But higher abv drinks are a better value for your dollar?
>>
The bottom shelf taylor port used to 4.99 at my grocery store but after covid they raised it to 6.99. 1 dollar I can understand but 2 is unacceptable. its now 7.99 a near 100% increase in 5 years.
>>
My teeth hurt after drinking sweet drinks so I don't drink port anymore but I used to drink a lot of tawny port
It's nice

Port isn’t that expensive you larper. It is surprisingly unpopular among the working class though.

What is with this offensive use of question marks at the end of statements? It's an epidemic.
>>
>>20966098
The internet is full of ESLs.
>>
I remeber going into the store and grabbing the best bottle of Port way in the back and the manager yelled "It must be the Port-King!"
>>
>>20966093
Because the working class drink to get blasted not to enjoy the flavor profile of the drink, so drinking port is seen as a waste of money, also depending where you live this kind of drinks areba special occation deal, I remember buying a 10 yo tawny and the cashier asked me if I wanted it wrapped it like a gift with a bow and everything, they immediatly assume is for a gift and not to drink yourself, and this was a 10 yo one mind you, imagine one of the more expensier ones
Most wagies are unnable to afford shit like port, they live in a budget so thight that an expense like that would damage them for months, specially the ones that rent and have kids

>Cheapest port is at 1625th place in alcohol per crown at Systembolaget
No self respecting alcoholic pays that much for their fix

$15 for a 2L cask of port, poorfag oldfags and alkies buy it all the time in aus

Yes.
It filtered me as a budding teenage alcoholic. It was the only alcoholic beverage I woudn't steal from my parents because I couldn't stomach the sweetness.

Hobos love port for the fortification of it. You're dumb if you think only upper crust people with refined palates enjoy port. Clearly you enjoy it and you're not some wealthy business type raised classy. You're here.
You seem to have 'the working class' conflated with alcoholics. You're not very bright though, so you're forgiven for your grievous blunder.

>more expensier

What the fuck is that? And again, port is NOT expensive at all. I can walk into any supermarket and find two ports in 750 ml bottles for $7.99, which is the average price for regular red wine varietals in the budget region. And there will be maybe ONE fancy, expensive port for sale. Meaning that inexpensive port on par with non-fortified wines outsell what you think of as 'gift bottles'. You're somehow a snob who thinks people with jobs can't afford $8 wine? It doesn't really get much cheaper actually.

You can't spell for shit so I'm guessing you're not American. You have no clue about anything. God damn, kid.
>>
>>20968349
Huh? Dude was drinking enough at that point that the extra sugar was giving him hangovers. Nothing faggotty about liking a drier drink. Quit pretending liking syrupy sweet shit is some measure of refinement. Real wine drinkers consider port a dessert wine along with sauternes and marsala. If you are looking to catch a buzz the extra sugar will defeat the extra alcohol when it's hangover time.
>>
>>20969894
There's so much insecure projection in here i don't even know where to start.
All i said was anon was a faggot for thinking port is too sweet to drink. Everything else you made up.

partly I think it's an association as being a drink for old people like your grandparents and partly it typically at least in the US only being depicted as a drink rich people drink, nevermind being quite cheap relative to other beverages. the sweetness also tends to throw some people off too

Paragraphs aren’t Reddit spacing, newfag .

Reddit spacing is a space between every sentence.

It looks a bit like this.

Now go and lurk for another couple years before you post again.

Get used to it. Inflation is only "slowing". Prices are still going up. Wages aren't keeping pace, of course. Haven't been for decades

>>20966499
It's not seen as a waste of money, it's seen as a drink for bums, grandparents, and people on welfare. Which it is, unless you're Spanish

Weird how people can simultaneously say that the working class is getting screwed, while sincerely believing that people who earn $1000 per second by just existing shouldn't pay their fair share because that's gommunism and everyone would just stop working if they weren't living in constant fear of starvation or homelessness
>>

I actually love Port now that I know that I really enjoy the flavors.

One of my best times on a cruise ship was after I befriended the sommelier each night during dinner wine selections. Next, I then convinced my dining room tablemates to sign up with my family for a special class one afternoon on the topic of Port. We had the congenial sommelier all to ourselves, had a whole flight set up of various tawnys and vintage ports. The chef brought out a series of various little courses of savory and sweet items for each of us, to sip and try our vintages before and after each bite. Pastries, different types of cheeses, chocolate creations, types of chocolate, etc I laughed and learned and got hugely tipsy on expensive little things for a good 2-3 hours of fun. In my kitchen, port wine enhances one of my favorite gravies.

The wealthy have a billion ways to evade taxes and get away with it, that's much harder for people who can't afford accountants. Besides, any money the government gets is just going to be spent on housing migrants, Shaniqua's 9th kid and endless proxy wars against Russia/China.
>>
>>20974759
>we can't tax them because they might still try to evade taxes!

Because they try to figure out what is good and what is bad, instead of just tasting what is good and what is bad. Then, if a beer/wine/coffee/whiskey you like isn't favorable on their spreadsheet, they call you a pleb/tastelet/child.
