So are products made by the Amish any good? Is there any noticeable difference in quality compared to food made with modern technology and techniques?

its pretty good, yeah
>>
>>20973451
yeah

Amish cheeses tend to be made in smaller batches and higher in milk fat content. They don't have preservatives, which is why the packages there are vac-sealed. They DO make use of stainless steel vats and pre-measured enzymes. Also, *supposedly* their religion discourages the pursuit of profit and worldly things, so (again supposedly) their primary aim is the craft of making the product rather than profitability. Whether or not any of that is true, eh, probably varies. The Amish are still human like anyone else, just insular so you can't see their shit.

They make good donuts but whenever I go to the Amish market I feel bad for all the young people working there.

I think their fresh baked goods and fresh dairy products are the best. It's a great day when I catch some amish selling loaves of fresh sourdough. I don't think there's a notable difference in quality on canned products some sell like sorghum and honey.
>>
>>20973451
Yes they are better, only the French care though.

>making and selling a product from your own resources as part of a community
> feel bad
Yeah, they're missing out on all the joys of a cubicle.

All the ingredients are pronounceable
>>
>>20973658
Why don't you go join them then? They're always desperate for new blood.
>>
>>20973731
I don't think they are. They actually stated they don't want outsiders.

As a young lad I went on a tour of an Amish community, and the chocolate chip cookies were, by far, without question, the most delicious baked sweet treat I had ever, and have ever eaten. They produce everything naturally, the old way, with their hands, and in small batches. Amish food is indeed kino

I live in Mason County Michigan and have Amish all over around me. I'll be honest and give you my insight.

Two types of Amish. Real Amish, and bullshit Amish. Most all Amish these days don't do the horse and buggy in my area, and have fully embraced electronics (When I was a kid, 1990s, it was actually common to see them with horse and buggy. Id's see them at least once a week, now the women just drive cars lol). The men and women however, still abide by most Amish customs outside of that. There are legit hardcore Amish across the country, but the bulk have accepted tech and most have phones and all establishments accept credit cards.

Now, the real Amish... Accept any race and whatnot so long as the people abide by their code. Also, real Amish will sell non Amish stuff. What I mean is, the Amish by me own a reselling store that has condoms, THC oil, shit like that, that isn't in line with their beliefs. They also sell Amish cheese and butter, but it's clear a lot of what they sell they buy in bulk online and portion out.

Also for produce, the Amish by me do sell it, but as I mentioned the main place I visit is a reseller spot. The actual good produce goes to farmers market/flea market like non-Amish. So saying Amish is better for fresh produce, not really accurate.

Then for the bullshit Amish, there's a guy in my area who clearly, clearly doesn't follow Amish codes and just does what makes him money, but he is Amish. He doesnt get along with the real Amish, and all his business ventures are shoddy as fuck.

Why should they be bad?

>So are products made by the Amish any good?
I think that mostly, yes. But, it's declining in quality. Your pie will not have a butter crust, or real whipped cream on top. Your jarred pickles might not be completely full to the brim.
Amish butter, just fine.

Amish are the quietly rich neighbor. They don't believe in insurance, but rather save their money well. The family with a horse and buggy might also have a very modern home generator, or at least be connected to the electrical grid for the power tools.

>conveniently ignores that with such an insular community the younger members have effectively been groomed to be exactly like their parents
>absolutely no acceptance of or access to any literature to make their own decisions, because the more informed someone is, the more likely they might leave

Stop romanticizing it. It's fine if they're happy, but shitdicks like you will frame literally anything as being fulfilling just because your own life sucks cock. Go join the jehovah or Mormon cults if you think it's such a good idea. You're delusional.
>>
>>20973451
I buy from them when I can, because they're white and they want to be left alone, which is based
>>
It's been consistently terrible in my experience. If you want something good you need to go for shit produced by rich ex-banker hippies with a hobby farm in connecticut or the hudson valley.
>>
>>20973451
I eat their food whenever I can and I genuinely think it's like the best prepped food you can afford.
>>
>>20973451
Their doughnuts blow everyone else's out of the water, including these new "boutique" places. A dozen weigh about 2lbs. They're lard and sugary heaven. I'm actually glad that their are no places, too close to me. As an added bonus, I can't even fucking stand looking at anything from Dunkin'

>the best prepped food you can afford.
Prepped food, like?
What have you tried and what's your favs?
>>
>>20973909
Give them your children then.
>>
>>20973451
Why don't they ask more they could get like $100 per block easily.
>>
>>20973451
I trust the Apostolic Christians and Mennonites way more than I trust Amish.
>>
>>20973909
Is it possible for my friend who has Pennsylvanian Dutch blood to enter their ranks?

Also, yeah there’s an Amish market one town over I need to visit again. And yeah their food is tasty.
>>
>>20973909
>They actually stated they don't want outsiders.
I've always been told they will let people join them but are very selective about it and if you aren't 100% committed along the way you're done and you don't get a second chance.
>>
>>20973731
>why don't the miserable urbanites with no practical skills join a functional community built on family bonds, hard work and no tech if they hate their lifes so much?
>why doesn't the poodle join a wolfpack if he hates being a degenerated pet?
