No, olive wagyu is kind of a meme though. So is kobe. A5 in general can be amazing, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get kobe or olive wagyu over regular A5 from another prefecture.

I would order the same, and it's my go to choice at a Ruth's Cris, but your dining companion would have to agree with your choice.

I'd skip over the raw bar and caviar, and get a salad per my mood, wedge or burrata looks good, then choose a hot starter of my mood, maybe a crab cake or the pork belly since it's house made.
Nope on the wagyu, whic don't even have fun japanese sides to match them. Probably get the brussels and loaded potato.

Nah, it's only an 18oz portion, that's a 10-12oz filet (which sure, is 2-4oz more than normal for filet), than you have 4-6oz take home portion for a midnight snack or stirfry chunks the next day.

But yeah if you're being a proper guest, you would split the cheatubriand.

If money really was no problem, and if I felt that this was a good quality restaurant, I would probably suggest splitting 6 oysters, a tuna tartare to start and the A5 Kobe.

Most people who invite you out for dinner probably aren't expecting you to order a $288 steak though. If I was wanting to be a bit more reasonable id skip the oysters and id probably suggest the sharing Porterhouse as a main - get a bernaise and truffled Bordelaise, with a side of carbs and vegetables.

Add in a decent bottle of red, and a few hours to work through it all and that sounds like a great evening.

They're ripping you off, so they won't care about quality... at all.
Check the bathrooms first, if they aren't clean just get a shot of whisky/vodka/rum with no mixers.
Otherwise go for things that are hard to fuck up even with poor ingredients and uncaring cooks:
