Freshman year, huh?
>>
>>20940758
no, i just moved to a new apartment that has these
>>
>>20940755
I have to have one because I live in a trailer in the woods.

Meh, I have an electric stove that works fine. I would prefer gas though. Everything in my house is electric, I would just like to have peace of mind knowing I dont have to whip out my camping stove to cook if the power goes out.
>>
>>20940818
Just pay your electric bill though?
>>
>>20940755
Chef Ragusea uses one of these so they must be fine.
>>
>>20940755
yes, but gas stoves are garbage compared to induction stoves
>>
>>20940755
I think the worst thing is that you have to keep it spotless. If you splatter (or spill over) on a gas stove it isn't a big deal. If you splatter on an electric stove you have to get it spotless before turning the heat on.
Also it's difficult to get the temp low enough for some applications unlike gas.

Make sure you use your vent when burning gas, though.

Induction area is probably only 6", which warps pans. Induction is also basically useless if you have a carbon steel and want the sides to get hot for proper seasoning.

i don't fucking care a shit man i burnt my confit garlic
>>
>>20940785
Sounds like you could have wood or propane though
>>
>>20940755
Yeah you can't light cigarettes on these like coils or gas
>>
>>20940965
I also have a wood stove. No gas line.
>>
>>20940820
I do, I was thinking more along the lines of power going out from storms. We sometimes get tornados around here and once the power was out for like a week.

induction BTFO gas in higher temps and time to reach them, just saying

>tfw I bought an apartment that has these under the false pretense that I could change them to gas stoves down the line
>turns out building is from the 50s, everything is electric and has absolutely no gas lines anywhere near it

>If you splatter on an electric stove you have to get it spotless before turning the heat on.
No you don't. You don't even need to spend much effort on keeping the heating spot clean, and zero effort on the rest of it. If you wanted.
Lucky it's super easy to clean as it's a smooth hard glass surface.
>>
>>20940967
>Yeah you can't light cigarettes on these like coils or gas
You absolutely can if you wanted to.
>>
>>20940755
At least it won't blow up or kill you in your sleep.
