I was taught as a child that pasta is done when you throw it at the wall and it sticks. Any pasta, not just spaghetti. My mom was throwing fucking rigatoni and shells and wagon wheels and all other shapes of pasta at the wall my whole childhood. We learned some shapes never stick to the wall no matter how much you cook them.
