Why are some people afraid of "processed food"? Seems like neurotic conspiracy shit to me. I just don't see what the big deal is.
>>20943743Some foods, much like this thread, can give you cancer
>>20943753The air can give you cancer too.
>>20943743Nitrites are kind of a new-ish thing, in ancient times they didn't do it. Just buy salt cured meat. Such as DOP Prosciutto di Parma. Traditional foods are better.
''People'' don't know what words mean so the meanings of words get twisted. It's like the word ''chemical.'' It starts with a real concern about certain chemicals that are bad, but the average person doesn't know what a chemical is so all chemicals are now bad. Ask someone what they think of the hydrogen oxide chemical and they'll tell you it's a bad chemical you should take out of food.Processed foods are like that. There are ways that food gets processed that is bad for you, but people don't know what ''processed'' even means so everything that is processed is bad.
>>20943794but why is traditional food betterhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_nature
>>20943743Processed food then:>mash up meat into a tube, add saltProcessed food now:>run through blender, wash it with hexane, add flame retardants, use rancid oil, deep fry and flash freeze it, put in a box on a shelf for a few months
>>20943815Well nitrites have been conclusively shown to cause cancer, they're actually bad for you. Fortunately, however, salt cured meats don't have this issue.
>>20943766My grandma, who never went to the hospital a day in herb life, never got air cancer and she lived like she was 90 years old
>>20943743It's more "ultraprocessed food" which is likely less nutritious and contains additives that probably aren't good for you.
>>20943865>likely>probably
>>20943743they conflate two different kind of processed foods
>>20943753So why does Italy have such a great life expectancy?Shouldn't they all die of cancer?
>>20943886>penisly
it really comes down to shady manufacture. The more nonfood i can pile into my manufactured "food" the less actual food has to go in making it cheaper. They add wood pulp to make shredded cheese stay shredded.. fine at first i guess.. but over time more and more wood pulp goes into the mix. Also a lot of the chemicals used to sanitize and clean the factory parts are highly toxic.. they claim none of it ever gets into the product.. but they arent exactly rinsing anything off very well..
>>20943743depends what you mean by "afraid".>eating ultra processed, seed oil laden dog food every single meal>refusing to eat anything processed, ever>eating it in moderation with a mostly wholefood dietone of these is the logical, emotionally functional answer.
>>20943929Not just Italy, but Germany, France and Spain too.
>>20943753Everyone dies eventually, so enjoy yourself while you're here faggot.
>>20943743Compared to unprocessed food processed food often allows a much higher calorie intake and a lot of questionable stuff is added. Like compare a roast that you actually have to chew on and your stomach has to break down vs something made from mince you can eat much faster and that is filled with much more salt or nitrites/nitrates, phosphates, smoke etc. Same for fruits you have to chew and digests vs smoothies.Still just eat what you want as enjoying life and food is probably better for you than living in constant fear. See French paradox or stuff like that.
>>20943743That’s one of my favorite sausages.
>>20943850Did she also live in a one bedroom barn in a filthy fucking village in Bumofucko, Campania and was actually 52 but was engaging in pension fraud?
>>20943929It's almost like there are multiple factors that affect health.
>>20944895Such as having a well paid pension for the elderly and very poor and/or corrupt record keeping for when people were born.
>>20944847>You'll get sick eventually, so just lick toilet seats
>>20944898Nobody ever died from licking a toilet seat.
>>20944908Missed the point entirely
