Good haul! I went last week and spent $510. Their frozen Edamame is really good.

The new Kirkland salami is pretty good, more like actual Italian stuff than the Columbus stuff they've had for years and cheaper.

Isn't Costco only good for large families? It seems like a couple or a family with one child wouldn't be able to use the massive quantities of food unless they have a chest freezer and eat mostly frozen and processed food.

I live in an apartment by myself and Costco is my main grocery store. I mostly go there for milk, cheese, potatoes, onions, eggs, bananas, bread, and their frozen veggies
I agree with u if u buy stuff like bell peppers, strawberries, or other kind of fresh produce u wont use within the next 3 days. u dont have to buy that stuff though, and the food is overall cheaper
>>
>>20980186
Generally it's twice the size of stuff you get at a normal grocery store, like you can get 2 dozen eggs and 6ct romaine hearts.
>>
>>20980202
As a single person who cooks everyday, I wouldn't be able to use that much fresh food before it goes bad.
>>
>>20980213
Yeah, it's a bummer. They do have great deals on their chicken though, and surprisingly great wine options for very cheap. Their branded vodka is good too.

>Costco
>what should I get
My circuit starts out with me in the optical dept. I usually pick out a new pair of sunglasses or prescription glasses, seriously, and then they're ready next trip.

I like to get a crate of campari tomatoes. I also go into the cold room to pick out something kind of yummy fruit import or veggie in there too.
Next up, bakery, where I get the almond danishes BOGO, and a couple loaves of bread. Next, the meats, whatever I want to grill that week, followed by the prepared foods, where I might get a pasta or grain salad "kit" or a street tacos kit.

Palette of seltzers, iced coffee, paper towels and toilet paper, and maybe some boba teas or whatever new beverage of the garage fridge stash. I get a container of import french or italian cookies, maybe biscotti. Seasonal chocolate is starting to come in. Maybe some ice cream appetizer frozen stuffs. Block of cheese, wheel of brie, or a tub of palmetto cheese. Whole goat cheese possibly. Next might a box of ramen or cereal if a good rare flavor. Qunol or something good at the pharmacy, granola bars or nuts like pistachios or praline pecans.
Sometimes I'll grind a 2lb bag of coffee beans on the way out the door to enjoy for the week.

I am grateful to Costco for introducing me to new things over the years, including my favorite cookie, the St Michel La Grande Gallette salted butter cookie.

Same for the most part but eggs last basically forever and 6 romaine hearts is 3 big salads for me and I can eat that in a week easy. Usually I buy these with them when I'm in a salad mood.
>>
>>20980225
post salad recipe
>>
>>20980225
I buy these as well but I chop them up for sandwiches, quesadillas and pasta.
>>
>>20980225
>>20980231
Why don't you guys just get the whole rotisserie chicken that's hot and ready? Doesn't take long to break it down, and you can use the bones to make broth.
>>20980228
Also interested. Guessing that hard boiled eggs are involved?
>>
>>20980225
I'd rather just get a couple whole romaine or red leaf lettuces for the week than six romaine hearts that I would feel obligated to eat so they don't go bad, and I hate precooked packaged meat. I eat very little frozen or processed food so I don't think Costco is for me. Not knocking it though, it seems great for big families.

Yeah a basic-ass chef's salad is usually my go-to for a meal salad. Romaine, chicken, ham if I got it (usually leftover when I fry up a ham steak), eggs, tillamook extra sharp white cheddar, costco bacon bits, maybe some grape tomatoes and gregg's ranch (also from costco).
>>
You should get 100 hotdogs and then try to sell them at double the price in the parking lot.

i had one of these today and was disappointed. they're greasy. when i make cookies that come out that greasy you at least get a nice butter flavor for the trouble.

>be you
>don't want to get a Costco membership because it's literally a scam and psychological manipulation
>have a friend with a membership
>get them to buy you a 25 dollar gift card
>walk into Costco with gift card and cash
>Costco has to let you buy whatever you want, even if you're buying like a 2000 dollar tv, even if you aren't a member
>pay with your giftcard and the rest of the balance with cash
Do it a few times and bask in the seethe from the managers. They have to come over and override the register when you do it so they end up remembering you real quick.
>>
>>20980186
If you drive a lot, the gas alone makes the membership pay for itself, even if you only fill there once a month.

Otherwise it depends more on how much storage space you have than just about anything else. For example you get 12 rolls of paper towels for $20 and they're way nicer than the ones that are 3 for $10 at the supermarket. The basic membership works out to $5 a month so things like that can make it pay for itself pretty fast.

A big part of it is also more about bang for the buck rather than overall price, getting more for your money rather than spending less overall, like their $6.95 towels are way nicer than what you'd get at Walmart or Target for the same money, you can get salami and cheeses for reasonable prices, good deals on alcohol, decent cheap clothes, etc. You can also find things there that are otherwise hard to find in a lot of areas.
>>
>>20980480
It's not a scam, it's to keep joggers out which is increasingly more important.

Lower shrink helps costco keep their prices down.
>>
>>20980569
When I say it's a scam it's literally a scam based on the sunk cost fallacy. This isn't just me making an educated guess about what they're doing, they talk about it openly in their shareholder meetings. Most recently it was when someone asked why they don't discount memberships like Sam's club and their answer was
>if it's free they won't see membership as something they need to get their money's worth out of
>our internal data suggests membership costs below 30 dollars don't trigger the sunk cost effect in our members we want
>>
>>20980586
I'll give you some insight anon.
Costco/Kirkland and Walmart/SamsClub don't give a shit about competition.

It's supply and demand.

Supply is the floorspace. Guess who gets the demand?

Coke, Pepsi, Doritos, etc. Beer brand with 12 flavors? Ever wonder why?
It's how they can shove their main product on the shelf, and push others off. All of the random shit is a loss leader, but it keeps their money makers in front and center.

Walmart and Costco do this with no competition, becacause they're clubs, and wholesale.
>>
>>20980634
great, more cheap shit for me and fewer niggers inside than ever. what's the problem again?
>>
>>20980654
It's pay to play anon. I don't know of a better metric than subscriber rolls.
>>
>>20980186
>It seems like a couple or a family with one child wouldn't be able to use the massive quantities

Oh, I disagree. It does help if you are in the top 10% but it's not necessary. The new tires and prescription glasses, one electronic purchase can pay for the membership. In the time of supply chain scarcity, they were the only ones with toilet paper and paper towels in stock. I get 3 drugs there that are handsdown the best prices vs my plan. Prescription glasses every other year keeps me in my Fendi, Cartier and storebrand prescription mirrored sunglasses (only store that does them inhouse). Break em, well, they're guaranteed for life. Just entertaining twice a year gets you the best prices on prime steaks, cheese and booze. When my nephew overnights with me, he'll get the best pastries and cookies. I'm the favorite auntie if I gift him a palette of gatorades or starbucks doubleshots too.

Christmas shopping for a slew of family gets you terrific gift card prices, and jugs of nuts and chocolates and stuff people love.
