the most sought-after bourbons on the market tastes like "shit"Yes. Correct.
>>20625058Well good job showing your lack of taste i guess.
>>20625039>It's sought after because it's the pinnaclethis isn't how it works btwpappy is all cargo cult at this point, it's popular because it's popular.
