How often you get disappointed by general evaluation? I just find out that, the best restaurants near my area are poorly rated, the worst in my opinion are high rated.
Unless it has an autistically detailed explanation of why its bad or good I will not trust a reviewPeople are too retarded
>>20973255>How often you get disappointed by general evaluation? You need a "do" and an "a" in there>How often do you get disappointed by a general evaluation?>I just find out thatIn this case, use "found"Why are you here? Don't they have forums in your native language?
I cant trust an aggregated rating. Because if you look at who's writing the reviews, half or more of them are retarded boomers with no standards. I look for reviews by people who seem to have taste and describe its positive and/or negative qualities well.
>>20973260Who cares, I understood him just fine
>Check local reviews>Restaurants run by indians are full of hundreds of 5 star reviews by obviously fake accounts>Restaurants without indian employees are full of 1 star reviews claiming racismGod I hate them so much.
I sort by negative reviews and read to see if they make any points that sound valid. Numeric ratings are worthless except as a first layer of quick filtering (it has to suck really bad to get anything below a 4.0, the way normies rate things)
>>20973255You don't look for positives or stars or whatever. Just check for common criticisms. If every other negative reviews complains about the same thing then you know there's a good chance you'll suffer it too.Otherwise it's just to check portion sizes and how the fucking food is actually served on the plates.
>>20973260Okay Mister Grammer Nazi
>>20973260Based.
>>20973255i don't read reviews.i decide on dining based on menu layout.
>>20973509>scan the QR code for the menu sirHow do you react?
I do not trust anything that is an "official" winner from the area's newspaper or magazine>go to burger place that's been voted best burger in the area for 5 years in a row>it's fucking dogshit I find that looking at photos do more help than any kind of review. Yeah look doesn't necessarily mean taste but if it looks like a greasy mess then it probably is.
>>20973682By leaving and going to an actual restaurant.
>>20973255yes bad is good and good is bad
>>20973682i legit refuse to qr code a menu.while it's much more sanitary, it's not my job to tell you what's on your menu.
>>20973888>voted best burgerthis is legalese, anon.it just means that at least 1 person voted for it.usually the owner.
When it comes to food, I just check for menu options and photos. I generally ignore ratings, there are either too few or it's just some dick complaining about some random ass shit that doesn't affect me. If food looks shit, it is. Though realistically, I only look at reviews when traveling because I can't fuck about. For local, I will personally try all places ONCE, no reviews, no bias, nothing, just a straight cold visit. On that first visit I assess all I need to know about that restaurant: server speed, competence, food order times, food quality, etc. If it sucks, I never return. If it's good, I add it to my regular rotation of places to eat and come when I feel like it.
I rarely go outside, I can't even remember the last time I went to a restaurant, fuck, I can't barely remember the last time I've seen my neighbor.
>>20973260The illiterate loves the slop serving restaurants and hates the good stuff. Imagine that.
>>20973900What if the QR site has a REALLY nice meny layout?
>>20974037Sounds good but I hate the fact that quality of all the things in a restaurant flips massively up and down depending on season and how crowded it gets. It's pretty unrealistic to be at 90-100% all year round. Mistakes happen, new people screw up more, some staff member had a medical emergency the day before or for someone they know. I've more than once gone to a pretty new place and had nothing but good things to say. Only to later re-visit and wonder where the fuck did everything go wrong.Went to a new indian bbq when it was new and it was perfectly alright. Then the news started reporting they found the fancy word for poo bacteria over a bunch of stuff (I swear this isn't just me hammering on the indian poo memes and I can prove it if needed). The owner basically said his workers didn't wash their hands "because they didn't know better, now that they know it will change". Jump forward two years and now they have rebranded to generic bbq grill instead of indian. To no ones surprise they got hit with a new inspection and they were still unsanitary. Inspector even witnessed a guy working the floor grate with his bare hands before going back to prepping food. Fines are starting to rain down on em.
>>20973255When looking at reviews I look at the most recent ones, places that may have been great in the past can go bad if there's any changes in leadership/employees.
>>20974018not legalese anon, this is doublespeak
>>20974037All of this. I read reviews when traveling, but at home, I see for myself.I further check out the restroom too, on the new restaurant visit, and it's utterly trashed, ie something scary like no paper towels nor soap, then I just won't go back.If I like the restaurant and hope they don't fail, that is the only time I'll speak to a manager about someting disappointing.
>>20974526>I'll speak to a managerSpot the booger eater
>>20973255I never look at restaurant reviews. I pick where to eat based on who I know that works/worked there.
>>20973255If it's ethnic food, I generally don't give a shit about the rating, but I do read the reviews. Usually bad reviews for those places are always about service, which I give zero shits about. As long as the food's good and they make it within 30 minutes.
>>20974672Missrepresentation of the Karen. Context matters.
>>20974723Oh man, it's interesting reading reviews that total to well above average but all everyone does is compliment it on the service and scenery.>picture of microwaved slop>"The service was excellent, the food came really fast and I just love the location. Food good I guess"
>>20974672she looks more like a coalburner than a Karen
>>20974723I heard an idea somewhere that Chinese restaurants with the best food get a rating around ~4 because they are straight up Chinese and get bad reviews on service and courtesy.
>>20974846I don't trust any Chinese place with 4.5+ stars.
>>20973255I can't trust ratings anymore because I always assume very positive ratings are bots and deeply negative ratings are from retards who are mad that the parking lot was wet or their eggs were too yellow or something
>>20973255numbers are only vaguely usefulwritten reviews are easily filtered for useful infoI've found Sydney reviewers to be stupid cunts, that is to say both stupid and arseholes, good to read for amusement
>>20973255ignore any reviews with marketing wank words:awesomegame changerincrediblego toany hyperbolealso ignore low star reviews from karen types and over the top negative hyperbole. anyone bitching about the service over silly little slights, "slow" service, over or undercooked anything.
>>20973682>How do you react?please bring me a manu, I do not possess a phone capable of such. >wears a huge smart phone on my hip
>>20973888went to a restaurant recommended on diners drive ins and dives. it was crap.
>>20973255>great recipe with only 20 reviews>mediocre recipe with 5000 reviews>choose the mediocre one>mediocre one now has 5001 reviews
>>20974821My favorite reviews are the ones that are "Here from the midwest, food was meh."Then you look at their review history and the only things that get a 4 or above are chains.
I stopped caring if it's not under 3 stars. Just have a look at the menu, how it looks and feels.
>check local restaurants>all the best rated ones are just bars with shit, likely microwaved frozen food highly rated by alcoholics
My wife only ever goes anywhere or buys anything depending on how everyone else feels.
>>20974840same thing
>>20973260I have no respect for this stupid language
>>20980562Based attitude in general but until I know your native language I can't tell if you are based specifically, or just coping.
