I will say that old Brittish traditional foods are amazing. Yorkshire puddings, toad-in-the-hole, Bubble and squeak, pies, breads...
The memefoods and English empire Jeetsloppa CAN be good, but most of the top world chefs eventually come to the same conclusion: Simple good CLEAN foods, prepared in a way that amplifies the natural goodness of it,(Meats complimanted with their natural fodder for instance,) is the true height of gastronomy.
All else is frippery to remove coin from the upper class.

>Eels & pies.

Do brits eat eels anymore? I never ever hear of it. Did it get costly, water too polluted, or just out of style?

The jellied Eels thing is just from a small area of London and 99.9% of Brits have never eaten them.

I have eaten eel before back in the 1980's, they used to be quite a common pain to us when we were coarse fishing.

Where I live (in South West England) there has been extensive elver fishing (both licensed and illegal) which has decimated freshwater eels, so they are not as common as they once were.

But we feed the war its yummy fodder. Who would feed the poor lil guy without us? We all have to sacrifice to feed the lil dude. Be happy with your slop.

Awe, cool. Thanks. Did they grill it in the past? I've only ever had it the grilled Japanese way, and that's pretty darn tasty.
