Are these worth it?
Can I just buy the big bag of rice at the store and put some in and it cooks it
>>
>>20913619
That's how it works yes
>>
>>20913625
No it isn’t. You also have to add water.
>>
>>20913619
Yes just add water. Pro tip: add a bottle cap of white vinegar, learned that from a Chinese chef on it
>>
>>20913619
I don't recommend that rice cooker, get something a bit more expensive.
t. Had that same rice cooker in college, sucked bad
>>
>>20913630
>>20913636
interesting
does the water affect the taste? i can just use water from a bottle, i dont have a sink
what does the vinegar do and is it a flat amount or should I add less if I cook just 1-2 cup of rice
>>
>>20913619
chink here it is very worth it
just don't spend too much on it. even the superior ones that deliver higher quality rice aren't all that worth it.
>>
>>20913638
stop shilling for capitalism and overpriced products you fucking moron
>>
>>20913646
Never EVER use tap water. The quality of the water you use determines how your rice taste. I always use purified water. Vinegar does to rice the same to potatoes, you don't need to add much.
>>
>>20913652
stop shilling for capitalism and overpriced products you fucking moron
>>
>>20913656
Aromas are based you must be thinking of some overpriced Japanese or Korean bullshit.
>>
>>20913619
i've gone full circle from cooking rice on the stove to using one of those in your pic to buying a zojirushi and now back to just cooking it on the stove. takes half the time of the quick setting on the zojirushi and a third of the full setting, and I get the crunchy rice at the bottom of the pan again.
>>
>>20913638
Don't listen to him, he's a consoomer. I've been using the same $20 aroma for ten years.

I have a super nice Japanese one and I never use it.

nigger tier pfas up the wazoo. you should replace this cheap chinkshit with another piece of cheap chinkshit. that garbage ends up in your food.
no wonder people walk around with a creditcard worth of plastic in them.
>>
>>20913698
My zoji can cook 4 cups of rice in around 20 minutes.
>>
>>20913762
so can my [regular saucepan]
>>
>>20913762
I doubt it, unless you're using specific quick cooking rice.

Zojis, by design take longer to cook the rice, it brings out more flavour.
>>
>>20913770
That's my point, ding dong.

>>20913775
Wrong and no. It has a super fast cook mode. The rice doesn't come out quite as nice as the normal setting, but it is cooked and fluffy.
>>
>>20913619
I just spent the extra money to get an electric pressure cooker. You can cook much more than rice and the rice it does make is really good.
>>
>>20913778
>Wrong and no. It has a super fast cook mode. T
No it doesn't.

If you think it does, tell me the model number.

Teehee.

>>20913847
You do not want to know.

>>20913859
Love that cooker so much even if I had to memorize a handful of moonrunes. Fantastic rice. It has this function that toasts the bottom of the rice to make awesome claypot meals.
>>
>>20913903
>he uses the option that the manual literally tells you will result in shit rice

well, you do you my friend.
>>
>>20913903
Hey mine has the claypot function too. Its actually the only thing i use the rice cooker for. it works pretty well!
>>
>>20913925
Sometimes you just want fast rice. It comes out about 15% worse than if you use the normal setting.
Regardless the whole point is to show that some rice cookers can cook rice very quickly.

>>20913929
Nice! Somehow it works perfectly everytime and has never burnt my rice. I love the smell of toasted rice so much.

This recipe is one of my staples. It comes out so amazingly good.
Just place everything on top of the rice + pre measured water and then mix it up when it's all done cooking.

>>
>>20913619
Put 2 cups of water in a pot and boil
Put a cup of rice in and stir
Turn down to simmer, cover and walk away for 15 minutes.
Congratulations you have perfect rice and you didn't need a stupid fucking gadget.
>>
>>20913966
2:1 makes shitty mushy rice.
>>
>>20913945
I use this one
https://youtu.be/yDd1lJN9VPE?feature=shared
>>
>>20913966
it's 1:1 water to rice +1/2 cup
>>
>>20913973
No it doesn't. I'd take a pic of some i have in the fridge but I forgot my phone at work.
>>
>>20913979
It depends on what kind of rice you are cooking.

>>20913992
Maybe it doesn't if you're using the shittiest oldest rice, but good quality rice is ruined with that ratio.

>>
>>20913992
I have never heard of a rice type that uses 2:1 water to rice, either it's 1:1 or 1.5:1
Sounds like you're just tasteless.
>>
>>20914002
>not mushy
The rice isnt even in grain form anymore, it's shit.
>>
>>20913977
Small differences looks great. I like the idea of frying off the sausage with some stuff. Would suggest trying dried shiitakes if you have them on hand.

Boiling water + dried shrooms for 30 mins, strain shroom tea into container to use in rice, cut stems, slice, add with chicken. Love them so much.
>>
>>20914005
Are you fucking blind too?
Also that's been sitting in the fridge like a week, it's delicious and fluffy when fresh out of the pot.
>>
>>20914002
That's CLEARLY very mushy and soggy. Look at how much mush rubs off on the side of the bowl.
>>
>>20914015
Nope, It's great, and this is a thread full of retards.
There's condensation all over the bowl cause thats been in the fridge a week.

Putting rice in the fridge doesn't make it explode, shit water ratios do though.

I was using the dried ones but I get really nice organic ones fresh where i am and i like them better so i use those now. The dried shrimp have a really strong flavor and ive been leaving them out as of late. Really comfy dish though. Thanks for sharing your recipe and tips anon.

>>20914068

>>20914070
Try using a 1.5:1 ratio for your shitty enriched rice. It may blow your mind.

This is what correctly cooked and very high quality rice looks like. Compare it to yours lol. Used a .95:1 ratio for it.
>>

yes, and the rice cooker saves all the pans that i'd ruin trying to rectify that
>>
>>20913973
Depends on the type of rice you're making anon.
>>
>>20915350
2:1 is almost always too much water.
>>
>>20913619
Don't get a non stick one for obvious reason.
Aroma makes a model with a stainless steel pot and steamer.
Best $40-60 you'll ever spend.
Can steam ~1.5lb vegetables while cooking ~270g dry weight of rice.
>>
>>20916161
>Don't get a non stick one for obvious reason
Schizo reasons?
A rice cooker will never even come close to the temps required to make non-stick surfaces become toxic. The issues with non-stick is toxic off-gassing at higher temps, which is an impossibility in a properly functioning rice cooker.

The non-stick coating is inert otherwise and if you did consume any, you'd just poop it out whole the same size it went in.

Pretend all you want you're somehow smarter than everyone else I guess, but you look dumb to anyone that understands what's going on.

>>

Skill issue. Bet your potatoes come out soggy as well.
>>
Get decent rice.
Fill half a cup with rice, rinse and put into saucepan/pot that has a lid.
Fill whole cup with water and pour into saucepan/pot.
Boil, lower to simmer, put lid on.
Cook until water is gone.
Remove from heat, leave closed 10 minutes.
Your rice is ready.
>>
>>20916460
>2:1

Straight into the trash it goes. Post some rice, big boy.
>>
>>20916444
no, they come out dry XD
>>
I feel like a rice cooker isn't something a white man should get. I feel like it's an asian thing.

I just boil water in a pot and use a strainer. I'm sure it doesn't taste as good as rice from an induction heating rice cooker but it's good enough.
>>
>>20916484
if you're white and you eat rice 3x+ per week, it's worth it.
>>
>>20916484
