Is there validity on sushi giving you extra energy? Every time I have it, even though it may be past dinnertime, I get a rush of energy like with caffeine. What other foods can do this and why? Is it indicative that my body is craving the nutrition?

Rice has more fiber than pasta, it's harder to digest so you stay full longer, especially if the rice has been cooled first, both rice and pasta that has been cooled first forms resistant starch so you don't get the glucose spike at once. That said, you have to watch out for the restaurants that sweeten their sushi rice.

Cooling Some Foods After Cooking Increases Their Resistant Starch
Jan 22, 2024 The rice that was cooked then cooled had 2.5 times as much resistant starch as the freshly cooked rice . Researchers also tested what happened when both types of rice were eaten by 15 healthy adults.
