Yorkshire puddings, toad-in-the-hole, Bubble and squeak, pies, breads...The memefoods and English empire Jeetsloppa CAN be good, but most of the top world chefs eventually come to the same conclusion: Simple good CLEAN foods, prepared in a way that amplifies the natural goodness of it,(Meats complimanted with their natural fodder for instance,) is the true height of gastronomy.All else is frippery to remove coin from the upper class.

Where I live (in South West England) there has been extensive elver fishing (both licensed and illegal) which has decimated freshwater eels, so they are not as common as they once were.
