Yeah but they're basically rats so I wouldn't bother unless you're starving.
>>
>>20843680
yes. all herbivorous animals are healthy for us to eat and therefore okay
i have pet rabbits which are in the same species family (rodents). while i love them very much i have no issue with people who eat them. my only wish is that they aren't farmed in tiny cages. wild hunt ideally
but as >>20843693 said their meat is very lean and quite tough. a lot of work for little reward
>>
>>20843680
You eat them or they'll eat you. It's a fight for survival. Don't eat their brains. The prions will turn you into one of them.
>>
I've had them fried and cooked in gravy before.
It was pretty decent.

UM, ACKSHUALLY.
Rabbits are lagomorpha. Also, not familiies, different orders entirely.
Their relationship with rodents distant enough that you starts getting close to early primates and tree shrews once you find common ancestry.

Squirrels are omnivores though?
>>
My dad shot and ate squirrels when he was a kid because they were very poor. There's really not much difference between shooting a squirrel and shooting a rabbit. I wouldn't eat a city squirrel though. Also make sure your neighbors aren't poisoning them before you chow down.

Squirrels are opportunistic. Most animals are and very few in nature are obligate omnivores or carnivores.
His point is probably what they primarily eat, which for squirrels is nuts and berries.
>>
I guess? not ideal, lots to clean up there unless you're making stew.
>>
>>20843811
>obligate omnivores
Meant to say "obligate herbivores" but hopefully you got my point.
>>
>>20843811
They're really violent and territorial with each other and cannibalism has been observed MANY times, at least with grey squirrels. They're not cute and nice.
>>
I guess it is altough meat is probably very lean and tough, I wouldnt mind giving them a try but I doubt Ill ever have the chance.

Anon. You're literally in a thread talking about cooking and eating these little bastards.
You should take it for granted that most people here already understand that that they're rodents and behave as such.
What are you even trying to argue that people don't already agree with you on?
>>
>>20843680
Only the grey ones. The red ones are cute.
>>
>>20843851
They're cannibals, not herbivores rabbits. Rabbit meat is far superior.
>>
>>20844134
My dude, rabbits aren't obligate herbivores either.

>>
>>20844472
Yeah, that's pretty consistent with what I said.
Glires are cladistically super to the orders lagomorpha and rodentia, with scandentia serving as an outgroup.
>>
>>20843680
Looks like a lotta work for not a lotta meat.
>>
>>20843680
No, you’ll be punished by squirrel revenants.
