Moreorless, yeah.

In mine, the very idea of not only eating meat and eggs at breakfast but in such large quantities (and accompanied by beans, no less) is utterly revolting to the majority of us. Light breakfasts are preferred. A small pastry, some yoghurt and a piece of fruit is our preferred breakfast.
>Americans cook English recipes for dinner almost every night without realising it.
Americans don't cook much at all, nevermind "almost every night." And last I checked, the most popular dinner in the US is "spaghetti."
>>
>>20974601
Oh, and had you brought up your sweet bakes, I'd have given you that one. Cakes are far too sweet where I'm from. British ones are far, far better and I fucks with pouring warm custard on everything as you snaggletooth cunts do.

The English were never a food scarcity people for extended periods of time.
As a result they didn't have to excessively season or spice food to have it fill you up with less food.
So, bland and basic grub is a result of not being a piss poor nation for greater than 100 years. You think France started eating snails when steak was available? No, fuckers were clearly starving enmass at some point for a long ass time.

When are you retards going to stop propagating this bullshit? Spices were historically a luxury. Blood was spilled over that shit. You don't just travel over a thousand miles to import something that you're going to sprinkle onto a pile of shit. The only spice that was wasted on low-quality meats was pepper.

Spicy food was generally a thing in hot countries because before refridgeration meat would go rancid and it was a way to disguise the taste of the rotting meat. Basically dulling your taste buds.
Its no coincidence that the most spicy cuisines are from tropical places like Thailand or hot deserts like Mexico
>>
>>20974393

>>
>>20974730
Spice use is a thing in hot countries because spices are more abundant and diverse in warmer and humid regions, dumbass. Colder regions mainly only had herbs widely available. It's simple ecology. Food preservation has always just been done with plain salt or sugar even in cultures that heavily use spices.

It's not about the best meals it's about the worst.

>>

>>
>>20974393
The answer is because most people have never even eaten "english" cuisine so they just make jokes about what they've heard. Or at the most they've had some frozen pot pies and base their opinion on that. Nobody cares enough to try to market traditional english meals to the masses so their reputation will live on as gross eel jelly and fish head pies.

It's mostly cope from people who were colonized or subjected to English rule in the past. English cuisine is limited, sure. But you don't really need more. Beef, potatoes, fish and chips, sausage, earthy vegetables... it's just kino through and through.

Modern life dictates that you have to have some kind of third world slop and call it "ethnic" in order to be cultured. Some of the slop, is good, don't get me wrong. Most of them just try to make jokes about anglo food because their inferiority complex gets to them. Others are just mad because simplicity mogs their french autistic haute cuisine or meat drowned in 30 spices to hide the rancid taste. Browns aren't people.

UK society is extremely segregated and so is their cuisine. People with money who live in rural parts of the country eat very well (Cornwall, Cotswolds, Scottish isles). The rest of the country's cuisine is absolutely devastating.

Germany has great cuisine as well: in the Black Forest region and in the wine producing regions along their main rivers: Mosel, Rhein, Main, Saar, Danube. Southern, East Germany, the coastal region and the big cities are appalling though.

the other week I was inspired by one of these threads to give bongoloid food a try. someone had linked a recipe for a beef and mushroom stew that sounded ok. it was pretty much just beef, mushrooms, and an onion simmered in beer. when I was getting the ingredients together I thought that would be a little dull, so I decided to add some pork lardons, garlic, and thyme. it ended up tasting great, but I realized that I had basically turned it into a french recipe. the fact that many food related english words like "bacon," "restaurant," "cuisine", and "gourmet" all come from norman french gives some historical insight on the absolute state of bri'ish food culture.
>>
>seething thread
The short answer is that British people do not value flavor, and do not consider it culturally important to cook well. They consider social status to be the most important, and a long time ago they decided that bland food was a positive status signifier. It's just Victorian-era clout chasing that made british food so awful.

Wrong. Brits have mediocre foods for many reasons and none of them are because of greatness. For starters, countries in northern europe have more difficulty growing tasty things because of the cold, which now isnt that big of a prpblem, but it definitely was some thousands of years ago. But above all, because industrial revolution arrived so early that women have been out of the kitchen for far longer than the rest of the world, which killed off dynasties of home cooking traditions by the 1900s.

Spices, believe me, are a thing of luxury and brits know well about it since they plundered plenty of that during that century.

>You think France started eating snails when steak was available? No, fuckers were clearly starving enmass at some point for a long ass time.
What a load of rubbish

The Brits ate snails before the Romans, not out of poverty but because they could. The Romans actually brought bigger snails and they were much enjoyed by the Brits. (the large Roman Snail is now protected because it's not very common).

I wish Americans would stop trying to tell us about our history.

Britain, an island nation surrounded by fish, lobster, crab, prawns, etc.... The British have an aversion to all of it. They'd much rather eat beans out of a can.

Go talk to Felicity Cloake and Andrew Watts about how British people shun seafood. I’ve provided you with the articles they wrote. They are both British and they think the UK hates seafood despite being an island surrounded by delicious seafood that people could eat. You British people are too uptight. Such a shame. Such a damn shame

I know what you're getting at but nowadays many British people really don't eat seafood. I'd say most Brits under 30 don't. Again this is based on my living in Britain.

Your anecdotal evidence doesn’t mean shit Sherlock Holmes. Look at the numbers. What the fuck is with you people that you aren’t eating more fish? Irish potato famine? IRELAND IS AN ISLAND SURROUNDED BY SEAFOOD! Are you British Isles people a bunch of retards? Were your ancestors a bunch of retards? You are surrounded by fish. Eat the fish. It’s that simple. Stop being afraid of fish. You fought the Nazis alone. Why then are you afraid of simple seafood?

Yes because fish is expensive and given that the majority of Britain is poorer than Missouri (the poorest or 2nd poorest state in America), and unlike in Missouri, there is not a large fishing culture nor vast amounts of open wetland for the poor to fish for catfish, trout, and carp.

The vast majority of fish I eat is canned because I can't afford 9 bucks a pound for fresh fish.

bong fish is mostly from the sea
also not much catfish at all; they're not native

Missouri isn’t even close to being one of the poorest States you silly foreigner. No matter where you are in the world, USA, Spain, Japan, etc… if you are close to the ocean and fresh seafood is available then the people there love the seafood and create delicious cuisine. EXCEPT the British isles. This is because the people there are culinary retards.Congratulations though on the whiskey and the gin, both of which are centuries old endeavors where the British are truly unmatched no matter how others try. Scotch whiskey and oysters are God tier cuisine

This belief was literally parroted by normies irl for years you fucking zoomer retard, I used to hear this when I was a kid before 4chins even existed and it sometimes still comes up - but now you get shit on for saying anything that might be percieved as racist so people don't say shit like "that indian place serves you old meat, they cover it in spices to hide how bad it is" or "that chinese place? yeah they reuse the same oil for weeks at a time, i heard they eat cat back in china too, never know what you're gonna get if you order from one"
Plenty of awful sentiments and views that were common among every normal person

This and rationing lasted longer in the UK than many other Euro countries. The grim truth is that British cuisine was once much more than it is now
